Creepy unsolved/paranormal/strange events thread

To whoever recommended the Mysterious Universe podcast - thank you. It's really interesting and the hosts aren't unfun Tonay-level killjoys or mouth-frothing believers either. It's really good.

no worries :D

I was drinking at a friend's house a few nights ago and we started talking about ghosts(the renter of the house and his previous room-mate had heard things and had stuff fall off of shelves in the middle of the night) and we came to the topic of EVPs. He decided to do some googling and we wound up here:
The Most Horrific EVP Ever Recorded

It's rather long(~10mins) and is download only, but it's creepy enough to warrant a download. I tried to research it a bit more, but only found that the owners of the hotel where it was recorded had them agree not to disclose the location or name. And that it is no longer hosted on the CNY ghost hunter site due to bandwidth issues.

Oh and his laptop died a few minutes after we listened to the EVP, but its death was long overdue after numerous tumbles and years of use. It was a funny(and a tiny bit creepy) coincidence at the time.

I have to say that I've changed my mind about the hosts. One of them seems like a sceptic, whereas the other seems to be a full-on Fox Mulder-style believer in Greys, but he tries not to let that interfere with his hosting.
You think? I used to think Aaron was meant to be more that side, but since then he's talked about seeing ghosts and a UFO and had a past-life regression.

I do like that even though they want to believe, they're still willing to call BS on things.

The Gable Film

Part Two WARNING, IT'S PRETTY GRAPHIC

Synopis: First video looks like a home film from the 70's with a bunch of outdoor scenes. At the end the cameraman is rushed by a strange looking creature (the so-called Michigan Dogman). The second video appears to be documenting the aftermath of the attack and it's pretty grisly.

Both
were confessed to being hoaxes, but still
make for some unsettling viewing.

This was the subject of a great episode of Monsterquest.......and the hoax reveal was mind blowing.

That and the "Unidentified Flying Humanoids" episode are my favorites.

I remember reading through the whole slenderman stories and watching the tapes.... Damn those things gave me the chills :lol

Even if they're not real (either hoaxes or have natural explanations) they're still pretty creepy. Some of these photos are actually in the movie as it turns out.
This one just looks like the girl ran into the frame too late while the shutter was already open.

This is probably only amusing to me, but it's an excuse to bump the thread:

So at the beginning of the year I was looking for a place to rent in the neighborhood, and I answered a CL ad for an apartment that needed to go immediately. It ends up being in this huge old mansion right in the middle of the neighborhood that I somehow had never given a second glance. The current tenant opens the front door and the foyer looks exactly like you're imagining--grand staircase, giant portraits, the works. Like, Addams Family mansion. He leads me into what is apparently, and believably, the oldest elevator in Brooklyn, which affords maybe one and a half people and closes with an iron gate. I cannot believe how totally awesomely creepy this building is and I'm thinking to myself, there have to be ghost stories here.

The apartment was in the top floor of one of the corner octagonal towers, so the living space was bizarre--octagonal, obviously, with a very low roof and mailbox-shaped windows. The tenant was Swedish (I think) and had only been there for a month or two and needed to get back to Europe for some immediate and undisclosed reason. I ended up passing on the apartment for several reasons--it was just too inconveniently laid out, there was almost no light, the lease was very sketchy (I was finishing out a sublet or sub-sublet, he was vague) and you cannot imagine a worse firetrap. There was an odd vibe about the whole situation but I didn't want to pry. But still, that building!

Anyway, that was that, but last week I noticed the mansion was featured on Brownstoner.com, and lo and behold right in the blurb, it has a reputation for being haunted! Further research informed me that some servants were allegedly trapped in the elevator and died a hundred-odd years ago while the owners were away, and residents complain of hearing Irish-accented pleas for help. It is totally believable that someone could die in that elevator, trust me.

Short version: I almost lived in a haunted mansion.

Well they sound legitimately scared... And here I just came from gaming side thinking about Fatal Frame.

EDIT: One of the comments on youtube does sound like a decent explanation, could've been a homeless guy waking up, looking out to see what all the noise was, and they got freaked out.

