You're not, I'm in the same boat. But upgrading did make a difference? For sure?

Oh yeah the upgrading increases damage for sure, I just cant tell which staff/chime to upgrade! I'm basing my choices mostly on attack power of the different elements, since I like miracles I usually go for ones with high lightning. That's why I went with the Archdrake chime with emit force and lightning spears equipped. The hexes like Dark orb so far only work with staffs...and the sunlight does appear to kick but so far, but I have not found the chime that Sullichin recommended yet.

The idol's chime only has D scaling in lightning, I think it's best for hexes. What you're using now is probably better for the lightning spears.

I remember how pissed off my friend was when he tried to fight ceaseless dischrage in DS1 and trying to beat him with the glitch. Found out the hard way that From patched it lol

Wonder what boss fight they will patch in this one

You can still make Ceaseless fall to his death, that's not a glitch. It's just hard to trigger sometimes.

What glitch? You can still OHKO Ceaseless, and that's without glitching.

Would there be any reason to do a jack-of-all trades build for DS2? Maybe an awesome weapon that requires several high stats?

There's a new category of magic that requires both INT and FAITH. There's some weapons that require both INT and FAITH in addition to STR/DEX. Not sure if any of it is particularly potent or if it's even a viable path, but there's gear and spells there.

whoa really? Tark is awesome and
you can summon and learn a gesture from him.
He has some really interesting lore.

he looked so dangerous, so I shot him with arrows.

but I brought back his ghost and talk to him.
were are cool. ^^

visited the giant dragon.
gave me an item.

btw.: what normal shield has the highest stability when maxed out?

So I am at the gates of Drangleic Castle. I've heard there is a game breaking glitch there and I'm kind of paranoid getting it. Is there a bulletproof way of getting around it?

What's the best low STR/DEX weapon a sorcerer can invest it? Making a new character and planning to go glass cannon INT/HEX. At least for starting anyway, I can use a soul vessel later to take back to min STR/DEX once spells are better.

Anything scale off INT early on?

If you die during the golem's door opening animation you won't be able to activate it again. Solution: don't die.

Using the fire longsword for the whole game so far, which you find in
forest of the giants
. Had to invest a few points, but not many. There doesn't seem to be many low stat requirement weapons.

Crystal ring shield was op, iron flesh even more.
And so were elemental weapons.

Few souls less, that was all.

Yeah I remember that the lightning weapons were op, and that the shield was the way to cheese though bosses, just didn't really use them. Iron Flesh I only remember being used to cheese the kings boss fight though. Was still able to level fine, get a ton of humanity, and get platinum without it feeling like a grind though.

Blue Sentinels is incredibly fun in NG+. So many sinners to invade, you can constantly be pvping. The ring doesn't work because no one wears the Way of the Blue one, but there are two other things to do in the covenant so whatever.

Are blue cracked orbs easier to come across in NG+?

Must not be all the time. I died out front of the castle door from the primal knights and then when I got back to it the door was open. Didn't even know I opened it since after killing some of the little guys I turned my back to it and was trying to fight the big guys.

Don't think I used any of those, went with a good ol' BK Greataxe through most of it. Heck, using Flash Sweat in Iron Keep was the first pyromancer I've ever used in a Souls game. Who knows, maybe I'll try a miracle or sorcery soon too! (but let's not get crazy)

You can buy them infinitely from the covenant guy.

Does anyone know if you are able to go to the pursuer bonfire from the crag side in Lost Bastille? I keep getting summoned, and I think they are camping around the pursuer side bonfire but I can't figure out how to get back over that rubble. :/

Edit: Nvm, I had never seen that ladder that goes to the floor above where Lucatiel is. That's where they were. :)

I don't get why the bellbro covenant works the way it does. I'm trying to get to get to lv2 and having to wait in an area where you get invaded by your own bros is just stupid.

at least I can test my build in pvp and reck some shite, hurrah for affinity>soul greatsword.

I said screw it and checked the guide....looks like there is a
dedicated
chime for
hexes
only
, but not available til later. It has a ridiculous base damage in
dark
, @
260
but only scales at A. So confsuing....seems like it would be ok for early game but only available late! The sunlight staff (called sunset in the guide) has S scaling for hexes as yu know so may be better later....who knows?!

Some hexes need a staff, some need a chime... ah, was hoping Idol's chime was the best for hexes because that's the one I decided to upgrade

You don't actually have to wait around the Belfry. Just wear the ring and play through the game. It'll summon you when someone else wanders into the area.

Just wait by the bonfire... You will still get summoned and not invaded. That is what I have been doing. And yeah your don't have to wait at the specific area. I just leave my guy idle there until I get summoned.

You don't have to wait in the bell towers to be summoned. Sure it is nice to other bellbros that are trying top rank up, but wait a bit away from them to actually get summoned yourself. I seemed to be summed even more if I wasn't waiting right outside the belltowers as well, as if the game wasn't sure if it was going to set me up to be invaded or let me invade, so keep that in mind.

Disastrous runs against the
Chariot boss
earlier

-Did okay first time, got blocked in by skeletons and couldn't get the stamina to stop them killing me
-Second time, I turned right after going through the fog door in a hurry and fell into the pit
-Third time, I sprinted past the 4 guys before the
rope bridge
hinking they'd give up the chase, and they slashed my spine to pieces while I was entering the fog

:(

Smelter Demon is so much fun when the NPC summon won't even enter the boss room half the time.

Fun.

Also his defense is a bit too high imo, I like fast and deadly fights way more than stupid long slogs.

So, glitch or intentional?

Played around more in Doors of Pharros last night, and after resting at a bonfire all the enemies wouldn't aggro me. And, I couldn't attack them (attacks went right through their body). Happen to anyone else?

Dark Sunset Staff, Dark Caitha's Chime

all you need for hexes.
Infuriating! As soon as I have the materials to upgrade one, I find out about a better one. I'm level 90ish with no twinkling to upgrade Idols Chime further now. Guess I will wait AGAIN to push off upgrading a chime until I find that one.

Seems like this game is even worse than the first in that some of the catalysts aren't worth using. At least in DS1 I could easily use the right one for my INT / FAI levels because you didn't have to upgrade them.

Gyrm Greatshield, Flash Sweat, and that ring that increases fire resistance. Don't summon the NPC because that'll just give the Smelter Demon more HP. And if he jams his sword into the ground, back off. That usually triggers his AOE attack.
