Dan Aykroyd Confirms Bill Murray Won't Do GHOSTBUSTERS 3

The videogame made me believe this could be done right. Someone should play through it for Murray and remind him that with a full production team a movie could be infinitely better. This makes me sad....

I'm not too surprised. The last time he did an interview on Howard Stern, he was asked about this project because Stern is friendly with Reitman. Bill had the funniest way of avoiding the question. He was saying something like, "Yeah the script is over there. It's just over there on my table or something."

You could tell the whole time he had no interest in the project. He talked about how he hated G2, and how the studio wants to create a new franchise all the time so they can get younger actors in and start it up again for a reboot.

I wouldn't mind this if he did more movies like Lost in Translation but instead he does Zombieland cameo.

It just seems like he's being a dick about it. I love Murray but he has that reputation anyway.

You don't watch Wes Anderson films?

He's been in nearly all of his films.

For those who want a GB3, do you truly trust that modern Hollywood can get anywhere near replicating the charm, comedy, and horror of the first two movies? That it won't become a CG fest with nothing but shallow call backs to the original two movies being the only thing propping it up? I seriously don't.
Agreed. And you can only imagine the hip, cool new cast.

Movies today definitely lack charm, I was telling my brother that there will never be another movie like the Goonies, even if they tried it would be terrible.

I would have liked to see a Ghostbusters 3 in the early 1990's it's just too late for it now, but who am I kidding if they got Murray to be in it I'd be there day 1.

Go watch Attack the Block.

His Zombieland cameo was awesome (as was the movie as a whole). Not sure why people want a new Ghostbusters anyway. GB2 wasn't very good and that was over 20 years ago.

Ghostbusters was great and the theme song was done by the incomparable Ray Parker Jr. Ghostbusters II was a mistake and the theme was done by Bobby Fucking Brown.

Bill is right on this and the rest of the world needs to get right with him.

Looking at Dan Akroyd's IMDB, yeah the dude needs this movie lol. He wrote and starred in Ghostbusters 2 and Blues Brothers 2000, both really terrible. Bill Murray is wise to stay away.

Like I've said in every other GB3 thread, this movie is never going to happen. There should just be an official "GB3 is Never Going to Happen" thread that gets bumped every six months when there is further proof that the movie isn't being made. It would be hilarious to look back on decades of Akroyd trying to get this doomed project made.

Eh, it sounded to me like Murray phoned it in for the video game. I played it a long time ago, but his voice acting seemed like he was actively disinterested in the project.

People accusing the studios of wanting to cash-in.. Were you guys even around when the first movie came out? The market was FLOODED with toys, games, videogames, cartoons, lunchboxces, etc; it was one of the most popular franchise with kids back then; I had tons of toys of them myself..

It wouldnt be a new thing.

That doesn't mean the script couldn't be done right. The game made me believe someone out there still gets what made Ghostbusters funny.

And screw the GBII hate. "Two in the box. Ready to go. We be fast, AND THEY BE SLOW!"

The movie should be about getting Bill Murray to do a movie, yet also be A Christmas Carol parody, as ghosts start appearing before Murray showing a world without good movies like the Ghostbusters movies. You could have a joke in a vision about Dan Aykroyd actually being skinny from not working- shit like that.
