Crash Bandicoot Remastered

HELL FUCKING YEEEEEESSSSS!

Man, Sony brought their A game and more last night huh? I knew I should have stayed up and watched the conference...

It was a fantastic conference. hardly any waffling on stage just constant reveals and trailers. The longest they spent on stage was bringing kojima out and he was gone within a min. and it only ran for just over an hour.

I got 3 hours sleep after game of thrones and 4 hours after. that's more then I usually get on a weekday lol

The new model is at least close to what crash is just crazier. I'm sure VV will keep true to the original model. They know what crash is. I also hope they bring back the iconic crash font.

Also is this a hint to what the graphics will look like?

I loved the way they announced this, their whole show was completely difefrent to everybody elses but ths announcement was beautifully done. :)

So, awful model included in shitty Skylanders game and "remaster" of the originals so they can release them in every other platform available, even iOS.

Great deal Sony!

I'm done tbh, the only way I'd like something new with Crash was if the rights weren't with fucking Activision. It's confirmed dead now, I'll be replaying Crash 2 forever.

I'm a classic Crash fanboy, but I actually like this new model, it looks like what I expect a modern Crash to look like that stays true to the spirit and art of the original.

the more i look at it, the more crash just looks like a weirdly designed character.

even the old crash...

he just looks weird man.

He was a product of the animal-mascot-with-an-attitude 90s console culture; of course his design wasn't meant to age gracefully.

I think how god damn weird and insane Crash and all the original bosses looked is part of the charm, and why he stood out from all the other mascots with attitude.

latest

I think he lost that when he was redesigned to look like a wacky dreamworks rodent

It's weird that Skylanders of all things is the first thing to recapture the insanity of the original design

Are we looking at the same picture? I don't think "attitude" is the right word for Crash at all.

There is no modern Crash design that wouldn't piss someone off.

The new design is literally the best a 2016 version of a 90s design can look. Eyes are a bit much however.

That skylanders design is honestly a better modern update of crash.

People asking for the ps1 era high poly model used in cutscenes and boxart are absurd. That looks dated both techwise and even art direction is bland by today's standard.

Either way I dont care about Crash but at least happy you crash fans got something out of this. A new crash game by naugthy dog was never gonna happen - they are better at moving on than GAF.

If it's cheap, I'll check it out at launch. Otherwise, it may need to wait. This was a weird announcement, because they tricked people and the presenter mumbled.

I'd be lying if I said I was a huge Crash fan. Growing up, my friend's parents were heavily into it and Tomb Raider on PSX, but I never got the appeal of either, really. I'd like to give it another shot, though.

I did, however, play through and enjoy Mind over Mutant, but I know that's different.

I just spoiled this for my coworker and now I feel awful.

This is really tempting me to buy a PS4. My love for crash is real. The only thing what makes me hesitant is time.

Honestly just make the head a little smaller and he'd look fine. The head as it is now just looks out of place considering how small Crash's body looks in comparison. It's not unsalvageable and he could've turned out a hell of a lot worse than he did. Just look at what those monsters they did to Spyro.

Considering VV made the best Crash game next to Crash 2, XS, I don't think writing off the franchise due to Activision is a good idea.

To each their own, but man, I have no desire to play the Crash Bandicoot games again. Those games should stay in the 90's where they belong. I don't see this ending well, but I guess one never knows.

Can't wait to play the remastered trilogy.
The original games are still among the bst platformers ever released.

Getting Platin in crash 1 is likely gonna be tough.

Is it conceivable that these remasters could come to other platforms? Or so Sony have Crash now?
I don't think so, for the same reason the original games have never appeared on anything but PlayStation. They were published and distributed by Sony, who retains some level of control over those originals.

I'm surprised to read this. Just played Crash 1 and 2 for the first time in the last year or so and was very impressed by how well the level design held up, especially in 2. Definitely held up better than a lot of 3D titles from that era.

Ugh. God. The music during the conference.

But... "fully remastered from the ground up" sounds much more than just the usual remaster. I'd like to think it's going to be remade from the ground up, but unlike, say, Final Fantasy VII, they're not changing anything.

Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy it... I mean, I love the games so much, but that kind of gameplay in this day and age is, questionable?

Whatever. Doesn't matter. Day fucking one.

I'm going to be really skeptical on this until we see what kind of "remasters" we are getting. Pretty disappointed that with all the teasing and build up that there wasn't a new game to go with it, but this sounds like a market test for Crash.

As for the actual remasters, I think graphical and control changes are the bare minimum for whether I buy this. I really hope that they go the full length though and modernize some cases of bad design like the save system or general difficulty of Crash 1.

Isn't that the beach Crash washes up on in Crash 1 with the camera rotated 180 degrees?

Sounds like a pretty neat collection. I only played through half of the original once, replayed that demo beach stage plenty of times. This would be a good way to give it another shot while checking out what came out beyond.

Yeah, it's honestly baffling to read so many posts like that. Despite the fact that the Crash games are consistently among the top selling and highest rated PS1 games on PSN, you still have a bunch of posters come out of the woodwork every time Crash is brought up claiming that the games suck and nobody likes them. What type of bizarro alternate reality universe are those people living in?

Sweet I will buy the remaster version, though I wonder if they add Crash's moves from Crash 2 into Crash 1 and redesign levels to take advantage of it.

That image just gives me Donkey Kong Country vibe.

Crash 2 is the best in the series with only a few flaws such as

-Box counter not telling the total number of boxes in a level

-Camera not panning out when backtracking

-Some gems aren't made clear in how to obtain them

-No checkpoints in the death boat runs.

Really hoping that the remaster will fix those.

2016, what the FUCK man. I have to EAT.

Do we know for sure it's a remaster and not a remake? I would love a complete redesign.

Layton made a point of saying "from the ground up". Considering the success of Ratchet, I don't think it turned out to be a difficult decision for them in the end. The reaction from the crowd and the hype post announcement will only serve to push them on further
