Background story:
A witness who recorded the video said it shows the end of a fight that occurred around 7:10 a.m.

The witness said the girl who was slammed “was trying to defend her sister and to break things up.”

Rolesville Mayor Frank Eagles said the officer involved was SRO Ruben De Los Santos.

He has been a resource officer at the school for 3 ½ years, Eagles confirmed.

De Los Santos has been placed on paid administrative leave.

De Los Santos’ body camera captured the incident, according to Eagles.

Eagles said there are two school resource officers at that school, so its possible there is more than one body camera video.

The ACLU-North Carolina tweeted about video saying it displayed a “disturbing use of force.”

The cop is a burly, 200 something pound man, the girl no more than 130 soaking wet, yet she was picked up and slammed into a marble floor with considerable force. Reportedly, her injuries are minor, but it couldve been worse.

Holy fuck when her body connected to the floor. Fuck that shit. Awful use of force that was way out of line

How do you attack someone like that, especially a young girl. He could have subdued her with way less force.

I love how you can deduce the race of the people involved from the OT headline without even watching the video to confirm it.

That wasn't retraining someone. That was an expression of frustration and anger.

Mainstream America is ok with this video for the most part. They want Black people to respect law and order under any and all circumstances even when law and order doesn't understand the circumstance of this encounter (i.e. she was breaking up a fight).

The only way this is acceptable is if someone has a gun or a knife and is threatening someone's life.
If not then whatever school cop did this needs to be fired and put in front of a judge. Horrible video

I'm gonna guess all that economic anxiety broke that píg.

You really think that grown ass motherfucker couldn't stop a goddamn child regardless of weaponry without body slamming her ass on the fucking ground? You REALLY think that? This shit is 1000% un-fucking-acceptable. Fuck a caveat. Fuck an excuse. I know it easier on your conscience to try an establish a narrative where this maybe is okay, but it ain't happening. Cop is 100% in the wrong regardless of the circumstances and if he's too shit at his job to not know to deescalate with teenagers then he deserves everything coming at him.

The activities of school-based police officers (especially SROs) are typically less regulated by formal policies than those of officers that are called to a school from the outside. Can a school-based officer be permitted to question a student without reading him or her rights? What about when an SRO is ”mentoring"? What about seeing a student's records without the permission of the student or parent? When must an SRO get a search warrant?

What can a student or parent do when things go wrong, such as when a student is sexually harassed, roughed up, or verbally provoked by school security? Students and their parents find it difficult to exercise the most basic of rights, that is to the extent to which they have any or know what they are.

In one Pennsylvania district, school police review write-ups of students for a broad range of minor incidents, including ones in which police were not involved or called. Then they file charges against students in adult court — for things like ”disorderly conduct." In many cases, an administrator hands police the incident write-up and says, ”Got anything you can charge this kid with." From what we've seen, this type of discipline affects primarily Black students. These students have a record, which in Pennsylvania is not automatically expunged, for situations in which they weren't even arrested.
School cops are even worse than regular cops.

Did you guys miss the part where she's moving from Fox News to NBC?

So she magically stops being a racist?

He's lucky he didn't do cause some significant damage body slamming her like that, not that it wouldn't have resulted in time off+pay of course, and in some circles, a passionate defense force for a great hero.

Knew she was Black before I even clicked on the thread...

Come on, back in high school wrestling they would even stop the match if someone got slammed like that.. yet I'm sure someone out there is going to defend this shit.

"The only way this is acceptable" is not an okay statement. There is no possible circumstance in which the cop has the right to resort to that level of violence against a teenaged girl in school. There is no scenario where what the cop did is okay. NONE. EVER. FULL STOP. There is no out. There are no caveats.

Yes, the Megyn Kelly "She's no angel" racism is from that story.
Black victim there as well.
Actually that Megyn Kelly comment was from the Black girl getting manhandled at a swimming party in Texas. I cant remember what she said about the girl being ripped out of her chair by the neck by the school cop.

Some of these cops are real comfortable manhandling Black girls in a way they would never do other girls. Im positive these are the type of cops who score high on those "dehumanisation" tests, where they test to see if a cop subconsciously connects Blackness to animal-like traits.
There's a positive correlation between the cops who were more likely to compare Black people to apes & their record of excessive force.

Horrible. I remember the security at my high school being rough as hell too. I don't know if it's hiring the wrong people or bad training or all of the above, but it's unacceptable.

Yeah, I'm sure talking down the Columbine shooters would have gone real well.