This happened to me a few months back, I was going to sleep and this happened around 3 A.M.

I sleep on a mattress that's placed on a floor and my head rests usually on top of two pillows. Then I felt a hand under the 2nd pillow and it felt like it was moving uncontrollably. I was frightened then the hand suddenly retreated. This is my first ghost encounter apparently. Afterwards, I've started to notice some "apparitions" around my room. I don't seem them but I can feel them and I've seen quick apparitions near my window and door past 3 A.M.

Oh and to add that, we have some dried rose petals that have Marian/Christian images. I could take a picture if you'd like.

Yeah pictures are always nice. Kinda curious as to what those would look like.

Sorry for the poor quality, but this is the best pic i can get. I hope you can make out the face though. Apparently the petals need to be against a light and needs a hi-def cam in order to make out the images.

Also that's my name in the white sheet of paper.

I hope this doesn't spark controversy or anything.

That's the ceiling light.

I just came back from my vacation in Mexico, so the last room in the my grandparent's house, my grandma passed away peacefully and my uncle who had cancer passed away as well in the same room. So when it came time for us to sleep, my baby nephew who is only 2 years old refused to sleep in the room, so me and my uncle took one of the mattress out of the room and as soon as we were getting ready to leave the room, I felt a part of my hair being pulled up, I looked above the ceiling to see if there was like a string that could of got my hair, there was none. I remembered when my uncle was living he used to do that to me or any member of my family when we used to wake up in the morning as form to say good morning, he was always the joked around like that, but my cousin also said he felt some sort of presence in the room at night, he one time told me that before the day I arrived he went in to get the NES out so we can play some games, and he felt like someone was hugging him in the room. I know this ain't creepy, but it was pretty strange.

My Ghost Story

The second story on part one is rather strange. A writer lady and her husband and friends went to Waverly Sanitarium and recorded some balls rolling around and changing direction. What do you think gaf?

Edit: Actually if you've got 5 minutes watch the fifth segment.

Sure, if you want to explain it.

Randomly onto dream based unexplained scary random shit.

1# - About last year I think- or was it this year? Good question. Anyway I was just chilling out asleep and then I woke up- but it was like one of those half awake things, anyway then I here this "boo", like clear as all day- and I fucking belted ay. I was like running on all fours to the fucking bathroom going "ahahahroboahhhahahahaa". And I like climbed up the wall post to find the light in the bathroom and then I just sat there drinking water.

Err.. yeah.

2# - About a week ago was having this weird dream. It was set out like a documentary sort of thing. And I was having a flash of random powerful people like the queen and shit like that. And I heard "all these people found true love in shanghi" then I saw this like garden thing with this tall epic temple thing and when the dream directed me into the temple which was bare, I woke up all hot and scared and shit.

Not as paranormal as the first one but yeah.

Someone I knew once visited an abandoned hospital at night. They came back telling a terrifying story of how they saw a ghost there, a shadowy, haunted spirit of one of the dead that roamed the halls there.

She KNEW it to be true because, well, it was a hospital and likely someone who died with unfinished business would remain on the site of their unfair, untimely death. She planned to go back and find out what this lost soul wanted done so she could free its spirit.

Then I told her that wasn't an abandoned hospital, it was actually an old government building where they did a lot of taxes and paperwork, and it closed down for renovations that got stuck by red tape and bureaucracy.

She got really, really mad at me for showing her this.

What made her think it was a hospital.

Just a general assumption, I think people referred to it as "the abandoned hospital" a few times as it was a big grey monolithic building with lots of windows and rooms in the middle of downtown Chicago.

I think I experienced this 2 nights ago. It was about 4am, I was tired as shit and driving home when out of nowhere a very loud gunshot rang out and scared the shit out of me. It confused me how it sounded so close to me, but thinking about it now I'm sure it came from 'inside' my head like in EHS cases.

Theres a new paranormal show that airs on the sci-fi channel now. Its called Fact or Faked: paranormal files, and its actually pretty decent. Whats cool about this show is that they actually come to a conclusion about what they choose to investigate, and they actually go after some of the more popular paranormal videos found on the internet.

