This was my exact first thought as well.
Buuuutcher Block!
This was my exact first thought as well.
WHAT?!I did this once
I will never wash away the shame
I killed the 1-4 boss this way too. I'm irredeemable.
Take some pictures too I want to see please if you wouldn't mind.
Instead of the Grym great axe why not use the Gyrm axe? It has better scaling, higher damage, and the same moveset as the great axe but is a bit shorter and is a bit lighter.
How do I know if I got punished for disconnecting during an invasion? My goddamn computer crashed when I was invading someone else as a bell keeper, and now I can't seem to invade anyone. Or alternatively, nobody has invaded the bell tower in the last 10 minutes which I doubt
.
At around 20 hours I'm in the ruins part of the shaded woods. The last boss I fought was Lost Sinner. I'm around soul level 80 something. How far am I through the game?

Okay so no, thank god. Bell keeping is too much fun.
Although Sol is a lot better than Luna, but it's still so damn far away
how many giant souls do you have total?
Have you killed any other bosses that led to a?bonfire which warped to Majula
You missed some paths like down the pit and the other exit of the rotunda. Bastille is optional and can be done far later if you wish too.Just the one.
You mean it's actually possible to have done others before Lost Sinner? Ever since I got to the Bastille and cleared No Man's Wharf I've assumed I was on a fairly linear path. I've explored a lot in this game and wasn't able to make progress anywhere else.
Just the one.

At this point you aren't very far in.
No souls are needed.Question:
When you use a soul vessel to reset your stats, do you you need to send souls at all or can you just freely reassign them?
Well you can't open it unless you can kill her or pay her so make your choice. The symbol of the king and the other item are acquired far latter.I'm not paying Licia 2000 souls. I don't trust her.
I just assumed at some point I'd get a thing that qualified as a "symbol of the king" which would let me open the two locked doors I've found so far. I also assumed I'd eventually find something that let me do something with that resting giant.

Dayum, summoned some naked dude wielding two greatswords somewhere around huntsman's copse, and we absolutely decimated the skeleton lords.
I love this kind of stuff

You only took off 10% of the skeleton lords lifebar with 2 people?
Damn man, get gud already.
None at all.Is there any sort of negative repercussions?
You mean False King, right?WHAT?!
Old King Allant might be one of the best bosses in the series, right next to Artorias. Go replay DeS, pronto!
I've used some "clever" and "cheap" tactics against bosses, but fogsniping is boring. The Maneaters in the Tower of Latria did tempt me to use it, though.
Crazy, I haven't even killed the boss you just beat and I can tell I've been to areas you haven't.Just the one.

Since I think people missed the previous post, what does Adaptability do, and is it needed for an STR build?
It raises your roll speed, shield up, estus consumption speed and some other things. It is worth it on a strength build to get between 95-110 agility via adaptability.Since I think people missed the previous post, what does Adaptability do, and is it needed for an STR build?
Dropped 100K souls, got ganked from behind on the retrieval run. I don't even know why I collected that much without spending, except to see how my character acts with a super stat boost. But I never expected the low level iron ninja to finish me. The only think I can wonder is why I never use those rings of sacrifice.
ADP increases your resistances to bleeding, poison, and curse, as well as increasing your agility (your invincibility frames during rolls, basically).

The Pit in Majula is very legit to go through early. You can go through it to get to shaded woods without beating a single boss.Did I just take an alternative path through the game or something? And for reference I was expecting this to be a 60-hour game, which is pretty much exactly how long it took me to beat Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1 each.
Other than the rotunda and risking a fall down The Pit, I haven't noticed any other paths to take than:
Majula -> Forest of Fallen Giants -> Lost Bastille -> Sinner's Rise -> Shaded Woods
Or
Majula -> Tower of Flame -> No Man's Wharf -> Lost Bastille -> Sinner's Rise -> Shaded Woods
Someone spoiler me: Who am I not supposed to free and where are they again?
whoa whoa whoa, now how do you do thatThe Pit in Majula is very legit to go through early. You can go through it to get to shaded woods without beating a single boss.
Otherwise you can go
Majula -> Tower of Flame -> Huntsman's copse, etc
You have described the rightest wayWhenever I see people say that they lost 100k+ souls I feel like I must be playing the game wrong. I always spend my souls once I reach the 30k mark.
inRoyal Sorcerer NavlaanAldia's keep. If you let him out while human he'll sell you stuff, but then he'll start invading you. If you speak with him while in hollow form you can get assassination quests from him
whoa whoa whoa, now how do you do that
After beating, talk to the merchant there. She'll be waiting atDragonriderthe place between Majula and Heide's Tower where you can open up the way to Huntasman's Copse for 2k.
Just beat dragonrider, talk to Licia until she moves to majula, make her open the path to huntsman's copse. No fancy shortcut, sadly, but it's the fastest you can get there.whoa whoa whoa, now how do you do that

This is also a great way to get shards early on becausethe path to Iron Keep has Chloanne. Once you clear it, you can buy Large Shards from her.
Yeah, I get what you mean now. I cleared No Man's Wharf and much of the Lost Bastille before heading into Hunstman's Copse but on doing so I found that it seemed like it was really meant to be tackled quite early.Just beat dragonrider, talk to Licia until she moves to majula, make her open the path to huntsman's copse. No fancy shortcut, sadly, but it's the fastest you can get there.
The other way is simply murdering Licia and doing it yourself.Well yeah, you mean Licia, who RedSwirl is just having stand by the mechanism uselessly. That's the only way to get to Huntsman's Copse I knew of, at least that early on.
