Worst news ever to wake up to :( RIP David, what a life. My thoughts to the Bowie family and his friends.

Still hard to believe this news. Listening to Blackstar and Bowie is on fire, amazing work. Two days later from the albums release and Bowie is gone. :(

His songs would always be some of the first I'd sing in Rock Band. When my friend got Rock Band 3, I made him play his songs. Every time.

my twitter timeline is literally 40+ minutes of every single person talking about David Bowie, over a hundred different tweets.

I was telling my girlfriend we need to go to the David Bowie exhibition here in Holland, just on Saturday, only to find out this morning that Bowie is gone.

RIP Ziggy

I don't think I can handle watching The Snowman anymore. Watching that introduction clip on YouTube that someone linked earlier....ugh.

And I always hated that my DVD didn't have the Bowie intro. It's some random dude I've never heard of before (In the US, obviously...) but I always grew up with the Bowie one. It's what I saw on TV and had on VHS. Dunno why they did that on our DVD. Now I hate it even more even though seeing it kinda depresses me. The Snowman was my first exposure to him ever.

*Boom* Out of nowhere and of course the cause is cancer.... WTF. RIP Mr. Bowie. Your music was great and something many, many people enjoyed so much.

My brother came in to tell me the news earlier and I had to put the news on to make sure it wasn't a sick hoax going around or something. Absolutely devastated to see it's true... don't wanna believe it.

RIP :(

Sad news. Wasn't a huge fan of his music, but loved him in the movie Labyrinth. Also enjoyed him as the host of Showtime The Hunger series.

One of the most influential person, not just musicians, to ever live.

His music spoke to the world, and the world will never be the same without him.

I've always really wanted someone to make a movie musical out of Bowie's work.

Some crazy-ass sci-fi story involving Major Tom disappearing in space and leaving cryptic messages to Ground Control, while Ziggy Stardust becomes a worldwide rock sensation. Then a full-blown totalitarian state takes over from fear of the intergalactic threat (The Man Who Sold the World / Diamond Dogs), before ending with the Starman finally arriving to earth.

The music is just so rich and approachable, it always made me think of this Bowie-verse that existed.

Also, he was just cooler than everyone else.

RIP David Bowie

You were an amazing artist and will be missed.

Cancer is a terrible disease and I am amazed that he held on long enough to see Blackstar release and promote it before passing.

Having just lost my uncle to the disease on this past Friday evening, it's comforting to know he passed peacefully and surrounded by loved ones.

I remember someone was working on a musical based on his Thin White Duke persona.

It sucks that they couldn't get the rights to his music

Edit: It was a biopic. My bad.

Siting up in my bed tears streaming. He was so important to me as a gay man. More important than I knew now that this has happened so suddenly.

As a gay man. This is like losing my best friend.

Gutwrenching. Spent the last 20 minutes crying.

Bowie's embrace of a bisexual identity (whether it was accurate or not) was so far ahead of its time that it's astounding....

I agree with this so, so much.
