Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
Shit just disappears everytime I download a .wmv. Sometimes it'll crash and tell me it's doing so. Most times, the app just vanishes off the screen.

Where can I download older versions? I didn't see them on their site.

Good sh!t... Which do you recommend?

You saved me from punching a whole in this laptop LCD.

I don't see why everyone goes for Firefox over Opera. Firefox just feels like a tabbed IE with better security (not a bad thing, mind you).
Opera is truely a powerful browser, I love it.

Even in my discontent... Firefox > Opera

Works now btw. I went w/ an August build. Downloads fine now. Strange how no one else has mentioned this issue.

Firefox doesn't need to be hacked to be ad free.

Firefox has been fucking up for me as well.

If I try and open a zip file with it, it stops at 99%. firefox freezes, and has to be restarted.

I would.

I've having too many problems with 1.0

The PR release worked better for me, so you may also want to try that.

I have issues with downloading files...it freezes any time such a file decides to download. It's frustrating.

Clean out your cache, clean your actual download folder (move or delete items), and clean the download list.

It is a dir listing problem.

Opera has ads, Firefox has extensions. No need for further explanation.

I also am feeling kind of screwed on the 1.0 upgrade, though. BugMeNot and TabBrowser extensions are out-of-commision, and I hate that I have to hit Ctrl-F to search text.

You can also start a seach by hitting the '/' key.

Are Tab browser extensions not included as standard now? I'm not sure, I only installed it on my work machine and had a quick look round but I thought I saw a button somewhere...

There is an included Single Window mode...From the release notes:

The Help documentation refers to "Single Window Mode" options regarding "Force links opened in new windows to open in [New Tab, Same Tab]." This function was disabled at the last minute due to problems we were experiencing with it, so ignore this section of Help. To re-enable the Single Window Mode options (at your own risk - there may be crashes), use the Configuration Console (accessed by entering "about:config" in the Location bar and pressing Enter) to set browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs to true.

I've been using it for a while now, and I haven't had a problem.

Also, keep in mind that Firefox disables extentions when it does an upgrade. If the update server was being swamped when you updated, it might not have caught the updated versions of your extentions. So, you should try to update them using the update button in the extention manager or by getting the most recent version of your extentions.

Can you change it back in about:config like the last update? Removing the ability to change the "find as you type" search in the options from links only to all text was pretty stupid IMO, I love having search set to all text instead of just links by default.

I'm holding off on 1.0 for a bit longer, PR is fine and tuned right for me and I want to give the extensions some time to sort themselves out. Although my wife said all her extensions worked in 1.0, she just had to reinstall them. I prefer to wait though.

There is an update for Tabbrower Extensions. Run the update from within Firefox.

Edit: There is a Bugmenot update too. It was not working earlier, I checked for updates on all the extentions, and it worked again.

the only thing that sucks for me is I usually use a plug in for Active X, then restrict the hell out of it so that it can ONLY handle embedded WMP files (I use MLB TV, which screws up without it).. and now the plug in doesnt work, which is strange because it worked in the Preview Release for 1.0.

Do you know the name of it? I had that before, I got rid of it when the damn ActiveX error popups kept poping up on every page.

I dont know the name of it, but you can find it here. Active X crap ..

as you can see, nothing works beyond 1.0 PR, and even that was an ass backwards hack of a netscape file. Those errors you were getting are the result of it not being compatible with the browser.

Interesting issues popping up, I think the only real major problem I had were incompatible extensions and slow updates for them (Download Manager Tweak where are you...?), but other than that 1.0 has been smooth sailing for me and I'm loving it quite a bit. I've officially made the switch from Gecko to Firefox.

Firefox has indeed extensions but most of them are innovations stolen by Opera (mouse gestures for starters, Add bookark here, backing up the sites you were browsing before a possible crach etc etc.). In Opera you can configure almost anything like where the tabs might be, where the progress bar can be displayed (I put it inside the address bar so when a page load the address bar which is not useful that time dissappears and the progress bar appears). Also Opera is a lot lighter than firefox and more versatile. But when it comes to incompatibilities unfortunatelly Opera is the king. Gmail doesn't work, flash animations in sites have serious displaying problems, many times browser crashes with badly written sites (problems with Javascript). I prefer Opera but when I see an incompatible site I open firefox.

How do I get that Find within page feature back on the top right? It's become a habit, and I hate hitting Ctrl F.

You don't need to hit CTRL+F, you just hit / and type your search term.

IIRC, this was borrowed from vi as it's very efficient.

FF 1.0 has been better than PR & RC2 for me.. all my needed extensions work properly (after updates).

Important ones for me:
DownloadWith (automatic downloads actually works with all filetypes now. With RC2, some would still default to the download manager)
Tabbrowser Preferences
Adblock
Image Zoom :0

If you're having problems with FF, you should probably try a clean install.

Uninstall FF, delete the directory in Program Files, and then copy your profile (in Documents and Settings) elsewhere, then delete the profile from its original location.

Then reinstall, test it out, and move desired elements from your old profile to the new one.

Hmm, I've done a clean install.. but I can't seem to get Real media streaming with the real alternative plugin v.1.39 (it says on their site that it should work).. I've searched and searched and still come up with nothing. Whenever I try to play an embedded real media file, it give me the green puzzle peice (plugin is not installed). :X
