Everytime i am hoping please dont be white and black i am wrong.. i should short myself or something.

Hatred is the MO of humanity, there is no curing it and after a period of relative world calm and peace since WWII hate is back to breeding and spreading like a virus with the communication power of the internet. Happening right as automation and climate change are about to destroy the foundations of civilization as we know it.

Just give up on humanity, we are a failed species. Enjoy your life for the next 20 - 40 years before the world falls completely apart and then hope you don't have any kids you created who will suffer after you are gone.

I don't even have the emotional power to get upset about this anymore. Its just expected behavior from the police now and its only going to get worse with racists running the show in the USA.

That cop should loose his job, he isn't cut out to deal with a bunch of collage students and clearly can't keep his cool "In the line of duty".

You really think that grown ass motherfucker couldn't stop a goddamn child regardless of weaponry without body slamming her ass on the fucking ground? You REALLY think that? This shit is 1000% un-fucking-acceptable. Fuck a caveat. Fuck an excuse. I know it easier on your conscience to try an establish a narrative where this maybe is okay, but it ain't happening. Cop is 100% in the wrong regardless of the circumstances and if he's too shit at his job to not know to deescalate with teenagers then he deserves everything coming at him.
If she pulled a gun and he slammed her instead of shooting her I think that would be an improvement over how it usually goes.

Honestly made me feel like I was looking at an old black and white photo of Americas past. Horrible.

I'll never even comprehend that American schools have "police" to begin with.

We didn't have police, but we had security guards. In theory, they're there to safely and responsibly break up fights and the like. Your elderly history teacher is not really built to handle that.

In practice, they seem to wander around a lot and then employ excessive force on the rare occasions they're needed.

If I recall correctly, schools only turned to prison-state security systems like 'random' bag/locker searches, metal detectors and uniformed security guards in response to the columbine massacre.

I would expect to be very depressed to compare the batting average of said guards between unwarranted battery on the minority student body vs actually stopping a crime on the scale of columbine.

Regardless of weaponry? I would expect a cop in a high school to bodyslam a teenager IF they pulled out a gun. Wouldn't you? That was my point. I said that was the ONLY acceptable way anything like this should happen and if not the cop should face a MAXIMUM penalty if no weapon was involved. Do you think a teenager with a weapon is not a threat? You are honestly naive and stupid if you think otherwise. Do you even remember Colombine? I even posted that it was a horrible video and stand by my words. If no weapon was involved that cop is COMPLETELY in the wrong--like I said--put him in front of a judge and let him get what is coming to him.

His post was like 'why dont they just shoot them in the knees' x 100

You've never been to an inner city school then...
My high school had a god damn x-ray machine and TSA style metal detector. I kid you not, they X-rayed your fucking sandwich before you enter the building.

This setup. Single file, take off your belt, scan your ID, put your bag in scanner and walk through the metal detector.

I just threw up.

There's a fine line between what that monster just did to that little girl and breaking her back over his knee like he's Bane.

What the cop did was disgusting and this video was horrible.
If anyone thinks I was trying to twist the narrative then I genuinely apologize for my comments because I did not mean to come off in that way at all. smh

Lol that was a body slam alright. Damn unnecessary in that situation, and hope she doesn't have anything broken or such.

We only have guards for property protection, like someone at night breaking in.*

*At university. School had the janitor lol

That wet slap noise when she hits the floor, urgh :(

Poor girl, no matter what led to all this, I highly doubt the excessive use of force on display was necessary. Why the hell are cops used to deal with kids?

Holding out on the hope that it was all an act and that she will turn out to be a reasonable decent person.

I am expecting to be disappointed.
She is either a racist or got paid to pretend to be a racist to appeal to racists.
She's a piece of shit in both scenarios and NBC is shit for hiring her.

Sickening, just fucking sickening.

Cop should be immediately fired and made to stand trial for assault. Of course he'll get a nice paid vacation instead.

Can't wait to fast forward to a year from now and this guy isn't suffering any long term fallout or consequences from this despite the desperate need to set an example out of him and get the next guy to actually think twice before manhandling kids.

