D.OMG.A4 Trailer Up

Team Ninja RetroActive ? all i see is the old e3 trailer on there, unless you mean that new video...which is 14 minutes long

Err.. stunning? That trailer screamed Xbox to me. Other than the higher resolution, there is almost nothing that differentiates this from DOA3. So many effects just seemed so cheap, like derived from the 32 bit era. But I digress.

Digress means "to deviate from the subject at hand," where as what you were actually doing, was Trolling. Which mean, "being a cock."

Relax bro. Why so defensive? If you are impressed, power to you. I shouldn't be able to take away from your enjoyment. I find many games on the 360 to look stunning. This isn't one of them. I'm sorry this perturbs you.

The quality of the Gamespot trailers are a bit clearer. But this one shows a lot more gameplay. The fighting engine looks so much more improved. And juggling looks to be a much bigger part of the game than before :)

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Does a game have to be WTFshit or WTFOMG?? It looks great in certain areas, decent in others, and lacking in yet others. I'm sorry if that makes you feel insecure.

This is you in a PDZero thread. See a pattern?

It's a case of diminishing returns.

With this kind of artstyle...adding 10 times the polys and 10 times the texture resolution won't make much of a difference to some people.

I try not to spam, but these are the points I listed on my blog about what the trailer contains, so forgive the formality of the text:

As part of our week-long expose into the world of Team NINJA, 1UP is proud to present an an exclusive trailer of Dead or Alive 4 (click here to download!). In the words of Itagaki himself, this is a "hand-played realtime battle demo," showing the actual game in action, as played by two of his best designers. The purpose of this demo is to show the speedy new game system of DOA4, hence the lack of lifebars, and the usual HUD graphics. This is also the world-exclusive appearance of Kokoro in an actual battle situation. The movie focuses on her so viewers can appreciate her fighting style, and another world-exclusive debut in this video is the "Kyoto in Bloom" stage. Itagaki hand-selected these elements just for you as a 1UP exclusive. The file is 248 megs large, so you better have your broadband cranking, but trust us when we say it's worth the wait.

Wow...I can't wait! It's really amazing to think that just a few additions and some tweaking can totally blow the doors off of the old edition of a game...DOA4 looks fucking FUN as hell! The new vault/trip over background elements really add to the ferocity of the action...love those obviously shorter, and more deliberate counter windows now, too! The wall bounce and the new, more hyper-vicious looking ground game is fucking perfect for the new 'unleashed' form of the fighting...

*drool*

Too bad that the game doesn't seem to exploit more throw-away background effects...like individual apples from a busted-down fruit stand don't seem to get knocked about from the fighiting and shuffling going on. Still...I WANT.

There is a good chance I'm in love with Brad Wong. <3

Does anyone else have trouble playing back these HD videos? What are the recommended specs you need to play this stuff?

I've got a 2.66Ghz P4 and 512MB of RAM and I can't get the DOA4 videos to playback without stuttering and moving at 2 frames a second.

That was a fun slide show. With all the grunting and squeeking, I could have been hot lesbian porn for all I knew.

Note to self: get better computer. :(

Yup.

Try using a leaner, more efficient player, like BS Player (free), Media Player Classic (free), or VLC Player (free).

edit: VLC is worthless for these vids, though :lol It's more of a good compatibility player, though.

Actually WMP does a better job with WMV9-HD videos than Media Player Classic, at least for me.
Just finished watching the trailer. I love how the characters interact with each other and with the environments. Very very cool stuff.
BUT I *really* dislike how the characters seem to be added on top of the background. It's like the level itself has its own lighting, and the characters another one that does not fit perfectly. It's very noticeable in the gamespot videos with Lisa on the ring. There are some colored spots lighting the ground right UNDER the characters, and they are not affected at all. I know how the effect work, and I could understand why they could not use anything better on Xbox. But on 360? No way.

That's what I've been using to get the 5 frames per second and stuttering. On regular WMP10 I barely even get a slideshow. VLC doesn't work at all.

Looks awesome to me, the animations seem even better. its also seems that reversals look like that counter that specific move even better than in DoA3 or 2Ultimate.

looks puurdy too, not really pushing the system, but still looks amazing :P

That's exactly what I feel, too. It's just the gameplay that looks more interesting than the visuals...which is pretty nice, actually.

It looks really good, but is ANYONE actually in awe?

I'm not saying every launch game should make us go HOLY SHIT. But that's what I expect from TECMO, who fucking gave us some of the best art and graphics THROUGHOUT this entire current gen, from Dead or Alive to Ninja Gaiden to Rygar.

The settings look very nice. The clothing looks great (albeit maybe a bit too shiny). But the actual characters don't look much better. Considering when you play the game, you focus on the characters, that's what they should work on the most. As many people have said and demonstrated, just some nice shadowing (I forgot what it's called exactly, heh) would make them look a lot better.

And this gen to me, isn't as much about pushing the realism as far as I'm concerned, but instead, deatails. The tiny fucking details that I've never cared about before, I look to see not happen this gen. I still see too much stuff like the chicken sticking out of the girl and walking around when she's knocked on her back or hair/clothing flowing through the character's bodys. It's such a nitpick, but the more realistic games get, the more stuff like that sticks out to me. And I think we're at a point now, where, while obviously it can't be perfect, we can see less stuff like that. Especially in a fighting game. Hell, their "automatically get up, spin/fall backwards KO" animations are exactly the same from DOA2 and all the characters are the same. I want to see those little details change.

/nitpick
