DAEMON X MACHINA (Basically Nintendo's ANTHEM)

Finished the first two missions. It needs a little polishing, but I'm absolutely loving the aesthetic and customisation. Gameplay is solid. Exactly the shot in the arm Switch needs.

Daemon x Machina, Fire Emblem and Astral Chain are going to make it a summer to remember.

Played the demo... I think it's nothing special. Demo lacks polishing as well. But I am gonna buy it nonetheless. Because I want to play and buy good Gundam games but can't read Japanese. So I will give this a shot

Completed the demo and I left feeling overall positive about it. The gameplay and visuals were very good. It had this cool, frenetic vibe to it, with a memorable aesthetic that really stood out. The world building looks dope. The boss fight was epic, and I hope it features a lot of those in the final game. Fighting without your mech was also quite fun, and I hope you can exit your vehicle at any given time. Now I did it just because I got gunned down. Bonus points for customization of your character too, I hope they increase the options in the final build.

On the downside, the HUD was too cluttered. Although it gave a feeling of really being inside your mech, it was a lot of numbers and information all over the place. This game also seems to feature some very complicated gameplay mechanics, with very little to no explanations. It could be a subject to change, and I´m all for non handhelding, but it was a little bit scary with all the menus and different numbers popping up all over the place. The music was sort of hit and miss. I´m not too fond of metal-inspired OSTs, but granted, it fit well within the universe and it got the action pumping. Mixed feelings there.

The voice acting was not good as well as the interactions with the other party members. I just skipped that shit as I found it to be uninteresting banter. The framerate was a bit rough at times but overall I thought it ran pretty solid, so my guess is that this will be very well optimized when it releases.

I´m not to sold on mech-games but Daemon X Machina manages to hit the right buttons. I hope that the missions and combat wiil become more varied, otherwise it seems as this can get a bit repetitive.

I played handheld only. Overall, I enjoyed the demo and I´m looking forward to the final product, although my expectations have become a little more grounded now. Which I honestly see as a good thing. All in all, Daemon X Machina looks to be a very solid addition to an already fantastic library of games.

The performance of the game is brutal. The fps drops are abysmal, hope it gets fixed for the release.

I'll be very happy if this game sits next to Sin and Punishment, Custom Robo, Fatal Frame, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Zangeki no Reginleiv, Endless Ocean, The Wonderful 101, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Tokyo Mirage Sessions etc

You can fully customize the HUD and it's positioning on the screen in options, and remap all buttons to your liking too.

Finished the demo. Played a bit in handheld mode and a bit in docked.

I am pretty keen on the game.
First impressions felt like HD Rumble wasn't working too much so the weapons and everything felt kind of weightless.
I didn't notice any performance issues.
The customization options are pretty good.

The world building seems decent and the story could be interesting. Looks like an interesting cast of characters too (with obligatory annoying characters).

The artstyle seems pretty great to me. A lot of stuff these days is coming out as very generic so it's good to see something a bit more bold and creative.

I think the soundtrack could be great but the mixing felt pretty poor. Like neither the music nor the effects are really getting a chance to shine and it all becomes a bit of a mess.

In terms of gameplay the game is pretty raw. It really really feels like a kind of tech demo or something (which I guess it kind of is) so I hope the final game is a lot tighter and a few of the issues are fixed.

I found the final boss to be mildly infuriating.
I had issues reviving team mates even though I was targeting them and was close.
Sometimes I got the "A to Reboot", sometimes not.
Same with the section after you shoot the huge gun off the boss.
The interaction between the "out of bounds" and the big shield dome the boss used was annoying as fuck. So I'd get hit by the shield and smashed out of bounds but then the game takes over control and pushes you back in which causes you to take more damage. Would have been better to have a strict boundary on where the boss can be and then a gap before the player boundary so you can't be trapped in stupid ways.

Overall, it's a decent looking game that is fun to play. It's never going to be a 90+ on Metacritic or a contender for Game of the Year but it's a perfectly decent first impression here from the demo.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
...it's nothing like Anthem (thankfully), that's just crazy superficial reaching, why not compare it to Armored Core so people actually understand what it roughly is.

So it wasn't just my imagination. It really does drop to the mid 20 FPS and sometimes even lower.
If they get this to run close to consistent 30fps by release it will definitely be a fun game, but if it doesn't I'm staying the hell away

Well just like Octopath developers are looking for the feed back from gamers and I'm pretty sure they aware of the FPS issues.

One has to also consider how old this build is. The version in this demo was 0.1 so this could as well be the sa build as the E3 demo last year.

Looks like wii game(low level of details like trees and stuff) with horrible performance. Just shows how damn weak system switch is and how it compromises gameplay or having modern graphics.

Maybe they get it to run more stable, maybe not.

I'm bit sad how switch low performance already compromises so many ideas and games when devs have to fight against making games barely to run with least acceptable details

The demo or "prototype missions" as they call it, is pretty good. I can see fans of armoured core maybe even zone of the enders fans enjoying it.

It certainly has my attention, I just don't think I'll be buying it at launch if its £50.

If FPS dips are the biggest issue then I’ll be very happy with this

Fair, but they have got to work on that framerate. I would not consider dips below 20fps acceptable for a fast action game. The Switch is capable of better.

Just shows how damn weak system switch is

Switch games that run at 60fps: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IZYrdXLhf9rY4ZtmdBXnImKGJbrQzqDAzOi-haQpPSU/edit?usp=sharing

(I think the resolutions listed must be the lowest which the game can reach.)

Overall, I say that the demo was pretty good, although it clearly lacked polishing to me ( I’m pretty sure this must be an early build ). For some reason however, I felt that the game ran more smoother the second time I played the game, while during the first time I could have sweared seeing frame-rate drops appear more often.

Anyway, the gameplay looks deep enough, the story has potential ( I like the characters so far ), and controlling the mecha just feels like being Gurren Lagann. But my biggest issue so far is that sometimes there’s so much stuff going on you don’t seem to have a clueless fuck about what is going, it’s really not clear where you have to go sometimes or where the IA enemies are.

The minimap is too small and doesn’t give much detail on what is going on. Also the part where you are out of your mecha clearly needs reworking, trying to aim and shoot is such a pain and the walk and jump cycles of the character we play is are pretty ridiculous.

I’m still looking forward to the game, but I’ll perhaps have to wait for reviews to roll in. I do hope that the global feedback will help them polish the game furthermore to make it more playable.

I have hope though, I have hope this could turn out to be a great game. The good ideas are here, it’s just the execution that matters, really.

I’m starting to get hyped for this. I’m still progressing through Astral Chain but this seems like a great value and I love the look of the game.

I wouldn't call something somebody''s Anthem until they send it out to die after a troubled development history. Anthem will go down as an example of horrible project management, not arcade-style mechsuit combat.

Motion aiming helps this game a ton. Turn it on in options in the demo. It's set to zero normally, so you need it up to 6-7.

At least there was some useful feedback from players to devs at one point before the release. We are very far from an Anthem situation.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Thread was created 8 months ago before anyone realized that Anthem would be garbo

Played the new demo for 10 mins.
The frame rate seems much more consistent, last time I felt it slowed down a little too much.