Thats usually how this bullshit goes.

Nope. For the life of me, I still can't recall why security was so tight other than being a largely minority students. It wasn't a particularly rough high school, no memory of any incidents of gun assault or with a deadly weapon. But i did see a couple of students selling weed and i'm almost certain the cops were letting some kids through or helping kids bring it in for a cut.

it just blows my mind that any society, let alone one which is supposedly up there with the best, does not think that if police officers need to work at a school, something is fundamentally wrong and broken

Who fights at 7am? Jesus...

Saying that, this cop (again, why do US schools even have cops?) was obviously venting some frustration from home and should be fired immediately for laying hands on a minor.

I felt bad for immediately thinking it was a white cop/black student situation, but it looks like I was right. Fucking scum. Nothing will be done, of course, except a small slap on the back of the hand.

To those talking about race, you do realize that the cop is most likely Hispanic and not white given the name and their picture. Not that it makes a difference overall, as police misconduct is misconduct regardless of race of the officer, but I wish more people would read the story.

Anyways, On Topic, the investigation has been handed over to the state via the SBI, but I have a hard time seeing how its not misconduct. He got her from behind and almost did a WWE suplex. Don't see why such a dangerous and physically violent movement was needed on a student not posing a threat by definition.

Furthermore, girl's statement is she was trying to break up the fight (which involved her sister). And for that last cherry of fuckitude, the school didn't tell the Mother about the officer's action. When she was called to the school, it was about the sister's fighting.

I have to ask GAF: Are all non-black individuals going to be considered white/caucasian? Just curious for future reference and threads.

Oh, and one last item, as to the op saying the cop was burly, he's not bullshitting:

That's a mess all its own. Malyse thinks that a cop who tackles an active shooter in the middle of a crowded school is shit at his job and deserves to be punished for it.
So the only way a cop can stop a shooter is to pick them up and body slam them? Get the fuck outta here. And don't put words in my mouth; a cop who resorts to a body slam (also known as excessive force) is absolutely shit at his job. Think about the bullshit you're trying to defend. Or ask OP to swap usernames with you, w/e. 🙄

No one is defending the cop here.

If there was a different school in which a child was brandishing a gun then I'd be more than OK with that child being body slammed (that honestly seems like one of the best possible outcomes and if it were to happen people would praise the cop for restraint), and I think most reasonable people would be. When guns are involved the idea of being gentle or restrained is a bit unrealistic.

This case is obviously not that, however. The student clearly did not have a weapon and the amount of force was obviously way over the line.

That was my reaction as well but then I started to wonder what sort of shit must have gone down at that school for the administration and school board to resort to such measures?

Maybe nothing happened. I think schools in "bad" areas added security like this because of a combo of the war on drugs, racism, and columbine. Maybe if you dress up a school like a prison and treat kids like prisoners then they act like it's a prison. It's that whole school to prison pipeline people talk about.

Yup, I went to one for less than a year at the end of middle school.
clear backpacks, metal detectors at every entrance, student IDs that needed to be swiped as you came and went.
Couldn't even wear a pair of higher-end shoes than New Balance because kids were getting mugged for even basic Nike.
People were still sneaking drugs and knives in.

In a world where minorities and whites got equal treatment, yeah. But when white people have pointed weapons and even discharged them at officers on numerous occasions, saying a cop has to body slam someone is fucking bullshit. Dylan Roof was arrested without incident and given Burger King, ffs.

Metal detectors in schools is always a weird concept but then again I went to a "segregated" high school in a Jacksonville suburb. You could count the amount of black students in the school on one hand

I'm not arguing that Dylan Roof was not treated too kindly or that many minorities have not been treated unfairly by police. The point is that your statement that:
"You really think that grown ass motherfucker couldn't stop a goddamn child regardless of weaponry without body slamming her ass on the fucking ground? You REALLY think that? This shit is 1000% un-fucking-acceptable." is not realistic. I'd hope that any suspect, regardless of race or gender would be body slammed if brandishing a gun in school. That's much better than the possible alternative.
