Probably, but d00ds get more hyped up for violence and sex than females its easier for men to get into that zone than females. Testosterone. Sometimes its an advantage, sometimes its not. Its obvious the gamespot reviewer chick doesn't like this type of stuff and its not an odd reaction for her to have.
What kind of bullshit is this? Your gender has nothing to do with it. . Kyle bossmann for example is the same with the same arguments he even is so vile to spoil on of the endings of the game. They are just easily triggered while understanding nothing about cyberpunk
Seems reviews have been very kind to this game. It could have been "Day's Goned" but it hasn't. Then again exclusives vs. big third party multiplats are not judged the same: Valhalla got a pass too. The shenanigans regarding the console versions is quite intriguing. Shipping an early access game it feels like. For me personally that won't be an issue as I won't buy this game until the next-gen patch is out there and everything settles down (patches etc) - sufficient time, with a sufficient backlog on PS5. Game definitely has good elements to it with the way reviews read. Looking forward to reading what Gaffers have to say.
Alt boys can't cry foul here considering the current review meta.
The culture war is a double sided coin tho.... so not surprised to see SJW circles going after it. Just like alt boys went after TLOU II.
I'm most likely going to play a biological female in the game, as I try to avoid gender dysphoria wherever possible. Still, I'm half tempted to play the game with a transgender protagonist just so I can see how non-transphobic the game really is.

Her public mobster-style attempt to secure a partnership with CDPR failed and perhaps she feels the need to rub it in their faces. As thought there were any reasonable doubt Polygon would cater to their core audience.
No, Anita. You still have no good arguments, no evidence and, last but not least, still no lucrative business partnership with CDPR.
please tell me she was not actually proud of the opening 7 paraghraps about the succes of a game being about trans issues
what he fuck
I thought she was on the good side and condemming it but apprently I'm wrong in that lol
The polygon is crazy on a whole other level and they should be revoked from ever counting on critics sites ever again. What the hell
If you want to focus on that issue do it in a seperate article if you find it so important. But apprently they cant be proffesional enough to just review a game for what it is
Holy shit the gamespot review, now inside that reviewer's brain :
Reminder, an RPG
Barely ever crafted
Almost never changed gear
Did not do sidequests because one of them had cops and she does not like cops(?)
Ignored quests because she had more important things to do
Not interested in combat (ok, but might i reminder, you're a fucking reviewer? This ain't your couch session)
Used mantis blades once
Did not bother with gun attachments.
Did not understand what was in inventory, because she did not have time
Guns did not feel like Call of Dooty (duh) early on, because oh i don't know, again, RPG? (Deus Ex for fuck's sake?)
A depressing game by design (dystopia?), stuck in 80's style (cyberpunk?), she's disapointed (what did she expects?)
You can't make this shit up. My fucking girlfriend who can barely play Mario Kart even with assists because she sucks so much at videogames would have gotten more content out of this game than this Gamespot reviewer.
What a piece of trash review.
I want to become a food critic by just moving my fork through the plate, then give a bad review of the restaurant because i was not in the mood to try it.
wow i do not like what im hearing about in multiple reviews now about how the game just has tons of side meaningless side content crammed into it. i was hoping it would be more like an immersive sim than a map game with people spamming me with jobs
That GameSpot review is rubbish, and I rarely if ever contend with reviews since I understand their subjective nature. But holy shit, what agenda-riddled nonsense.
What are you? Like a deep ERA Troll sent here to make this site look bad with this BS? I don't care for the review, but I don't think the opinions of the reviewer have anything to do with their sex versus them being heavily into pandering. No more of this please.
Some people put too much stock into reviews. The average of 91, especially nowadays when not many games break that threshold, is an excellent score. Besides, does it really matter that CP2077 isn't couple of points higher on Metacritic? It's still, probably, a great albeit flawed game that is only going to get better with the upcoming patches.
But maybe I'm the weird one as I enjoyed the F out of Alpha Protocol and Fallout New Vegas (84% on MC? What a trash, right?).

Gamespot did exactly that. In fact they even used the same "critic" for this review since they knew how it would end.
PS: TLOU2 was absolute trash in terms of Story and pacing. I have never seen a game before that uses their main character for an 8 hour sidequests and presented it that it is part of the main story. Abby's whole section was to make sure you feel empathy for her by setting her up against people even more terrible than she was.

As for your statement. I do not even think it has any impact on your character. So I think you will have a great experince since you are not a person who gets easily offended by adds that treats Trans characters exactly the same as the other ones.
Damn, you're right. I'm going to tell my girlfriend that she should cancel her pre-order and stop being hyped about this game since it was made for men and she isn't.
Imagine crunching for years, all that sacrifice, to have your game given a 7 by a reviewer that didnt do sidemissions because she doesnt like cops or some nonsense like that
I am no fanboy, but I was hoping for a 90+MC score because of the devs. Those hardworking mfs deserve all the praise after all the sweat and tears across the years of development (and boycot)
What sad fucks are getting upset over a review of a game, which they haven't even played no less? Why has this game gathered some kind of cult before it's even out? Honestly baffling to me.

