Days of Play 2025 Starts May 28 | Discounts on PS5 Consoles, PS+, PS VR2, Games, and Accessories

So, because my PS+ Premium sub ends June 26th I'm now not allowed to take part in the 33% PS+ discount because I'm subbed a few days "too long"?

That's the line for me. I'm done being disrespected as a customer. Was willing to extend the sub after cancelling, but now I'm so, so done.

What a way to scare away your hardcore user base.
It is lame as fuck.

I'm gonna be in the same boat next year when my sub expires mid june.

I'm gonna let it cancel and wait as long as i can for a discount.

In a time where everyone is putting their prices up to see some actual discounts and wide ranging ones too is really refreshing to see.

Nintendo and Microsoft should take note.

Bought $110 worth of top-up cards and renewed my PS+ Premium for one year. Next year when it expires I should land near or exactly during the 2026 Days of Play window so I can resub at a discounted price again.

Imagine raising the price and not doing a promotion to where your budget alternative (Series S) is more expensive than your mainline competition that is far more powerful.
What it has to do Series S with this lol can't care less about the xbox.

A few weeks ago, I was ready to write a piece on the Series S being the lowest price point for potential PC players, just looking to tide them over until it launched on Windows. Now, I have no reason to. Even after the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition goes back up to $449, it'll only be $70 more for a base console edition, not the somewhat underpowered workhorse that is the Xbox Series S.

I already have everything I want that's on sale here. It won't let me reup my PS+ at a discount because I still have 5 days on it. All they'll let me do is upgrade to the top tier for $1 for the remaining 5 days and then it will renew at full price. I'll try again when it expires in a few days.

I've let it lapse twice now and Sony always makes me an offer afterwards. First time it happened, i had just ended my subscription in February and they were running a promotion of Extra for $80 so i took it. I figured why choose Essential for the same price (since it was raised to $80) when Extra adds more.

2nd time it was this year. Once again i let it lapse. This time there was no promotion. So, i must've been without PS+ for 2 or 3 weeks. And, just when i was about to cave and get Essential, when i went to the PS Store, it offered me Premium for $100. Once again, i took it.

I'm always going to try and get PS+ on sale and if i'm forced to get Essential next year cause i wait and wait and there's no offer then so be it. I took those offers cause i wanted to try the other tiers, but i'm okay with the basic stuff.

Totally insane. Why would anyone buy an Xbox if they don't have a console. The price raise was insane especially when the X wasn't even selling when it was at near clearance price months ago. It almost seems like they priced them like that to force the closure of their manufacturing line.
MS have shown how clueless and greedy they truly are. They jumped at the chance to raise prices on their pitiful selling consoles. I does look as though they are trying to kill themselves off completely.

The Nioh collection at 71% off has my interest. But for some reason I can't seem to find it on PSN.

Edit: With a quick search online, looks like it's exclusive to Best Buy? Lame.

So, as a hardcore user what's your plan?
Are you staying disconnected?

33% off is still too much as far as I'm concerned. With the exception of one month to move saves from PS5 to Pro I've been out since the psn stacking cheat ended. $5/month was perfect, impulse purchase price, that's where they need to be, I would become a fanboy.

Yes. I am done being disrespected while being loyal for years. Missing out an a deal because I'm subbed 11 days too long? Yeah, F off Sony.

So, I'll just finish the backlog on other systems.

For real?

I can tell you a seeecret…
I moved "fully" to PC about a year ago. Bought a $3500 living room PC that runs everything better than on console and just cut all console cords.

Or so I thought. Because then came Astrobot… And the Pro… And the thoughts of having to either 1) wait 1-2+ years for everything 1st party or 2) literally playing the lowest end version available on the standard PS5.

So I caved. Bought Astrobot, platinumed it. Bought a Pro, only to use specifically for 1st party games. (This year has been trashhhhh!!!!)

So, good luck, if you're a hardcore user I think you'll find it difficult to move away. I wasn't hardcore and I still couldn't do it fully.

That said, it gets easier once you adapt to having to wait. It's worst during the release week, 2 weeks after a release the talk online slows down and people go back to waiting for the next big thing and playing whatever they played before, just like you.

I am a hardcore user but only used PS+ for the "free" Plus games and library. So, all in all.. I won't miss a thing.

And like I said, I don't want to pay a company who disrespects its users.

I can agree with that, hope you don't use Windows then. What a disrespect to user's privacy(among other things).

I have all systems, including PC. GamePass gives me rewards (discount) for playing. I feel respected. NSO on Switch is cheap as F. PC is cheap (free).

Sony denies their most loyal customers a discount because they figure they'll pay anyway. It's an easy decision for me to cancel my sub. They don't take me seriously and I see lots of negativity surrounding this "deal" they have. Every year they F over their loyal customers. I'm done.

I was able to get the pro for around $500 by doing the following at Dell.com.

