Crash Bandicoot Remastered

Ahh, A new Crash game. The thing everyone wants....but actually doesn't.
What is it with people on NeoGAF trying to retcon how popular other franchises are? Every damn thread we get the same "Crash wasn't good" "People don't want a Crash" "Crash won't sell" "Crash is just 90s 'tude and poochie, therefore bad"

And yet, according to social media charts, Crash Bandicoot is the 7th most talked about game this E3, was one of the most retweeted things during Sony's conference, etc, I've seen nothing but outpouring love for the franchise on Twitter, people even saying they're gonna buy a PS4 cause Crash is back, etc. It gets better when you see things that wouldn't normally tweet about gaming go out of their way to tweet about Crash Bandicoot, I've seen TV channel and radio station Twitter accounts mention Crash Bandicoot.

People like Crash Bandicoot, get over it.

It's good they are doing the Remastered. They probably want to gauge if they should do a completely new game or not.

And what hamfisted reason are you going to come up with for why we "actually don't?" That we "Haven't played it in years and are blinded by nostalgia and should go play them and see how bad they actually held up"? That "Crash is a 90s mascot character with attitude and has no place today"? That "simple platformers don't work with today's market"?

See the post above mine and come off it.

Slightly off topic but I just watched a demo of the Skylanders game that they played during an interview on the Day 1 Livecast and honestly it doesn't look that bad.

He runs incredibly weird looking and it kinda looks stupid. I can't remember how he ran in the PS1/2 games but yeah in the demo the running animation is weird. That could be a Skylanders thing and not a crash thing though. I've never played a Skylanders game so I wouldn't know.

His spin attack actually looks really good. Same with the sliding attack he does. And he's able to use the boxes from the original games as weapons as well.

He does the usual Crash noises and nothing is over-exaggerated which is great imo. I'm glad they didn't turn him into an OTT loud annoying character just to please the kids.

Aku-Aku is also making a comeback so that dialogue can be spoken without the need of crash speaking English which is fantastic news.

If the same people who are making the Skylanders game are also making the remasters then I have full faith that they will keep as much originality as they can and will make a Crash collection that won't piss off a large amount of people.

Yeah, it's getting tiring seeing posts like this..

Why can't people that don't care about Crash stop posting in every single thread that they don't care about it and that others shouldn't and aren't interested in Crash?

Why has there been such a push for a new Crash lately? Not that I'd be opposed. Just seemed to come out of nowhere.

Personally I'd prefer a new Spyro...it was always the better series

I strongly dislike the look of Crash in Skylanders. Between the plastic/clay blob hair/eyebrows, the gigantic squared jaw head that's jutting out from his body, and the weird z-brush texturing on his fur... it's really off putting. I sure hope that isn't the same look they're going with in the remasters. Then again, I've always thought the look of Crash has gotten consistently worse as the series has progressed, even when it was in Naughty Dog's hands.

Makes me worry that I'm not going to like the way the remaster looks in general, which would be a real fucking bummer for me.

The big push has been since the easter egg sign hidden in the PS4 launch trailer, pointing Crash's silhouette going back to Sony

It's the same thing as 90's nostalgia really coming on strong in recent years, leading to shows being renewed/re-aired/etc. Crash was huge in that era, and is nonexistent now. It'd be neat to have him back

Ye i think this is exactly it, and i think they'll find it won't sell very well even with all the love it gets online

"crash is back"
CROWD GOES WILD
"in these remastered games"
CROWD GOES SILENT

One of the funniest E3 moments I've seen

I'd be more likely to agree we hadn't seen the possibilities of a remake with the Ratchet & Clank remake. I thought that was pretty lame when I first heard about it too... then I played through it... then I played through it again... then I started it a third time (and eventually UC4 released...)

R+c was incredible and if it's like that people WILL be happy. This is not a remake it's remaster. Again I could be completely wrong, but by definition a remaster is nothing more than a touch up. I think Sony needs to clarify asap.

This was such an awesome troll by Sony.

"Ok weirdos, here's your goddamn Crash game but it's not going to be a new one, we have zero footage to show you, see you next year probably"

Well im hearing more and more great things here, and I have to say im really excited (they did NOT need to show the Skylanders trailer though)

that guys model looked like a soulless puppet running around. :x
The design is fine, it could be a bit better textured/detailed and more animated though, which a studio could do.

Also, I'd rather have it be "soulless" like that, than the design in Skylanders.

