Note that the good stuff really gets going at 1:43:00 when Dr. Cornell West starts into his speech. After this Farrakhan kicks off (1:46:xx) one of the best speeches I've heard him give in a LONG LONG time.

I do recommend watching the whole thing when you have the time.

I watched Dr. West and Farrakhan talk and they both were strikingly good orators. I always thought Farrakhan was a loon, he may still be, but at least I can see why so many people follow his word.

Plus, the audience was freakin hilarious. I thought I was watchin Night at the Apollo instead of some academic forum.

Farrakhan has always been portrayed counter to his character. Many people both white AND black don't *really* want him to gain much momentum as a leader because of what he calls for: accountability, responsibility, self reliance, and actually getting off ones ass.

I'm not a particular fan of the Nation of Islam, but I have always enjoyed listening to Farrakhan's speeches because he is most always hitting the nail on the head more than we'd care to admit.

But watch the whole thing - ALL of the people on stage are actually excellent speakers.
