Yeah and Days Gone took what?, 6 years to release?. Remember it was shown off before the PS4 was even released.

Already cleared up, carry on..

Yeah, and it sucked, so MS is doing right.
No, the game sucked regardless of technical issues.HAHAHA sure. It sold 5.5 million copies. Though not liked because of it';s technical issues on launch the open critic for it was much different than the Metacritic rating.
A little harsh as there has only been one other PD game since then.I still think it's funny that Microsoft even thought this property was worth reviving. It was always a shit IP. Hell, Fable is a pretty mediocre IP, but it's gold compared to this.
Perfect Dark was only ever worth a damn when it was a reskinned Goldeneye, and that was over *twenty* years ago.
Its not a acaquisition, they are just working together on this game.Interesting! Seems to be an interesting move. Microsoft might fold them into the initiative and they could just be the new initiative since Gallagher was the head of both studios. This could give them that super hero third person studio.
Lmao according to you Sony announcing games that come out 4 to 5 years later is also poor management? Is this your logic?Early development? WTF have they been doing at Initiative for past 3 years?
Welcome to Microsoft's studio management.

Welcome to Microsoft's studio management.
I'm saying this opens the door for that as Gallagher had ran both studios and the initiative had pretty much most of the best talent from crystal dynamics that went over with him.Its not a acaquisition, they are just working together on this game.

First of all, they always announce games early. Let's not act like this is nothing new. Next, they only just announced Perfect Dark last year... The Initiative, everybody knows, is a brand new studio that was building up with talent, and didn't have enough devs yet. Common sense isn't that hard on this one.
Didn't they loose the games lead designer to…Insomniac?First of all, they always announce games early. Let's not act like this is nothing new. Next, they only just announced Perfect Dark last year... Sold many copies and there was a petition = the game didn't suck. Got it.It doesnt which is why there was a petition for a sequel, and it sold 5.5 Million copies which is not bad for a new IP. Keep trying.
IT also was steams #1 for couple weeks in a row for best sellers. So obviously people like it. It's similar to Sea of theives, rough launch but a lot of the people who bought it and stuck with it dug it.
But for Sony 5.5Million and a low meta critic score didnt cut it so sequel was scrapped. Go look at the quality of the shooting, controls for motorcycle and world they built. Its super impressive on a modest studio size. And for a studio that had no made a AAA game in over a decade.
You probably get that feeling because Shuhei Yoshida teased the project during the PS4 launch event on Nov 2013, where when asked about how he'd define Bend's project with a single word he said "panic". Then in the spring of 2014 the game got leaked to be an open-world horror game with the working title "Dead Don't Ride". Days Gone was one of those projects that were heavily rumored for a while and of which new tidbits of information emerged every couple of months up until it's formal reveal at E3 2016.Yeah i think thats the one. Wow i honestly thought that was shown way before 2016. It seems so long ago.
In fact thats a point, Square own CD dont they?, how can Microsoft hire them for this?
Yeah you're probably right reading all this.It probably was because Shuhei Yoshida teased the project during the PS4 launch event on Nov 2013, where when asked about how he'd define Bend's project with a single word he said "panic". Now regarding this news, well, I'm not surprised to see that SE has done something as unorthodox as this with Crystal Dynamics (after all, there were discussions for even more drastic measures regarding the studio's future) as I am about the fact that they are helping out with Perfect Dark. In any case, I'm glad this is happening, because The Initiative seemed a little unprepared in terms of staff to tackle full production on Perfect Dark all by themselves.
I would guess they paid Square a good amount of money for it.If this all goes well, how long before 'Microsft buying Square Enix rumours start?
In fact thats a point, Square own CD dont they?, how can Microsoft hire them for this?
Agree to disagree, I think all 3 reboot games were great. (8 or 9 out of 10)No, no. OG Tomb Raider is great. Newer reboot is 'couldn't give a fuck' material. And newer reboot Lara is forgettable shite.
Well that might be why CD was brought on board, The Inititive simply didnt have the manpower to finish the game any time soon.I dunno if that's a good thing or not these days and how long is this shit going to be/stay in "early development"?
A little harsh as there has only been one other PD game since then.
Its ripe for videogame conversion. Spy conspiracy riddled thriller with a sci-fi angle and grey aliens etc.
I just hope they keep the woke shit down to a minimum.
Shadow sucked for me. Loved the first 2 games though.Agree to disagree, I think all 3 reboot games were great. (8 or 9 out of 10)
Well, why does it matter that its an old IP if it will probably play nothing like it? Its been 20 years, the IP is just a name, they can do whatever they want with it.Oh yeah, I'm sure they can make something good from it. There's potential.
I just think Microsoft needs new, interesting IP. They've been stuck on bloody Halo Gears Forza for over a generation and they think the best response is reviving moribund stuff like Fable and Perfect Dark? Just seems weird to me. Hey, at least they've got Bethesda, though. Maybe nothing else much matters after that.
Didn't they loose the games lead designer to…Insomniac?
Wasn't Shadow mostly developed by Eidos?Shadow sucked for me. Loved the first 2 games though.
From what i read it was Square themselves that forced CD to go in the 'less action more puzzles' angle with Shadow, after a vocal minority wouldnt shut up about the first 2 games 'not being what TR is about'.

