Minimum Requirements

CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8ghz
Graphics: Nvidia 6600/X800GTO (SM 2.0)
RAM: 768Mb/1Gb on Windows Vista
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 256k+
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9.0c with Windows XP

Recommended Requirements

CPU: Dual-core CPU (Athlon X2/Pentium D)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800GTX/ATI X1800XT (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent
RAM: 1.5Gb

I'm guessing this:
CPU Type Intel Pentium 4 650, 3400 MHz (17 x 200)

doesn't count as dual core although it's shown as

CPU #1 / HTT Unit #1 0 %
CPU #1 / HTT Unit #2 35 %

man wtf. how many people actully have this specs?

gaming console ftw :(

there is a reason i am not into PC gaming. because in every AAA game, i must somehow upgrade my pc. 1.5G ram? screw this. PS360 ftw

Well,my PC even exceeds the recommended requirements :lol (although I feel that this game will run well at the top settings only with the next gen GPUs coming at the end of this year)
Now I just have to change the OS :D

ive had a 4400x2 and 7800gtx for about 6 months, i have 4 gigs of ram but windows doesnt read it all so I only installed 2 gigs.

nothing major there really , my pc is 2 and half years old and is a athlon 64 3200@3800,1gb and 6800gt@ultra so im comfortably over the minimum specs already , building a new conroe pc next week though anyway.

Don't know what the hell you guys are on, those RAM requirements are pretty standard. I was sure that every PC gamer has at least 2GB of DDR.

HTT (Hyperthreading Technology) isn't DualCore, a dual-core device contains only two independent microprocessors.

Windows XP can only see up to 3GB, even then, I'm sure your mobo can't see more then 3GB too. Windows Vista supports up to 4GB of RAM, so just install the beta.

Second Edit: I totally forgot, the 32 bit version of Windows Vista supports only up to 4GB, for obvious reasons. The 64 bit version of Vista supports up to 128GB.

Hmmm, my laptop should run it fine then i guess, im within the recommended specs, just not sure i want to upgrade to vista just for dx10 and one game, that OS looks like total shit.

The question we're all wanting to know, is it possible for Xbox 360 and/or PlayStation 3 to run Crysis?
Considering that the only E3 movie that as shown was it on the 360, I'd think so. It's just the 360 version is going to be like the 32 bit Farcry and the PC version will be like the 64 bit Farcry.

BAD 360, YOU TRIED TO CUT IN LINE! NO HDR WITH 8XAA AND 16XAF FOR YOU!

The trick to Pc gaming without spending tons of money is paitience. If you are paitient you wil be able to buy the hardware and software for great prices. Pc gaming has the ultimate in backwards compatability. Every time i upgrade or replace a pc i have a ton of games to choose from, i'm not bothered that they are 1-2 years old.

Trying to keep your pc ready to play every game that presents a graphical milestone is very expensive, but no one is forcing you to.

"If I recall, the Crysis engine is being ported to the PS3, not the actual game."

All that's been mentioned is porting CryEngine 2, not Crysis, yup.

"There is a reason i am not into PC gaming. because in every AAA game, i must somehow upgrade my pc. 1.5G ram? screw this. PS360 ftw"

From the looks of this (stupid) post, it looks like you're not into PC gaming period, thus your pc is way behind the curve as is. 1.5gb of ram is A) ridiculously cheap B) roughly what any PC gamer already has and has had for nearly 2 years.

And given the minimum specs, Crysis is sorta proof of what PCs can do when you don't pander to the common denominator and really push the hardware that's out there. That's probably the reason why Crysis looks better than any other game that's been shown so far.

If Epic studios didn't come out with a game TWO YEARS after the engine is completed, maybe their game (sometimes games, when they feel like it) would look up to par.

Yes I meet the recommended specs other than the Vista and DX10 of course

I fall in the middle, but when you take the monster Dell screen resolution into consideration, i figure i'll be towards the bottom of all the graphic option sliders.

Based on the screens alone this would not surprise me at all. The engine no doubt demands one hell of a powerful PC.

Keep in mind that Steam traks all the people who can still only play DoD and CS. Not the source versions, the original.
No...it's everyone on Steam. Doesn't matter what game you play.

My PC reaches the minimum requirements. ...but we all know what minimum requirements usually mean. :(

Yeah, I've always thought it would be nice if generally specification requirements and recommendations were accompanied by the settings at which you'd be able to play the game using such specs (and - gasp - maybe even a screenshot or footage). I mean 'recommended' will give me what? Is that for medium settings or high or..?

Basically it tells us we gonna be needing a DX10 card, with the early nVidia ones coming out in like October and Radeon's next year.

But really, do we have a desire to play Crysis? Why play Crysis when you can play Supreme Commander and C&C3.

... I just upgraded to 1.5 cause a couple games were crashing with Virtual Memory off..
Suggesting 1.5 is a whole nother matter

That's the point that I was trying to make. I'm pretty sure that Project Gordon, CS and DoD have the lowest system requirements for anything else on Steam. A lot of people I know who aren't big into PC gaming still have theirs around for the sole use of DoD, CS and UT'99.

snapping!! my PC matches exactly Minimum Requirements! :lol

Holy shit!

I was looking to upgrading my piece of shit, top of the line in 1998 PC to a Pentium dual-core 2.66 GHZ, but seems that doesn't even meet Crysis minimum requirements. :lol

Generally the way it works out is something like this:
Minimum - Unplayable on minimum settings.
Recommended - Unplayable on medium settings.
Above - Unplayable on high settings.

My pc is 3 years old and still above the minimum. Only thing I did was to swap out a broken 9800pro for a 6600GT. It's not _that_ bad guys.

If your PC is truly three years old, the CPU be right on the damn borderline.
