GamingBolt had a chance to speak to level designer Miles Tost and asked about the challenges faced during development.

Was there any truth to statements about Cyberpunk 2077 not being able to run on current gen consoles? Tost simply noted that, "Recently released titles have shown us that there's still a lot of juice left in the current generation and I continue to be amazed by what's being done."

Would current gen consoles be able to pull off the NPC count and fidelity that was showcased in the demo? "Looking at the games released at the beginning of this generation and comparing them to some of the absolutely amazing looking recent titles, we can see quite an astonishing difference. Devs are a resourceful bunch — we figure out new and better ways of using and optimizing tools we work with all the time," said Tost.

I will wait for a version with all the DLC included like Witcher 3 or play it on PS5. I loved Witcher 3 got it at launch but after playing the DLC... I wished i waited for the updates at least. Better menu, alternate movement, fix for the ridiculous fall damage, etc...

I'm sure the current gen consoles can run it. I'm also sure the inevitable Xbox 4/PS5 'Game of the Year' version will also be 10 times better.

They will pull just a witcher 3 remark with downgrades. That simple.

"lots of things change over time"

"lots of things change over time"
aka "We showed off the game on pc and we haven't fully tested if these features are compatible with the limitations of the consoles yet" so cue downgrades and then "parity" because systematic optimizations have to follow.

Mid-generation/Gen8.5 refresh hardware might have some "juice" left, but the earlier Gen8 boxes are tapped and wind up running games sluggishly at best versus their Gen8.5 upgrades.

Gen9 will be even better— and at least a few AAA releases will get upgraded Gen9 versions, following in GTAV's footsteps.
