D23 Expo Japan -- Kingdom Hearts Premium Theater

There are no new worlds in the trailer though. It's just an extended E3 trailer basically.

And they'll release, they just don't know when lol.

Then its hard to care for the trailer then; thanks for the heads up :D!

Would like to see more of the Mount Olympus and Tangled Worlds but I can wait if I have too :).

I just don't understand why we were told to look forward to d23.

My guess
1- They want to keep interest in the game going
2- They gotta do that D23 event every year
3- The money from entrants of this event goes towards development :V

This whole exchange is why KH3 is going to be the most incomprehensible bullshit story ever put to paper.
What's so incomprehensible? The final confrontation will supposedly be between 7 heroes of light and 13 evil dudes of darkness. The "Goat Key" is just the Keyblade used by the ultimate villain.

OMG SO COMPLEX MAH HEAD EXPLODES.

I just don't understand why we were told to look forward to d23.
It was just said to be an event where new KHIII footage would be shown and KHIII + some other KH related stuff would be talked about. They never really claimed this would be some be all end all event where all would be revealed.

I just don't understand why we were told to look forward to d23.

The attendees of D23 got a bunch of stuff though.

They saw both trailers, plus extra videos and footage of KH3/2.8 that we won't be getting, and there was also live music playing.

I guess they only meant to hype people who were actually going to the event, and not us lol.

I'm 100% sure that trailer will be released at Playstation Experience at the latest. It could release any time until then or just be saved for that event. This is just a whirlwind of emotions. I can't.

Don't know why everyone's freaking out by saying the trailer is next month or whatever because it might not be up tonight. D23 ends on Sunday so they still have time.

But still, you're all saying the new trailer doesn't really have new info or anything? Does it have anything exciting?

  • Adds more to the Eraqus-Xehanort conversation nothing major.
  • The new attraction flow we have a screenshot of
  • More footage of Tangled and Hercules Worlds
  • A new nobody that shares a theme with Marluxia
  • A touching scene with a bunch of the main characters who reside in Sora's heart

Basically it's gonna be a much better version of the E3 trailer that was already damn good.

Most of you just read the synopsis on the Internet though

Maybe I'm lucky, but I had no issue having access to a DS and PSP to play the other "side games" in the series. Now it's not even a problem with 1.5 and 2.5 having everything and 2.8 coming out next year.

Never had to read through anything after playing the game. If you have trouble understanding it after playing it then you may not have been paying attention to begin with.

Okay. I'm still excited.
I've never wanted a game as bad as I want KH3. I was 12 or 13 the last time I was this excited (for KH2). It's just weird for me, because I'm not usually "hyped" for things. It's like every time new KH info is coming out, I keep checking and checking. Just give me the trailer so I can be happy and go back to normal life, dammit. Heh

"you" as in "me"?

I played them all sir (3D is the only one missing, and I'll play that one on 2.8). Ask me anything up to BBS and I'll answer.

I had to read nothing whatsoever. At best I learn a few new things on some details of the story, but anything else I learned because the game heavy hands it's story quite a bit.

I wonder how little attention you have to be paying at the game that you have to read up online despite playing them. Not only do they have a very simplistic vocabulary (it's a game for kids after all), but they never require you to do anything but play the games.

Same, although I didn't own a psp until I got the BBS special edition one.

Is it wrong to say that 358/2 Days is better as a manga or collection of cutscenes than as a DS game?

I can agree with that. Having played through the original I preferred the Movie version as the missions in the original got a little tedious for me. The only thing that sucks about the movie version is the lack of fight scenes.

Days' gameplay should be nothing but the last boss fight (and the multiplayer) =X

Even ReCoded played better (granted, that one was at least made with a DS in mind, and not trying to recreate PS2 gameplay on a DS).

"Let's go investigate the new location, Roxas! Just walk around and look at random stuff, please. "
I honestly gave up on the game once 1.5 was announced. I really didn't think it was fun.

The mission design in Days was ass, as was the overly long tutorial-like segment that took, like, the first 100+ days. The combat was still ok fun and I liked the increased focus on platforming/exploration in comparison to KHII. IIRC (haven't played Days in a while), there were quite a lot of levels with places you could only access with good enough ability decks.