They changed way too many features and he looks plain obnoxious in it to me.

Hopefully if Crash Bandicoot Trilogy Remastered is succesful, we could get a CTR Remastered and a Spyro Trilogy Remastered as well. Well, given Insomniac's independent status, they could even be given the opportunity to revisit the series and give it a Ratchet & Clank makeover. With the Spider-Man announcement, I don't think its impossible for Insomniac to get contracted by Sony and Activision as I feel both have some sort of stake in the games, like with Crash.

I honestly don't care too much about a new game, especially if its coming from Vicarious Visions. I got my wish of both a full remaster and seeing the salt of Skylanders unfold.

Best wishes.

I'm in love with the Skylanders design, I don't know what most of you are smoking. It's basically his original design in current graphics, and it's glorious. Or some of you maybe wants the Dreamworks design back? Hmm..

I think the Skylanders design is mostly fine, but his head should be slightly smaller. I kinda like the look of the figure more than the in-game model too.

He could also do with a wider range of expressions too. Zany wasn't Crash's only look. I think his expressiveness in those PS1 games is part of the reason he stood out among other mascot platformers.

HIs Skylander design's head looks too big, it's more rounded/wider, and his eyes are wider with thicker eyebrows. It just changes the look imo.
I prefer this:

That guy was not even trying. He just ripped the Twinsainty model from the game and slapped it on to that UE4 crap. You have to admit that it does look soulless compared to what's been shown in the Skylanders game.

I'm sorry but this guy's efforts are just as lackluster as that Crytek thing from a few years back.

I'll say it since nobody else will:

not a single shit would be given if it were multiplatform. It's the idea of an exclusive that people have nostalgia for.

It actually all started back in 2013 when Sony threw Crash in a PS4 commerical. Sony has been teasing people for years and we've just been following along. At least I have.

That's BS and you know it. It's the 20th anniversary and people were expecting sony to do something for the guy that kickstarted their success.

I just think people are being too hopeful here, I'm sorry I'm dumping all over it, but I just completely disagree. That skylanders model, his head is too big and his eyes are too menacing. His hair appears all out of sorts. Crash was always goofy as fuuu and wild, but he was also lovable and a good guy. That skylanders figure looks legitimately unstable and menacing, but lacks any sort of the appeal that Crash had as a protagonist. Also his limbs are way too short.

Again, a multiplatform announcement would have been met with the sincerest apathy ever seen, anniversary or not. Exclusive Crash is the only meaningful Crash. If you don't believe that, review the last 15 years.

I wouldn't say the problem with the non-PS1 games was the multiple platforms. A lot of those games just missed the point of what made a Crash game good.

I'm fine with activion/vicarious visions handling the remasters, but I definitely won't be hyped for a new game if it's being developed without Sony having some sort of developmental input on it.

I hope they don't try and tweak the games too much. I want it to look good, but if it doesn't play in the same way the originals did then there's not much point.

I'm optimistic though. The original is my favourite game of all time, I hope it gets the treatment it deserves.

So according to this video, the Crash Skylander can be used on any platform, but I'm struggling to find any sort of official confirmation by Activision themselves. Have they spoken out on this? Because this shines a light on the possibility of timed exclusivity for the remasters.

Oh wow, I had to look up who that was, but I'm out I guess. I've got no interest interest in an Activision developed Crash Bandicoot remaster. Thanks for the info!

What's wrong with Vicarious Visions remaking the Crash trilogy? They can do so much more with the games if they start from scratch. Not only do they know how to make classic Crash work (and have done so in the past), but they're also behind all the Crash stuff in Skylanders Imaginators, which looks exceptionally faithful to the original Crash Bandicoot games.

If they can replicate the gameplay again, I'd say they're fit for the job. VV has proved to be capable.

Old news. They said as much during Sony's E3 conference.
My bad, I didn't catch that during the conference. That's pretty cool! I mean, the first three were by a Sony first party, so they might stay exclusive, but I'm still going to hold on buying a PS4 when this launches, then. After all, Megaman's initial Ninty exclusivity never stopped his legacy collection from being released on other platforms, so who knows?

I think remaking the original Crash trilogy is a smart way to go in building trust in the brand if it's under Activision's control. I would've had blind faith if a new game was being made through a Sony production, but with Activision I'm pretty hesitant. Looking forward to seeing what Vicarious Visions has in store with these.