I guess you could say its kinda like TMZ meets Monster/UFO hunters. The investigators each seem to bring up an interesting video/ case, and then decide on which ones to go investigate.

http://www.syfy.com/factorfaked/

Comes on Sundays and Thursdays.

This was one of the more interesting cases from the last show:

Nightcrawler

Night crawler second footage

Its the original case footage from the person they contacted, which he recorded off his security monitor (im sure most of that episode is on the website now). Whats so strange about it is the thing looks unnaturally skinny, and has a odd gait.

Need some more stories guy! Help a bored fellow out!

I have a lot more to share...

Ok let me share a story that happened to my Father.

My Father was over his best friend's friend who just got married. Well my Father's friend wife was upstairs in the bedroom. Well my Father was in the living room sitting and was about to leave his Friend's place after dinner. Well then he saw a bright light orb that hovered into the bedroom of his friend... My Father was frightened, but he did not want to say anything as it was really strange. Well the strange part is this... The wife of my father's friend died exactly a week later at the same time.

According to my Father, both his friend and his friend's wife were healthy... It was strange death as doctors could not point out how she died.

Anyone else besides Zapages? :P

hehe, Just teasing.

My mom has told me a bunch of stuff that's happened to her but I don't remember the exact details. I'll have to talk to her again and write it down for you guys. I've already shared all my personal ones I think..

Well, except this one story that I can't really remember if it was a dream or real.

One of my aunts used to live in a very wooded area and one night my parents and I went to go visit them. Now the reason I think it was real was because in my memory I was playing video games with my cousins while I was there. The part I have problems with is the drive home. It was probably about 10pm when we started driving home and I laid down in the backseat. I started looking up towards the sky and see that it is raining and I can see the lightning. A few minutes later I see this saucer really bright above the trees and just going the same direction we were.

That's all I remember. I guess I would say it's a dream considering what the story is about but I can picture it so clearly and do remember playing with my cousins. Perhaps I just fell asleep in the back seat? lol

Interesting note about this from Youtube commentary:

SuperKaitie333

She was in college with her dormmates, and they literally FREAKED OUT (well, that's what she said at least). She said she, like, ran the perimeter of the building and ran into a tree, which is how she met my father, who found her unconcious near the tree, then asked her to the prom after alerting the nurse. :) So without this guy I would have never have been born.

THANK YOU, MAX HEADROOM PERSON!
That is so amazing :lol

The only amazing thing about that is inappropriately using the word 'like' in the middle of a written sentence.

Its the will of the GAF.

Another paranormal activity is how all B level celebrities seem to have ghost stories on the Bio channel. Is it the hauntings that keep them from making it big, or is it because they need more cash they make up ghost stories? I feel hypocritical at times watching it late at night because I find the fictional stories interesting & the human mind & it's ability to lie so readily interesting.

Sure it wasn't your own hand? I can recall one instance when I was sleeping, but woke up in the middle of the night. I rolled from my back onto my right side while lifting my hands up to my pillow, not realizing that my left arm had fallen asleep (it was completely numb). I slapped myself in the face with my numb arm which, obviously, scared the crap out of me. Once I started to regain feeling in my arm I realized what happened and had a chuckle at the fact that I 'ghost-punched' myself.

Just saying.

This has been my favorite ghost pic since I was very little. For the longest time, I thought the candelabra was the head of the ghost (eyes and a bear's nose) until many years later I realized it was the hooded figure on the railing, which is a bit less creepy.

I think I remember a book where they said that the image was originally taken in color, though. Not sure if a copy of it is online...

just so i'm sure, just who's father was he?

Pretty sure I had sleep paralysis last night.

I find myself lying in bed quite groggily, and my bed begins to shake uncontrollably. I remember thinking that I was just feeling the air conditioner kicking on or something, but I slowly realize it's shaking quite violently. As this is going on, the dark blue curtains that I can just make out in the darkness start to leave their positions at my window and float around the bed, quite threateningly. I'm just groggy enough to be able to deal with this and eventually go back to sleep.

Pretty crazy stuff.
