Some obvious cutbacks, but it looks surprisingly good on Switch 2 IMO.

Mod: Thread locked due to source

It never looked amazing, it just had great lighting/RTGI.

Mod edit: please note, this channel has made some egregious errors in the past that seemed to not be in good faith, and were only corrected in small footnotes. Some example are below from the time we made the decision. We have revisited this yearly at various times, but given there is no voiceover, statistics etc. We don't generally allow threads about performance started by this channel, though it does have utility in small eyeball checks.

It's an absurd comparison, of course it will look much better on PS5 than on Switch 2.
Well, most ports don't look too different on Switch 2, this one looks bad imo, the low LOD meshes were used for the main geometry and some textures look bad, this studio didn't do a good job but a good enough one just to make it to release date

Have both a Switch 2 and a PS5, and for trophies alone, PS5 version would get my purchase. I know many don't care about that stuff, but many of us do and will base our purchase decision on it when we have both systems.

I'm surprised this is on Switch 2 in the first place, tbh.

Silent Hill 2? Was that bad at launch too?
On PC there were tons of stuttering issues.

The PS5 version also had problems from what I remember. A lot of people were waiting for the superior Pro version but it ended up being worse. Bloober promised a patch and has yet to deliver.

Game looks to have some drops in 40fps on PS5 but they last for a moment (traversal stutters). General gameplay is 60 with drops but all in VRR window so not too bad.

Switch looks locked 30, not bad as well.

Why are Switch 2 owners so obsessed with graphics and performance all of a sudden? I thought it was all about having fun and playing with your portable. Now there seems to be a new DF thread everyday.

PS5 owners need their daily reassurance that their plastic box performs better than a low-power hybrid 🤷‍♂️

Nice to have if that's your only option to play and/or you highly value portability. Other than that it's almost always going to be better to play it somewhere else with at least a higher framerate. Still nice to have for those wanting to play it on the platform.

The resolution was so low on the gameplay I saw for Switch 2 that I could probably build a starway leading to the moon with all the awful jaggies that were visible.

I bet a patch or two is in the works.

For a tablet (less than $500) that I can fit in my pocket, thats not half bad.

Now Imagine if they didn't have to rush development to make "launch window" for Switch 2. Either way, kudos to Blooper Team (for all versions)

Indeed. People here complaining about 30fps or a lower resolution or not round enough archways, all while the Switch 2 is pulling things off that no handheld in history has done before.

I'm not even a Nintendo guy! It's just impressive and bodes well for the future of handhelds in general, with the PS6 handheld and the Xbox Ally and SteamOS handhelds, etc..

So, what exactly is the Switch2 doing that no other handheld has done before? It's UE5, but they've disabled its main features, such as Lumen and Nanite. This game could probably run on UE4 and look the same.

It's a comparatively thin, lightweight, cool, quiet handheld with low power consumption and good battery life running modern PS5 era UE5 games day one with solid performance and IQ, all for $449.

Of course it's cut down, but that's extremely impressive any way you slice it.

Running the game stable, for starters. I wouldn't bet on Steam Deck running this well, UE5 games on that thing (especially those in older builds) need 240p internal resolutions to barely hit 30s, and look like utter shit.

I just wonder why 90% of the time they ll show docked footage instead of handheld, i think the majority of ppl the bought Switch is to play on the go :pie_thinking:

It really is amazing how far handheld gaming has come since the Vita/3DS. We are now basically getting " full console parity" in the palm of our hands when that was practically an impossibility...

*Flashbacks of Borderlands 2 on Vita.. 😬