It's always like this. People pick and choose good or bad reviews to confirm their bias. At the end of the day, those cute Journalists at gamespot get paid and life is great. It'll be funny though I expect a lot of mixed reactions on Cyberpunk, more specifically people playing on base hardware which is probably where most of the copies sold are gonna come from.

If you count all the 36 review scores (opencritic) and calculate an avg. score, you get 82% not 91%. To get 91% you need an additional 320+ points, essentially 3x extra more reviews (100%).
Even ignoring the bad scores (6), will only improve the final score by 1%. Have to assume, that not every outlet (36 listed) count toward the final score.
Omg I read some comments and people don't get how the expectations vs reality work.
With expectations and hype that is touching moon right now I think 90% of people will be disappointed at the beginning.
I'll be honest I watched his video but after I watched Yongyeas and there seemed to be a difference with regard to how each perceived the updated review patch. Yong said it fixed a lot of bugs where as Layman said the opposite. But Yong I think did a new save which was the difference.
Indeed I don't have a beef with her taking issue with representation and her perception of (that's her perogative), but she didn't explore the crafting systems or get deep into the mechanics or anything...that's due diligence if you're a reviewer. Honestly, I think Gamespot probably really need to consider having someone do a second review post-release on that because it's an embarrassment. Should have had the guy who did the preview review the game honestly.

Yeah, but it's likely her beefs with representation, which are very flimsy if you dig into them, are likely connected to the fact that she's so poor at reviewing and understanding the systems that make up an RPG.
I see very little there to justify her having this position at Gamespot other than she ticks a few "representation" boxes herself - professional, competent game reviewer not being one of them.

Looks likes it is exactly what I was hoping for!
Pc steam version in 4k@60fps hdr10 dolby atmos dlss 2.0!
Putting aside all the 4th wave feminist, gender politics bollocks, surely that would be a good thing?
Far too many games are bland, boring, inoffensive and utterly forgettable because they try to appeal to everyone, thus catering to no one.
Men and women tend to have very different tastes. A game that caters to both equally would be lacking in many, many ways for both genders.
Knowing your audience and giving them what they want should be applauded in this day and age of banality and carefully walking on eggshells.
Besides which, it's not like there aren't plenty of women who like stereotypically masculine interests, that this also caters to.
My wife, being a tomboy that loves femme fatales, is far more interested in this than TLOU2, with it's melodrama, androgynous female characters and blatant tokenism.

There is also a lot of mixed reporting about this. Gamestar for example has explicitly stated that the bugs they encountered were mostly minor bugs (animation issues, floating items, AI buggy or the odd T-pose). No game breaking shit that stopped you from finishing a quest or anything. They had two reviewers with the same experience in that regard.
LegacyKilla said in his review that he had only one crash and only one quest that bugged for him which he couldn't finish. Besides that he also said the bugs/glitches were minor.
I wonder why there are so many differences here, or if some people are just exaggerating the minor bugs into something more while other reviewers downplay them.
I personally don't really care about that either way, all games come with bugs. Watch Dogs Legion made consoles overheat and shut down, AC Valhalla is bug ridden, Demon's Souls had game breaking bugs that let you finish the game in 20 minutes, Spider-Man with the rest mode and lamps... even TLOU2 had quite some game breaking bugs.
It becomes a concern when game breaking things aren't fixed quickly, but they usually are hence I can understand why reviewers are typically lenient when it comes to bugs.
When "suiting up" for a BD, especially with Judy, V will be given a headset that is meant to onset the instance. The headset fits over both eyes and features a rapid onslaught of white and red blinking LEDs, much like the actual device neurologists use in real life to trigger a seizure when they need to trigger one for diagnosis purposes. If not modeled off of the IRL design, it's a very spot-on coincidence, and because of that this is one aspect that I would personally advise you to avoid altogether. When you notice the headset come into play, look away completely or close your eyes. This is a pattern of lights designed to trigger an epileptic episode and it very much did that in my own personal playthrough.

It's very clear that some reviewers are turned off by the fact that this game has an 80s and 90s aesthetic and approach. So, none of this modern woke crap where the story has to stop every five minutes to show you how awesome and flawless women or minorities are, or how bad white men or masculinity is. No sugarcoating the world and how people treat each other, no political correctness, no bowing at the altar of feminism. You can just tell the Gamespot reviewer was totally turned off by the game not massaging her ego like the latest Ubisoft fantasy woke world or whatever.
We should absolutely be celebrating the fact that the game is turning these people off. It means it has a legitimate chance of being good.

I think the point here is that games are not made for a specific gender and not made to cater to both genders either, games are made for people who like the genre/combat/gameplay etc regardless of what gender they are. Their gender doesn't enter the equation when making the game, or shouldn't, at least.
The idea of making a game for guys or for girls doesn't even make sense anyway, because everyone has different tastes for games within a gender group, as you've demonstrated with the example of your wife.
German magazine GamersGlobal gives it a perfect 10. Summary: "Eines der besten der letzten zehn Jahre. Kaufen!" which translates to "One of the best games of the last ten years. Buy!"
In the comments a user asks if 10 isn't too high, to which the editor responds: if this game doesn't deserve a 10, no game does.
