So the cougar would of killed you in 7 seconds, sounds about right.I probably would have used my karate skills to end that situation in about 7 seconds.
Yeah it was funny hearing him try out different noises trying to find the one that would repel a cougar.I lost it when he starting hissing LMAO.
This is what keeps me from jogging in hiking trails. Fuck that noise.
Not the kind of cougar I was thinking.
Idiot stops and walks a little towards in when there was good distance around the bend.
Also, it seems it was more a “get out of my territory” response. If the cougar were hunting, he would have already been taken out and not see it coming.
Yep, the guy was kinda asking to be in trouble.Idiot stops and walks a little towards in when there was good distance around the bend.

Run with another person or carry something on you. Cougars are usually scared of loud noises and the FBI van.Yep. I adore them for that ‘getting back to nature’/soul purified of modernity vibe, but it’s hard to ignore that I am completely, utterly defenseless. Something like this video is my worst nightmare. I really want to look into some extremely powerful animal mace like Irobot82 pointed out, if it works.
Big cats aren't dogs. They not only have teeth that can tear into you easily they have claws. While that seemed like an interesting video, i mean why would you keep filming? You are literally in a life or death situation, put the phone away, take your shirt off and wrap it around your arm to offer if the attack comes and hope to fuck you have a knife at least to survive.
Although i did laugh at the start when he said "fuck you dude" to the cat

I was going to say, 6 minutes? I'd have let her have me at 6 secondsNot the kind of cougar I was thinking.
I wonder if throwing rocks at it, would have made the situation better or worse?
'Jeeves, hand me the nine iron!'.In general, throwing stuff is actually helpful. However i would resort to things like nearby treebranches or whatever stuff you have in your hand which is worth throwing. Bending over to pick up a rock significantly reduces your height which in turn could be a sign for the predator that you're weak and trigger an attack.
If a cougar really wanted to fight it wouldn't just follow you out in the open and make intimidating gestures like that, it pretty clearly just wanted to scare the guy off because of its cubs. In that situation I'm not sure throwing rocks would help, as maybe the cougar would then decide to fight.I wonder if throwing rocks at it, would have made the situation better or worse?
Wasn't that a cub right at the beginning when the video starts for real?If a cougar really wanted to fight it wouldn't just follow you out in the open and make intimidating gestures like that, it pretty clearly just wanted to scare the guy off because of its cubs. That being said, picking up a rock at least to have on hand if the cougar did attack would probably be a good idea. Because if a cougar does attack you, you should fight back instead of running, and having a rock instead of your bare hands would be good. They aren't typically going to risk serious injury (or death) against an adult human male, which is why they generally only attack kids or women. If it thinks it isn't worth it, it will bail.
