Cop Who Threatened To Kill Ferguson Protesters Says His Life Is ‘Ruined’

Couldn't happen to a better person honestly. I wish all of the cops got the same treatment, but I feel that anyone who is in a position of power/leadership and treats the people they are supposed to protect like they are roaches don't deserve a good life.

Albers and his lawyer, Brandi Barth, offered several different defenses for his actions that night. Barth argued it was “unfair” to make Albers “the poster child” for bad policing during the Ferguson protests, and showed off photos of a number of other officers pointing rifles at protesters.
"Everybody else was doing it."

I cannot believe a lawyer and a cop thought this defense was reasonable. I mean, at best, you could argue about it being a stressful and highly tense situation that caused his panicked reaction; but that will take him so far. It at least makes your client look a little sensible and shows that he knows what he did was wrong. Now he sounds like he has no remorse, clearly can’t handle tense situations and should have never been in the field in the first place. Also, he casually just threw his colleagues and police precinct under the bus; he screwed himself there too.

Does any sane person think this guy should have a second chance to have life and death power over a human being:?

I wasn't implying he should remain a cop.

Taking his statement at face value, we have posters stating 'good' ... as though what he did deserves that level of penance. I'd simply like to seem some actual consistency.

Are you for real?

He threatened to kill someone. Should be in jail.

Should his life be ruined? Part of me says "no," actually. He should get a dosage on how his attitudes, brotherly herd mentality is actually part of the problem civilians actually have with ascribed authority regarding the corruption and conflict it produces. He should have been able to look back and say "shit, I was being an aggressor like many others, and that was absolutely unaccountable. I do not belong in a position of such power if I'm like this."

But no, he pulled the "everybody else is doing it!" card. Maybe he should have his life ruined, for he didn't get the meat of his failings and would be prone to do them again.

Consistency? In what, how people react to the 1-2 times per decade that a cop is punished for misconduct? How about you give people a chance to figure out their own reactions to such a rare event instead of concern trolling us with how inconsistent a community is in its reaction when someone who threatens to kill innocents isn't given back his badge and gun.

You weren't implying that huh? So should he keep his job?
Can you post some examples of the posters stating 'good' not being consistent?

So would I. All cops who points their guns and threaten to kill protesters for not being complacent and funding white areas through unjust taxes should be unequivocally fired and removed from positions of power.

It deserves imprisonment.

He pointed a firearm at people and threatened to kill them. He was probably serious. He deserves to lose much more than his career.

Bummer he felt the need to forfeit his career because of a lapse in judgment. Hope he sees the error of his ways and lands another job soon. Being unemployed this time of year can't be good for one.

That implies that anyone would want to hire/associate with the poster child of bad and/or racist cops. Maybe he can set up a GoFundMe page.

Maybe don't try and threaten innocent civilians. Should be in jail anyway, if he wasn't a member of the police force at the time, thats where he'd be.

Fuck him.

Yeah I don't think his life should be "ruined" for that. Like he shouldn't be fed to crows over several weeks, having his flesh slowly picked away, his senses slowly dwindling as he writhes in agony. That should not happen.

Perhaps just a few years in jail, he'll have time to get out of jail and enjoy the freedom as an elderly Wal Mart greeter who lived in a small apartment in some inner city.

His old abusive gun-pointing cop life is ruined. No big loss. He still has his life and his freedom. That's more than most can say. He should move from the area and try to lead a peaceful life. But not as a cop.