And again same as with Fable announcement Microsoft needs to shut the fuck up until they have something they can show. You will see in a year a trailer with gameplay for Spiderman 2 and Wolverine.
I think so. I know CD were more a support studio on that game. In fact they were probably making The Avengers at the time too.Wasn't Shadow mostly developed by Eidos?
As long as they are just there for support sure. If they are taking a major role not super excited about that.
I don't expect AAA/AAAA games to be produced in 3 years and build a studio. What I don't expect is that is "early development". To me it should be "mid development" by now. Early suggests it's nowhere. Mid suggests it's worthy of announcements and trailers. Especially when Phil/Xbox come out as saying no more 2-3 years in advance announcements. It's too long to be showing trailers if a game is 3 years away still.Games take 4-5 years to make and that's with asset reuse, established code and tools, established studio space/HR/operations, etc. Why do some of y'all expect a game to come out in 3 years lol. The only thing reused is the IP in name
What a bullshit commentLOOOL, super AAAA studio needs help.
Well dang, I was going to say wth happened to The Coalition. Weren't they helping out? But I forgot that was just a rumour lol.Well that might be why CD was brought on board, The Inititive simply didnt have the manpower to finish the game any time soon.
Its Insomniac, it will probably be out in a year lol.
No one has said thats whats happening though. I'm 100% certain the design of the game, and all the major decisions will be done by The Initiative. I just dont think they have the manpower. In fact i'm sure i read the team was only around 50, although that was a while ago now.Absolutely the wrong decision. this team has been in pre-production for over three years now. they shouldve been up to 200-300 or whatever an AAA game needs nowadays. There is absolutely no need to bring in Crystal Dynamics as a contract studio when you are a first party studio located in LA. Go and get some people from LA. Every studio from ND to SSM, Infinity Ward, Crystal Dynamics and Insomniac is there. If you cant create a team in LA, you are not doing it anywhere.
CD is a great studio and might help them ship this game in 3-4 years but thats not how you build first party studios. Outsourcing asset creation is one thing, but entire game development?

I know right. It's now 5 As since they teamed up with CD.What a bullshit comment![]()
A lot of recent MS's announcements feel pretty premature. The Outer Worlds 2 trailer literally made fun that it was still in the conceptual stage.Lmao according to you Sony announcing games that come out 4 to 5 years later is also poor management? Is this your logic?
If you're just going to talk out of your ass at least back it up with facts. Turn 10 was rebuilding their entire pipeline for next gen and rebooting the series. Hence why they were giving the time and playground went back to back this time because the next forza won't be cross gen. Zenimax bathesda is proven commodity. Coalition is top tier. Double fine is solid rare is at its most successful even if sea of thieves isn't most people's cup of tea on here.I don't have any confidence in xbox development teams apart from playground games, I haven't for a long time.
Even turn 10 are now dragging their feet.
Nope one A for every Developer involved with the Game.I know right. It's now 5 As since they teamed up with CD.
