DAYS GONE v/s The Last Of Us 2 - Direct Side-by-Side Comparison [4K]

reviews doesn't mean shit, CP2077 fiasco ring any bells? most media wanted to hate DG from the moment it was announced because "just another zombie game and white protagonist", i remember the stupid bitch from gamespot bashing the game because the zombies were all white fucking lol

Days Gone is 80-85 in my books

edit1: op has shit taste confirmed

cyberpunk has an 86 for the pc version which is a lot lower than witcher 3 and also out of the top 50 for games in 2020. i think that's fair considering you know cyberpunk was at least somewhat ambitious and unique whereas days gone was an extremely safe game that ultimately couldn't even be good at what it wanted to be.

also, you can cry all day about becoming a victim to muh "identity politics" but at the end of the day the developers themselves are liberal if u follow them on twitter as well as a white protagonist was not why the game was slammed in reviews. get a grip

Days Gone is a better game in everything but animations

Yep regarding open world performance DG is pretty solid. Yep it has its moments of crazy wildlife behavior specially with the deers bit are very rare. Instead while riding you find wild animals fighting vs zombies when they see each other and is very well implemented compared to other games like AC Odyssey..

Weather dimamic is great specially when you have rain or snow storms. A nice touch is while raining + tunders zombies hear you less so you can approach to them more and not be detected, the storm covers your sound.

As an Open Worls game glitches are scarce , animal and humans A.I. is fine , zombies A.I is good and so much better with hordes. If you compare just on the Open World performance the game is better than fallout 4-76 Cyberbug. And is on par with RDR2 or Odyssey...

Disagree. Days Gone is the new standard all open worlds should be held too. RDR2 did well with the dynamic world it set but Days Gone took it to the next level. Gun mechanics and general gameplay were obviously an easy beat too but that goes without saying really.
I want whatever you're smoking. Sure dynamic weather in days gone was good, they did a great job with that. But a dynamic world? Dude, there's nothing in the world besides a few random world events that usually just involve u being shot by people in trees or you saving some idiot on the side of the road who goes through the exact same routine with deacon telling him to find a camp. All style no substance.

If you want to talk about how the hordes could be dynamic and getting them to invade murder camps and what-not.. sure, that's a great thing that they did with that. But when it comes down to the brass tax it's pretty insulting to say that formulaic game is the new open-world standard.. lol! Yep same cut and paste forced stealth missions where you're sneaking around for nero intel or whatever the fuck. it doesn't help that u can't even swim in the water (which they gave a lame ass excuse in the story for that) and there are loading screens every time between cut scenes. not to mention the story was incredibly laughable for the wrong reasons. plus i mean it's literally just a Ubisoft game when it comes to the gameplay loop.

so, hordes and weather are good, ill give it that. but standard! christ almighty!

I just couldn't get into Days Gone. I held out waiting for it to go on deep discount, and then got it for free with the PS+ Collection. Got about 7 hours in and the flow of the game just did not work for me. Definitely did not care about the characters at all. Say what you will about TLoU2, but even if you HATED Abby, you felt something.
I am very much not a fan of collecting random trash for quick crafting garbage in either game.

This happened to me , started te game months ago and after 5-7 hours left it.

Got my PS5 last year and saw the 4k60fps patch so tried to check imporvements and they were good. So kept playing and from my point of view you star caring about characters on the second part of the game also introduce new interesting ones.

Not are breathaking characters but at least you want to see how story ends.

The problem with DG is that takes nearly half the game to get into the story.

Well the world is dying hordes eated most of animals and humans so it achives good the sense of solitude while riding. Yep Nero and camp dynamics are like playing FarCry or Odyssey camps but think are less repetitive than those games at least is funier dealing with zombies than humans.

Its a great solid Open World game if you stop while riding the bike on an spot you can se funny or cool.stuff like a group of zombies chasing a deer or wolfs chasing zombies, or one kind of zombie chasing another...it has a lot of those kind of dynamicis often.

You're forgetting the dynamics of the people and animals too and all three can come together at any one time in an endless variation of formats. That's like saying the only dynamic feature of RDR2 is the same criminal in cuffs by the roadside.

