Inspired by Korn's 'Another Brick in the Wall' cover... i've just found it on my hard drive and, not remembering hearing it before, began to play it. "hmmm, this doesnt sound utterly shit" I thought. "Oh... Oh NO, the HORRRORRR" i spat out as the song got past the 15 second mark... "it could be worse i gue...." then the song actually began. I screamed, I puked, I shat my pants. "how could this happen? Do these bastards think this sounds good?.. argh noo here comes the Vocals..." Tears form in the corner of my eyes.

Not only has the music been utterly raped, ( i expected this, Korn are, after all a metal band) but somehow Jonathan Davis, with unique vocal ability has stripped the lyrics of any meaning or relevance and almost ruined a totally awesome song.
I say almost because no matter how shit his version, the original can never be touched.

So, what in your opinions are the best / worst / most laughable cover versions?

A Perfect Circle - Imagine

An extremely talented band cover one of the most beautiful songs in the world. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?!??

One of the best cover songs of all time is Joe Cocker's version of "A Little Help From My Friends." Ike & Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" is also great, and speaking of CCR, their version of "Heard It Through The Grapevine" is great as well.

Mick Jagger & David Bowie's version of "Dancin' In The Streets" is a good one. Van Halen's "Pretty Woman."

Hmm, lots more...

"It's My Life" by No Doubt.

True to the original, and yet also elevates the song at the same time. Doesn't get too artsy, and yet adds just enough to make it work.

Limp Bizkit covering Behind Blue Eyes by The Who

Scariest shit ever.

I kinda love The Cure doing Purple Haze on the Stone Free tribute cd.

Mang, the entire CD blows.

The best = Led Zeppelin's cover of In My Time of Dying and Jimi hendrix's cover of All Along the Watchtower

I don't care about any other categories, and the original Imagine fuckin sucks.