Starting price = $650
Final tax = $48

Discounts/cashbacks:
10% off coupon for newsletter signup = $65
6% cashback = $35
Amex $100 statement credit for spending >$500 at Dell.com = $100

Final price => 650-65-35-100+48 = $498

See, this is why I can't take this type of opinions seriously :

You feel "disrespected" by Sony for a friggin' sub of all things but, somehow, you feel "respected" by MS, a company that literally sold you out as customers by going full 3rd party and having its games on other competing platforms making the console/platform that you spent your hard earned 500 Eurodollars literally obsolete - b...b...but "Gamepass® !" you'll say, right ?

Listen, I'd be willing to agree that you're actually right in that it's stupid or even shitty not being able to renew your sub but, when the double standards are so exaggerated...yeah.

And then he uses a PC with Windows which DEFINITELY does NOT respect the user. Recall says what?! Built-in keylogger, says what?!

What's the point?
No new 1st party games besides Astrobot (which I already own and is great).
Let me know when God Ragnorok is $19.99 and I will bite, its the only game I don't have that I have some intersect in (not enough to buy it full price, after hearing that it's lackluster).

Seriously this list of software looks like PS4 late stage continued.
Where is actual new games. Or sequels to fan loved sony franchises?
Nowhere.

They may have the graphic power but they are lacking the games.
Nintendo is the console champ when it comes to 1st party and games, along with PC of course.

I want Killzone, resistance, Heavenly sword, Motorstorm, Warhawk, Tokyo Jungle, Gravity Rush, Sly Cooper, Dark Cloud, twisted metal, wipeout, and Infamous remasters or sequels.... nah can't do that, too masculine and triggering for our "modern audience™"

When I look at those PS5 first party sale prices, I'm reminded of just how cheap stuff like GOW 2018, Spiderman, BloodBourne, Until Dawn, Uncharted 4/Lost Legacy etc etc were on PS4 after a few years. All of those titles I got off PSN as cheap as $7.99 within 2-3 years of launch, up to $20 max( Spider-man GOTY Xmas 2019). If Sony had followed the same pricing strategies this gen, PS5 first year titles like Demon Souls, Returnal, Ratchet and Clank, Miles Morales would have been permanently slashed to $20 by now( or maybe $30 based on the $10 price increase) and then 50% off that price.

Gaf broke me down and I ended up trading in my PS5 Slim for a Pro at GameStop. It was $350 total. I hope you are all satisfied.

Nah... Typical woke era/reddit way to insult someone, instead of a reasoned reply.

Those games series do fit what I am saying. Tyoko jungle is about mating and survival of the fittest. It's about nature and taking over after humans go extinct. It was an amazing game, it sucks its stuck on ps3. You can't deny a lot of the games I'm talking about were either traditional fps, racing, off roading, about war and some had beautiful women (Heavenly sword).

Modern Sony (outside of astrobot, which is an amazing game celebrating sonys glory days) is more interested in GaaS, 1.5 decades of the last of us, ugly characters, non feminine women characters, no indies, not releasing anything of importance. Their priorities are all wrong. They also refuse to remaster or port all the old games. Why? Maybe I'm off the mark with my original comment, but I can't fathom why they leave their back catalog of greats to die. It's like they are embarrassed by them. Nintendo doesn't do that, quite the opposite and they make new games in their traditional style too.

This. It's why I refuse to buy Ragnorok. Gow could be had for $20 2 years after release. They got insanely greedy with the ps5. They refuse to give good sales.

Calling people retarded over retarded comments is commonplace everywhere, including here. Case in point, the rest of your post:

Tokyo Jungle being this sort of anti-woke conservative game with traditional values is some top tier comedy. I see people on ResetEra obsessed with Tokyo Jungle all the time, haven't they got the memo?
Again, top 5 most retarded NeoGAF users.

Maybe they learned it wasn't worth the price drops to reduce margins. I'm agree that they used to have amazing deals. However, their sales are still better than Nintendo.

They want more margins, they followed the Nintendo strategy.

Demons souls and Miles Morales still have their original MSRP.

Too bad

Hell looking at my PSN transaction history, in 2017 I got Last of Us remaster(2014) for $7.99, Until Dawn(2015) for $7.99 , Wipeout Omega Collection(2017) for $15.99, Uncharted 4(2016), Horizon Zero Dawn ( 2017) and Uncharted Lost Legacy( 2017) for $19.99 apiece, in 2019 I got GOW(2018) for $9.99 and Spiderman GOTY( 2018) for $19.99. Let's not even get into all the $2-4 Vita and PS3 games I see on my account that I completely forgot about lol.

Its that and I also think it was the first (console) generation that digital *really* took hold, and the best way to get people into your ecosystem is bargain bin pricing. Now that you've built up your digital library, they no longer have to dangle the carrot.