Days gone was done by a much smaller team and is open world with dynamic day/night cycle and weather, it stands up to the best looking open world games this gen IMO.

I enjoyed both games...played Days Gone on Hard II difficulty and the world felt really dangerous which really added to the immersion factor.

Man on a mission!

The narrative for the TLOU2 kills what ever technical achievements it has. It could look real for all I care, and I would still play Days Gone.

Checked out State of Decay 2, which I just noticed is not available on the PS4, and WHAT? Those graphics!

I'm not trying to hate on Days Gone or anything. Just showing how much better TLOU2 is.

That said, Days Gone might be a fun time if you like playing bad games.

Edit 1: I'm just realizing how bad this post is. Sorry.

Edit 2: Days Gone still trash tho

Doesn't really make sense to compare 2 very different games

Sadly, you're wrong. Days Gone not only was buggy and incomplete at launch, but it also was a 2013 open world game releasing in 2019. From the combat animations, cut and paste mission design, dialogue, voice acting, world setup, shooting mechanics, all in all an embarrassment for Sony Studios in 2019 which was an off-year for them as a whole.

Perhaps sony was even so unhappy about it and that's why they cleaned house at bend and have them working on a new ip.

How was Days Gone "incomplete" at launch? It was a way longer game than most single-player releases with a substantial endgame component post story completion.

Yes. They expanded it substantially post launch, but its not like it was short of content or replayability from the start.

Dialogue and voice acting are top notch, way better than most games, and the game feels good to play. You do have to upgrade your gear to get the best combat experience, but by the same token to get the full-on chaos you need to play deep into the campaign as new enemy types/events get layered in as you go.

Yes it was buggy, but not Cyberpunk buggy and Bend patched regularly for over a year, culminating in a nice repackaging that shrunk the install size down by a third despite all the additions.

Sorry, I can't possibly take you seriously, as you used an incorrect idiom :messenger_squinting_tongue:, its brass tacks, not brass tax! Just a pet peeve of mine.

I am currently addicted to Days Gone on PS5.

I think its extremely good. I'm glad I waited though, the game supposedly had its issues at first and on PS5 it runs like butter. Its graphically close to TLOU while being open world. Just the cutscene directing, VA and all is a notch below Naughty Dog but a lot of other work are.

I love Days Gone. I don't even fast travel. I like traversing the countryside on a bike. Its great fun. The missions are kinda varied. There is stealth, there is shootbang, there are escorts (without the typical annoyances), hordes are impressive. At some point I saw a pack of wolves, wanted their meat. I shot them up but the shots attracted freaks and it was at night so before I realized I was in a skirmish. They took down my bike so I had no time to pick it up, I had to clear out the pack first. It was tense and just happened when I was on the way back.

I also beat TLOU2 in the summer and had a blast, the encounter design and level design of the action parts were really well done with lots of possibilities. But if I had to choose, I like Days Gone more. I think its underrated and perhaps reviewed too harsh because of the game initially not being all that polished at launch.

Si?

I'm not joking, I prefer Knack 2 (not the first one) over any Mario I've played, and I played Mario Galaxy, Odyssey, etc.

I understand that Mario games are better but I had a lot more of fun with Knack 2.
They are different games, mario is a platform, knack is basically a cartoony brawler with some jumps in between.

I had more fun with knack too because i like combat far more than platforming.

Of course it doens't mean that knack is the superior game.

I just wanted to highlight how horrible Days Gone is compared to quite possibly the best game of all time(TLOU2)

A 300 man game is bested by a 20 man State of Decay 2. Bend is bleeding Sony dry.

Undead Labs has over 100 employees now and still growing. Can't wait to see SOD3 and how it destroys Days Gone.
This post has to be a joke lol

The game was fine at launch. No mpre buggy than any other open world game. I never had any issues until late in the game when the last bike speed upgrade caused some really bad stuttering issues while traversing the world at times. During gameplay and final missions it was fine.

The game was rock solid with 1000 enemies on screen. No drops below 30. People just trashed it because it was the cool thing to do back then.
