How sad. It's really sad that there are people who pretend to be christian who obviously do not follow Christ's teachings. Christ taught people to love. He didn't care if someone was a whore or what they were. He still loved them. These bigots clearly don't get that.
What if they really enjoyed reading Leviticus' stuff?

Stop twisting the lord's word, he wants as few people in heaven as he can possibly manage according to these brave Christian soldiers.

This is stupid. I don't tip based on race, ethnicity, beliefs, or orientation. I tip based on service. That's that.

If you remember that I ordered and swing by with a drink or two, you're getting a tip. Extra if you're funny or cool. Don't have tip criteria other than that.

Is there any particular reason that they censored the homosexual slurs? Anyway this is typical old conservate folks. Hateful idiots that thankfully will be gone soon.

They can choose not to tip someone for whatever reason they want. Telling them why is just stupid though. Why can't people just shut the fuck up?

How the fuck was the sexual orientation of the waiter disclosed to the customers? Do people go around asking if anyone is gay or not?

My Girlfriend is a LGBT waitress... so this just makes me think how hard she has it.

Fuck Fundamentalist assholes that don't even understand that if they were good Christians they would not judge others.

I don't Believe in religion but lets play what if

What if jesus was gay though? Hence no mention of a girlfriend, because he had a boyfriend instead.

Those customers can suck shit. So weird how they're perfectly fine being served by him yet so very offended by his very existence at the same time.
Oh, don't worry. If those assholes ever come back to the restaurant, I'm sure that's what will happen. Or so I hope.

Please make a thread, I would love to have this discussion with the rest of Off-Topic.

It's more likely Jesus was like every other cult leader (in modern history) and was banging the wives and daughters of his disciples instead. That seems to be the way those things go.

Atheists and agnostics: Don't hate Christians. Hate the fundamentalists.

Couldn't fundies potentially be against homosexuality but still believe in Christ's teachings of forgiveness and not hating the sinner? A fundamentalist with a good heart could still tip a gay server. I don't know much about it but it seems like these gross customers were christian in name only and not actually interested in upholding what Christ taught.

Okay, bud. Let's turn the hyperbole down to 3. Just for once in your life.

The battle for gay rights has been largely framed as a civil rights issue, thus the comparison is not really that hyperbolic. There are very clear differences in the cases, but there are also many strong similarities. Why don't you address the comment and refute it instead of merely dismissing it so you don't have to?

I always thought that science would lead to the decline of the popularity of religion.

I was wrong . . . it is irrational gay hatred that is really damaging religion's reputation. People realize that there is no rational reason to bash gays and I think it is taking a big toll on the popularity of organized religion among young people.

Of course I think science helped inform this matter by showing that homosexuality occurs naturally and in many other mammal populations.

In the very thread where I espouse ignoring nonsense, you expect me to engage in the very thing? I'll leave the battle over false equivalencies to others.

I actually wonder if these people just go around saying things like this everywhere they go; supermarket, coffee shop, video store etc.

Just ignore it™

ToxicAdam approved solution to all life's issues.

How far is that place from Westboro Baptist? Sounds like something a Westboro member would say, especially given their gratuitous use of the "F" word

topeka's about an hour and a half away from OP. that being said, just because this happened in kansas doesn't automatically make them WBC members as there are biggots everywhere. overland park is actually a really nice city to live in. plenty of friendly people.

As someone who gets very easily frustrated with hyperbole, I'm not exactly seeing anything hyperbolic about his statements.

We shouldn't be silent about these types of events -- without calling people out and showing support, it allows for casual homophobia to persist. It also sends a message to the community, maybe those in the closet, that there are pillars of support. Ignoring them is enabling.

What the poster in question was saying was that without taking action against bigotry, you cannot expect for change to happen in any community. Not that this particular situation is somehow analogous to Jim Crow.

We need to make stories like this news.

I'm pretty positive it was "fags".
For some reason I was thinking a different part of speech the way the sentence was structured. " Buggery " was the only thing that came to mind but I'm not sure that's a slur. Regardless it's definitely not going to be used by some Kansas evangelicals.

Do it at your own peril. Seek to make enough "major events" like this news and you could undermine everything else that has been fought for.

Instead of having your opinion respected and listened to, you will just be marginalized and scoffed at. Like what has happened to PETA over the past few decades.

I live in Kansas. How is this national news? The mid-west is filled with bigoted idiots, this shit happens every day.

As a fellow mid-westerner? This shit isn't going to get any better, until bigoted people are shamed for their behavior. Not encouraged or ignored.

All joking aside, I don't think the connection to PETA (deserved ridicule for deserved foolishness) makes any sense at all and really don't understand what leads you to believe this to be true.

Just another example that moderate Republicans are a myth

You called this "embarassing all around" as if the waiter had enaged in something like what the customers had, and then decry false equialencies?