I think its that the lighting on Sora/D/G isnt flat enough. The current shading makes sense for the tangled world, but doesnt make sense for Yensid's tower or Hercules world. Doesnt really make sense for the series in general considering all of the worlds outside of the live action ones would have flat shading.

Cool. Don't play it and I won't hear you cry about it. Win win.

Skipping a large chunk of a story and expecting to understand what's going on has always been the smartest move~

...and other posts saying the same thing.

What makes you think I skipped games in the series? I have literally never heard of a Goat Key but lo and behold, somehow that's canon.

Now I'm googling it. http://www.khwiki.com/Young_Xehanort's_Keyblade

Yeah if this is somehow relevant to the overarching plot, I dunno what to tell you.

I excused the "CHI" blade only because it was so bad it was good, but goats?!

The story is thus - If you steal someone's heart they're heartless, but sometimes with the power of love, you can bring them back, but maybe only if they suicide, but watch out for their Nobody, unless you put them to sleep, then you have to watch out for Dream Eaters, which you might confuse with the Unversed...

Then there's Organization XIII, which is but isn't the thirteen Darknesses, and actually there's a fourteenth one, but you need seven Lights, which are also princesses, and there's this guy named DiZ, which did you think that was a name? Because it actually means Darkness in Zero because why not. Anyway he's the real Ansem, the Ansem you fought before was Xehanort's heartless, not to be confused with Xemnas, Xehanort's Nobody.

YES THIS IS ALL VERY STRAIGHTFORWARD. I'VE GOT IT MEMORIZED.

Basically there's like 3-4 versions of every character, 3-4 different factions of enemies that have to do with ephemeral concepts of darkness and light and love and dreams and hope and hearts and emptiness, but rarely ever at the same time.

Can anyone explain what happens when you 'obtain' Kingdom Hearts? That's what the chi-blade is for, right? What happens? Has it happened before?

It's also wrong in lots of places. Heartless have hearts, OrgXIII isn't the darknesses, the Princesses are lights, but they aren't the Lights. And I don't know what you're on about with Nobody's and Dream Eaters.

And at this point I shouldn't be surprised but look at the Goat on the hilt of this keyblade.

It certainly *seems* like you've skipped some games.

What in the actual fuck are you talking about? I mean really now.

Goat Key is Master Xehanort's keyblade. It doesn't have a name aside from that. It's got a goat on it so people call it goat key. It's the most ancient keyblade. It is goat themed because it's one of the faction leader Keyblades from KHX, they all have animal logos IIRC

As for the rest of your post it honestly sounds like you did skip some titles because I don't even understand what you're talking about it some of this.

Can we talk about how beautiful the sky at Yen Sid's tower looks in the new screenshot though?

The stars looked so nice from what I was able to see from that screenshot. <3

Never seen that key before in my life. The only KH I haven't played are the mobile phone versions and haven't finished the 3DS version. the story is still nigh incomprehensible. I agree with Arkeband. Its by no means easy to follow.

Don't know how you missed it since it's Xehanort's Keyblade which he's used in all of Birth By Sleep and in his return in Dream Drop Distance.

The mobile games are actually more important than the main games...... not even joking. Just get KH 1.5 and 2.5.

That seemingly asinine document actually somewhat helped.

It also proves how convoluted the story is. Literally hearts inside of hearts.

And yes I've played every game, it's just that I've played them over the course of thirteen (!!!) years across like six systems.

Also KHX is a Japan-only browser/iOS game, so I can't reasonably be expected to already know the weapons the "faction leaders" in that apparently use.

I've been posting story updates in the community thread since it launched. I've also played the games as they came out. If you care to look, the information is there and easily accessible.

I'm pretty much just missing BBS and 3D before catching up. And the only reason I'm not playing BBS right now is because the school semester started up again and it's taking up too much of my time to be able to sit down and focus on the game. But I played every game from KH 1 to KH 2 on the HD Remixes. (I even bought 358/2 Days, played it and then watched the cutscenes)

I want to make sure I'm totally prepped for this when it comes out! I loved the games growing up, but played some of them out of order or without remembering too much details, this has helped a lot and it's seriously been tons of fun.
