Darksiders II Reveal Trailer

Nothing besides a few minor issues present in the 360 version as well, well worth the money though.

PC version was like 7 bucks on amazon a few weeks ago though.

You get Darksiders 1 for free on Steam if you pre-order Space Marine.

Hope it's less like Zelda ( or better remove the old Zelda structure completely), more story focus this time and with better combat system.
It's funny because this is sort of the complete opposite of what most people seem to love about the first game.

I, for one, will take another Zelda-like. The first is awesome as fuck.

The way they're running this parallel to the original game, I hope there's some sort of payoff at the end that takes place after the events of the original. Even if it leads with another cliffhanger, which I'm sure it will, at least show us what lead up to the three others returning.

I hope the world feels a bit more open this time.

The world in Darksiders 1 had a pretty basic structure when it comes down to it. A central hub where Samael was held, a branch to the south for the starting area, a branch to the east for the first dungeon, a branch to the west for the second dungeon, and a branch to the north for the third and fourth dungeons.

I don't think that core structure is inherently bad, it's just that the branches themselves were all pretty linear, mostly just tunnels to get from one place to another. Even in the giant, open desert to the north, each area pretty much had one entrance and one exit.

Yeah, the world needs to be a more inter-connected Metroid'y world, that would make it way better.

When he was "gliding" down that wall it reminded me a bit of Prince of Persia, maybe that's the gameplay they'll emulate a bit this time around.
His horse looks awesome - I had hoped for something like this and they delivered. I love the fact that even if you weren't helped by the color schemes, you could clearly see Ruin would be War's horse and this one would belong to Death.

Hell to the yes. Can't wait for this. I was hesitant on Darksiders (because of how they renamed the horsemen Strife and Fury to sound cooler, ugh that sent bad feelings up my spine) but I eventually bit and I loved it. So can't wait for part II. Death looks awesome.

I'm really interested on the story, I wonder how they're going to handle Death especially since technically "No one commands Death, he comes for you all."

i prefer the darksider strife's design better.

So you want a sequel to a game to abandon everything that made the game what it is to suit *your* tastes? That's absolutely insane. Just don't buy the next one man.

Do the screens in the OP indicate the overall color scheme of this game going from the trailer?

I'd be disappointed if that's the case.

No. The footage in the actual trailer looks a lot like Darksiders, with pastel tones, except the primary color is purple instead of red. The weird disgusting looking green glow in the screens is likely just an effect in those screens, and its not something that is part of the art direction in the overall game, at least as far as I can tell.

Why are they being such ass hats about the youtube videos?

You don't want Darksiders 2.

Beyond your reasons, I feel like it would be hard to make a game only about the other two horsemen. War and Death? Sure, everyone knows them. Strife and Fury, the two they created because Pestilence and Famine would probably be pretty boring in this kind of game? I imagine that would be a bit of a harder sell.

Yeah, that's sort of what I was getting at by saying the series would end on a whimper. I don't think you can get a cool climax in this series in a game focused on Strife or Fury. They look cool in their own right, but based on the way they've been characterized thus far, War and Death are the main attractions. Hell the preorder comic basically confirmed that Death was the most powerful of all the horsemen, so it could only go downhill from there.

I think the best use of them would be a co-op side story like in Portal 2 or Splinter Cell Conviction or whatever other games. Game 1 with War, Game 2 with Death, secondary co-op mode of Game 2 with Strife and Fury, Game 3 with all 4.

Yeah something like this sounds likely.

He also has a severe weakness to kitties.

DLC of being able to play as the Death of Rats?

Anywho, adored the first game. Was even a fan of the design. Of course, I also love WoW, so my taste is questionable. I will gladly make this a day one purchase, if only to keep supporting the team that made the first game, regardless of how this one turns out.

It's good to see they're keeping the incredible voice acting and so-bad-they're-good one liners.

Wait, maybe I didn't pay attention in Darksiders, but Strife and Fury? What happened to Famine and Pestilence?

They don't exist in this version of the Apocalypse.

I'm most curious about this supposed loot system.

What are we looting? Weapons? Armor? Random gear could be interesting...

All I hope is whatever it is, it offers some sort of visual upgrade.

This is a bad idea expressed in a bad post and you should feel bad for this. Bad, I say!

The base structure is alright, what each branch needed were more interconnections to make your newly gained abilities look more useful and increase the sense of exploration.

Even better, a large Darth Maul-style double scythe.
Actually, I would be surprised if you didn't find one throughout the game.

Starving your enemies or getting them to catch a cold wouldn't be badass enough :(

I betting on the two scythes being upgradable to link together to get a doublescythe and a further upgrade that puts a chain between them. Like nunchucks. With sharp pointy ends.

So, basically, sword-chucks, only scythe-chucks instead.

Actually, what you're describing just makes me think of that ninja weapon with the two tiny scythe-thingies connected by a chain. Hell if I know the name of it, though. EDIT: It's called a "kama", according to my quick 'n' dirty Google, search.

Four scythes shuriken. There, I said it.
