How do you guys deal with this? I know there are remedies out there on the net but I'm looking for recommendations for stuff that actually works. Thanks for the help

What kind of shampoo are you using? Head and Shoulders was actually making my dandruff worse and the problem has drastically improved since I stopped using it. I have sensitive skin though.

Get a new hair style where your hair isn't constantly in your face/forehead. I used to shower regularly and still get dandruff, but ever since i've styled by hair back (i.e. DiCaprio style), haven't seen a speck of white.

I had dandruff that was absolutely horrible. Tried everything. Then tried Selsun Blue.

Dandruff COMPLETELY gone in 2-3 weeks tops.

Head & Shoulders. If that doesn't work, upgrade to Head & Shoulders in the blue bottle. If that doesn't work I have no idea.

I use Selsun but I have a BIG problem where Dandruff will come back if I don't shower every 2-3 days and even then sometimes it just comes back.

I have already gone through Head & Shoulders.

No idea what is wrong with my head. It sucks.

Also, don't use so much shampoo. It dries out your scalp. And be sure to put in some conditioner after to put some fat back in there.

quit using shampoo at all. Use it MAYBE twice a month. Just rinse your hair with really hot water, as hot as you can stand and rub your scalp with your finger during. We weren't meant to use shampoo. Some people's bodies react terribly to it.

Fuck heald and shoulders. made my dad bald (supposedly haha).
Dead Sea Spa Magik Mineral Shampoo works good for me:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000KU934E/
but then again everybodys body is different. Takes a few diff tries to see what works for you. My skin is really sensitive so I prefer more organic/natural remedies.

If you decide to try dandruff shampoo, buy two with different active ingredients and switch 'em up every once in awhile. Most, if not all dandruff shampoos lose effectiveness over time if you use them regularly, without interruption.

What about psoriasis-gaf?

Nah, its mostly fine. Head shoulders seems to work like others have said but I mostly need to use it everyday.

Here's what I used to do: Nizoral once every 3 days, and Johnson's Baby Shampoo the rest of the time.

H&S can be murder on a scalp so I'd avoid that formula.

One thing you have to remember dealing with dandruff, is your surroundings too.

SPECIFICALLY where you sleep, towels, hair brushes and the couch.

It's not just about using this magical remedy to get rid of dandruff. Wash your sheets/ pillow covers and towel thoroughly. If you use a comb / brush for your hair, after every use wash it with hot water and a little bit of cleaner. Have to be clean.

I had dandruff years back. Tried every remedy, but once I started really cleaning my surroundings it was gone forever. Just wiping your pillow cover with a swipe of the hand is pointless.

Just personal experiences.

p.s I use Head & Shoulders.

Head & Shoulders. Works for me.

Over in 1.

man i have two prescription hair shampoos because of dermatitis, which makes me have very dry scalp with stuff that resembles dandruff, but isn't.

Me too. Seborrheic Dermatitis, so annoying because its not really dandruff, so regular shampoos don't always work. But Nizoral 2% clears it up and I only have to use it a few days every few months and plain shampoo inbetween. I found that a really good conditioner helps immensely to keep the scalp hydrated.

Anyone have dandruff on their eyebrows? Mine are really hairy, but I am having a problem lately with dandruff on them. Is it safe to use stuff like Head and Shoulders on my eyebrows; or is there something specific I should do for them?

Moisturise your face every day and it'll go away.

I use Head and Shoulders and only wash out my hair like every other day or so. It's been working out pretty good for me for a while.

Nizoral works pretty good for me. I've never found anything that gets rid of it totally.

It seems like a shampoo will work with me for a little while and then my super dandruff adapts to it and it stops working.

and washing my hair a lot just makes my scalp dry out more and makes the problem worse plus my hair gets all poofy after I wash it so I don't like to do it all that often.

I got prescribed something for this and it worked beautifully. I'll find out what it's called.

I just started using this. The regular H&S would not do anything for me because I would still have flakes. I have zero anything with this. I am practically a new man!

I have terrible dandruff and dry skin in general. Head shoulders doesn't work for me since my dandruff is oily.

I use this: http://www.escentual.com/ducray/ducray003/

They say to use for 6 weeks but I use it indefinitely otherwise it comes back. Usually use more than twice a week too. I tried to do the 1 month without washing my hair with shampoo and that was a complete disaster. My scalp was itching like crazy and I had bunch of dandruff.

I have itchy scalp, which make dandruff. Not big flaky type, but small white powdery type.

I used to use head and shoulders for every day use. It worked for years, w/o any issues. But for some strange reason, my scalp decided to reject H&S entirely - that it started to show allergic reaction to whatever ingredient it had.

So I moved onto some herbal, non-dandruff organic stuff - and it didn't work either. Actually it became worse after a while..

Then I went to Selsun blue. When I was young, I used to use the yellow rubber smelly type of Selsun once in a while to treat my itchy scalp. Now I'm on Selsun blue. It gets job done, when H&S failed.

I endorse this post. I always had dandruff in the winter even while using Head and Shoulders, but using Selson Blue has gotten rid of it completely.

Does it "cure" it though, or do you have to constantly use the stuff. It's terribly expensive here.

No one here has tried apple cider vinegar? It worked for me, unfortunate that it smells terrible in the shower (though not as bad the smell of selsun blue that lingers in your hair even after you leave the house)

I used to have terrible dandruff and the only thing that worked was Head & Shoulders in the blue bottle.

Then I stopped using shampoo. My dandruff got worse at first but after 2-3 weeks it got better a bit at a time. About 6 weeks after I started, my dandruff went away and hasn't come back since.

And before people say something, yes I still shower and such. I just don't use shampoo or conditioner. I just scrub my hair very well while holding my head under super hot water in the shower.

You should try mixing a little baking soda with water to clean your scalp every so often if you're going shampooless, though I use apple cider vinegar diluted with water afterwards on my hair.

Yeah that's probably a good idea. I'll give it a shot. How often is good? Like once a week or every other week?
