Still about to watch it but looks interesting...

Edit: Nevermind, he doesn't say which are his graphics settings

This is all cool, but can we just cut the shit and get some good clean direct feed handheld mode footage please.

How is it undocked? This is the question that must be answered.

DLSS is really a secret sauce for Switch 2

540p DLSS is cleaner than the PS4 version.

So wouldn't it make sense to compare it to other portable devices while it's in that mode like ROG Ally and Steam Deck?
Aye, fifteen minutes of battery then.

I love the premise of having these eye candy games portable but their just not viable. I'll buy a boxed copy though, as I always do (if it's complete on the cart)

And if we're getting wowed by what it looks like when the handheld console is plugged into the wall and on a TV then what's really exciting here? We've been able to do that with Cyberpunk for a few years now.. :pie_thinking:

Ergo, it comes back to how good it looks portable.. and we're back to fifteen minutes.

As I said, I love the premise, we just need better batteries for this stuff. I'm much more interested in how it plays the old library, Xenoblades etc personally

It'd be even better if I could get a pre order, mind you :messenger_unamused:

Portable Mode will have adjusted settings tailored around that mode's wattage use.

There is no way that any Switch 2 game will last only fifteen minutes handheld.

I don't think anything will exist that lasts less than an hour, and that's my very most conservative, doomsday estimate, if every wheel flies off.

Nintendo is waaaay too obsessed with this stuff. They disabled a large amount of power in the Switch 1 chip just to ensure your battery would last longer. They won't design a system where it can drain that fast. This type of stuff, is exactly why someone would choose a Switch instead of Steam Deck despite the power gulf, everything is already fool-proofed to Just Work™

So around fifteen minutes of battery time then I take it?

Probably about two hours. That's the bottom of the Switch 2's estimated battery range, and I don't remember any Switch 1 software that performed well below the bottom of its estimated range. Maybe you could get it down to an hour and a half with max brightness.

Quick reminder that you can't really compare docked switch 2 videos to the steamdeck, something that stays in hand-held mode performance wise.

No, plugging the deck in only charges the battery, it doesn't allow it to use any extra processing power or resources.
Well, then why are some people still comparing Switch 2 to Deck if it's not even in the same ball park in docked? Deck is even less capable compared to Switch 2 portable

This is fresh from 6 hours ago. This PC dude is comparing it to the latest DLSS tech and is shocked.

Witchcraft. This model is way beyond CNN's and seems tailored made for low internal resolutions while PC DLSS is generic from low to high res. This one seems more tailored made for easy 540p→1080p with insane inference quality.

So we shouldn't compare docked switch with the steam deck because the steam deck is 100% portable?

But somehow, it's ok to compare the hybrid switch with tethered consoles with 10 times the power budget?
Got it

The SteamDeck connected to the wall and at maximum TDP, the Switch 2 wins.
