Cowboy Bebop LE (import) cool box inside

I was all like "whoa, that looks cool", but then I looked the game up on Play-Asia and got someone to translate the description... seems like basically the extras are just a cellphone strap, an artbook, a T-shirt and a soundtrack CD. Hardly seems worth the extra 85 bucks they're charging for it over the regular edition.

Morphix hope you give us your weekly opinions about the games you get this week. Why dont you buy Tales of legendia (its worth your money if your learning japanese)

I too get misted about why we dont get cool shit like japan gets. Its just like they dont think we care. Well i for one do. And i hate it when all we get are t-shirts. I want cellphone straps and cool boxes too damnit.

THIS is why they don't offer it in the states. :)

Whoa, 85 bucks more! I wouldn't pay that at all. :lol
Besides, I hate having huge obscene boxes mess up the way I display my games and DVDs. :D I hate greatest hits boxarts too! (oh no, not this again)

PA is $40 over priced.

I preordered it for $110 a few weeks ago at NCS and they are selling it for $125 now. Price is going up :lol

B'z-chan I don't import RPGs, well ones that don't have Naruto in their title :)

I'll post some impressions latter.

Ok played it for a lil bit. The game is your basic 3d beat'um with a whole lot of bebop funk on top of it.

Game starts out with our 3 favorite Cowboys talking about something at what looks like an aquarium. The VA from the show reprises their roles from what I can tell, so if you watched the subtitle version your in for a treat.

What follows is your stander training mission, teaches you the fighting controls, square and X are your attacks, O grab and triangle is power move. As you fight your cool meter build and you can use your power move or go into some sort of frenzy when it is fully charged. R1 is your block but it is more like a counter button, it uses you stamina but it lets you dodge and counterattack. It is super easy to follow in game.

Latter on you go into a shooting mode that is like a striped down version of Max Payne. You have your battle time move or you can just use cover and take normal shots.

Played another 2 levels after that witch involved some more fighting, shooting parts, running from a car and a little one on one fight with Jet vs. a bounty. Not too shabby.

The game so far is OK but like with most anime games the license is the real draw and not the game play.

The graphics are great, looks like some kind of light cellshading. It really looks like the anime. The music is godly, some stuff lifted right from the show and some original stuff that is great. Seems the plot revolves around a song called Diamonds and it fits well with the Cowboy Bebop sound if you know what I mean.

I am definitely looking forward to the US release so I can grasp more of the story. I'll just stick the US disc in the cool Japanese box :lol

So it is coming out in North America this fall? Really happy to hear the game uses the same voice actors as well :)

Ebgames has a 10/12/05 release date, and Bandai Games (US) still lists it on their site.

Is that an actual 45 or is it just a cd with a very good looking cover on it?

That is quite possibly the coolest game box I've ever seen. I would buy that for $100 if they released it here, even with the knowledge that the game in all liklihood is complete garbage.

I'd say that's a cd. Anyway, thanks a lot for the awesome impressions, .hacked. So, the music that's new, do you know if it's Kanno? If you're not sure, can you check the booklet for credits? I really hope that when/if this game hits the states, it has a duel language option. The only english actors I had trouble with were Jett and Ed, but Ed's quirkiness was brought over the best it could have been, I suppose, but Jett didn't sound natural enough. At least, more forced than the japanese seiyuu. Is the entire game supposed to be one large session or are each of the level self contained, stand-alone sessions.

Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts did all the music for the game (she has done game music in the past, particularly Napple Tale and many old Koei games). There was a compilation CD entitled "Tank! The! Best!" released back in December, which contains many tracks from the series and film, along with two new vocal tracks from the game: Pearls and Diamonds.
