D23 Expo Japan -- Kingdom Hearts Premium Theater

Sora is more likely a Darkness and the Goat Key isn't in chi yet.

The status quo has already changed since Xehanort
asserted Sora wasn't one of the seven lights
, since
Mickey/Riku/Ventus's armor were able to successfully rescue Sora from falling to darkness
.

Terra's end game might just be about him being saved from Xehanort's control, not really sure if he's gonna be "available" as one of the seven lights so soon that he'd be part of the final fight as a good guy (though he might help from within and fight Xehanort's control). If Terra is one, then Lea getting a keyblade has no relevancy. No, I think Terra's role is to be one of the baddies until the final confrontation and then he'll be saved in the end as they defeat Master Xehanort while maybe having some role in creating an opening in defeating one of the bad guys by fighting for control over himself with the Xehanort that took over his body.

I'd say the lights are most likely Sora, Riku, Kairi, Mickey, Ven, Aqua & Lea, though it is maybe possible some hijinks will go down with Sora and he becomes one of the baddies, in which case they'll need to figure out another light (which could be Terra but then MX would be down one of the 13 darknesses and that would need to be balanced out). The baddies are probably Master Xehanort, Young Xehanort, Terranort, Vanitas, Xemnas, Fake Ansem, Isa, Braig, a few other Org XIII members + maybe one or two surprises/new faces even (IIRC there's someone with MX's keyblade in Chi, maybe that's the first incarnation of Xehanort and will be part of the 13 darknesses)

Agree here. Terra won't be considered at all with the lights.

All my hype.

I will say that the Riku Kairi Mickey shot is somewhat...unimpressive? I dunno, it's not what I imagined with a PS4 KHIII (though technically I believe that shot if from 2.8 unless I'm forgetting a cutscene from DDD).

That shot is from the 3D secret ending, IIRC.

Yeah its from 2.8.

Also, those models are far above anything from the series previous, all the assets in the backround are just so smooth and more detailed compared to the blocky stuff from the PS2 engine era.

Regardless, i'm sure your concern is unwarranted, its a far away shot and a bad angle to boot.

It's from BBS0.2

The models are way better quality than anything on the 3DS lol.

Yeah its from 2.8.

Ah yeah I meant 2.8. I mean, idk, the shot of Aqua and the shots of Sora have been breathtakingly beautiful. I think this shot kinda brings it back to Earth for me that not every shot is going to be balls to the walm amazing. My hype levels for this game have just been off the charts and I can't think straight.

Since we got like 2 years before it comes out i hope the gfx can get close to Kh1/2 cgi level for the character models, the environments already looks amazing, especially the foliage. Character models definitely needed work though.

They already achieved the same basic structure of the CGI models as shown in the E3 trailer, but that's probably highest LOD and reserved for the real time cut-scenes. The gameplay models are probably going to be lower poly

For those who say nonsensically that KH2 somehow looks better, have a look at the E3 trailer again

The fact of the matter is people overestimated SE once again in that regard. But the actual outcome is far from a disaster and still looks amazing considering that as you state, we did skip a generation.

Oh, for sure. I think it looks beautiful!
Saying that, one interview did mention that the game loads a lot quicker, and the environments are much larger. Guessing model quality wasn't as much of a focus as streamlined game play.

The game is still in development and far away from release. DQXI will most likely release before KH3.

I personally feel the face is still a bit off, but the latest screenshot does look little better than E3. Hopefully it will be more polished until release.

This whole exchange is why KH3 is going to be the most incomprehensible bullshit story ever put to paper.

If you skip 7 games worth of story and still hope to understand it, that's mostly your own fault...

People debating the story are up to date with the games, so no shit it sounds insane to people from outside.

Pretty much apply to any game series with a continuous story (MGS, Yakuza, etc.).

I think this graphics discussion could be because we're so used to seeing the KH characters on hardware with PS2-esque power (GBA CoM and DS games excluded). So it feels odd to see them on hardware much stronger.

That's my random guess anyway.

Maybe it's just the lighting, but Sora's hair color in the new version looks a lot darker brown.

I don't understand how KH's story is convoluted to anyone

Like if you play the games and pay attention to the cutscenes you should understand it

it's not hard to follow

It's the lighting. It's much more flat and looks more like the PS2 look. Which I don't mind.

E3 2015 looked all sorts of weird with its lighting, especily with young Xehanort.

I will always mention the (now dead) KH communities I used to follow, where you had a bunch of 13 and 14 years old talking about the story with no problem whatsoever (kids who don't even have english as their first language btw).

KH's story is hard to follow because the games are all over the platforms, but it's pretty straight forward.

I think it has to do with people considering all the games that are not Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 to be spin-offs or not relevant to do story. So they skip those games and are utterly confused as a result.

The hd collections have fixed this problem. I bought both 1.5 and 2.5 and played them for the first time in order and had no problem understanding anything.

Yup. I'm mostly talking about the stigma associated with the series since before the collections.

Those certainly help a lot. Hopefully they do come over to PS4 at least.

I feel like any story would look convoluted if it has over 7 entries and you haven't played them all. As an outsider it will come off impossible to understand, but having played each one it hasn't been difficult to follow. The only thing convoluted are some of the game's titles. I pissed my friend off just by explaining why the new collection is called 2.8.

There are people who will also see the word "Japanese" attached to any game and immediately claim the story's nonsense and convoluted! Whether they've actually played the game or not is irrelevant.

Thinking about it, I don't even remember who said it would come out then. It kind of just got mentioned and then all the KH fan-site accounts repeated it. Oh no....

Yeah. I thought it said on the Famitsu link or something >.>

Oh well...

I'm still waking up at the same time to check.

Welp, lets wait until E3 2016 or the PSX this December for KH3 information then.

This is just stupid; they have a new trailer for their big game but only show it to select few in Japan? Oh well, I'm going to get KH3 anyway (and 2.8 HD) when I get my PS4 next year, so I can wait for more info.

Just want to see Pixar worlds (Toy Story, Inside Out and/or Monsters Inc.), Star Wars (Original Trilogy) and some surprises (Emperors New Grove, Treasure Planet, Atlantis The Lost Empire, Robin Hood, Jungle Book, ect) to appear in the game.

There are no new worlds in the trailer though. It's just an extended E3 trailer basically.

And they'll release, they just don't know when lol.
