PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS oh god i am drowning in them
Dark Shadows Wiki

Does anyone know of this show? I watched every episode via SciFi Channel when they used to run it years back. Now I'm slowly collecting the DVD sets and watching them again.
Basically, it started out as any other soap opera and had a bit of a gothic twist. New tutor, Victoria Winters, arrives to the Collins family's home to tutor the young child David. Shit goes on. Eventually they brought in a ghost and that got people talking. A phoenix event occurred and then eventually they brought on a vampire, and it was all the way horror.
Sure, watching it now it's kind, well really campy but it's still good fun.
Sucks that the DVD releases start around when Barnabas was introduced. But there's still a hell of a lot of episodes (1225!!!!) to enjoy.
So c'mon, I can't be the only one on GAF who enjoys this classic.

i used to love it when i was little (early 80s) seeing it again on sci fi, its just seems really cheesy :\

I remember my favorite when I was little was quintin.

Sure it's cheesy, but that's half the fun.
And Quentin roxxx. I'm trying to remember, but I think it was him who threw someone onto a suit of knight armor one episode and the assbag he threw got impaled total. Was awesome. Plus the sweet werewolf transformation scenes!

Watching it on the SciFi channel is cool, but how anyone could invest in the DVDs is really beyond me. A character hears something on the other side of a door and it takes like 10 episodes for them to open the door.....paying for a drawn-out soap-opera narrative is a little crazy. Maybe a good Netflix candidate.

I liked most of the weird plotlines involving the children and the ghosts they encounter. I don't remember much of anything that involved Barnabas.

SciFi airs Passions now, which is very fun but kind of a crappy replacement since 80% of it is normal soap-opera trash and only 20% is occult.

I used to be addicted to Passions, but I can't remember anything about it. I just remember some girl ina coma with a closet that was a gateway to hell. And the house burned down and they rebuilt an exact copy of it or something.

Jeez, this couldn't have been more than like 7-8 years ago. What has drinking done to my memory?

Well like, Dark Shadows was something my family did. And I really enjoyed it, and I'd hope DVDs are still usable in 20 or so years when I have kids the appropriate age to watch it with.
That and I just have a spot in my heart for the show. Gotta catch 'em all!
