DayZ - zombie apocalypse online FFA permadeath survival Arma II mod

Origins is cool and since it got a huge update it really adds a lot to the game. I dont like that buildings take so damn long to set up or you really need a team to get something like that running.

well we used to run a pretty great team in the GAF mumble from time to time, too bad everyone is dead.

I stopped playing when I heard the game was due out in a few months (i.e. last Christmas).

Unfortunate that the release date keeps slipping. Don't get me wrong, it's great that there'll be a lot of improvements when we finally get it, but if I've got to wait I'd rather know then having it pushed back every 2 months or so.

Playing some breaking point later tonight around 8pm eastern time. We are using the REAL gaf mumble if youre into that sort of thing.

Hint: Not in mumble, you cant be trusted. =)

Speaking of dayz, I see origins has some serious upgrades including basebuiding, building houses, pickaxes, and all kinds of shit. I've been watching psyndicate on his latest videos and it looks pretty neat.

Too bad I have no free time in my life. I would love to sink a weekend into building. If we could only have a server or choose a server, it would be fun to start getting a character and items together slowly.

Breaking point? Is it a new mod?

BTW how's hacking in DayZ lately?

Hacking is still a thing. Maybe not as bad but last night I had an angry hacker who couldnt live with losing his gear so he went invisible and killed me

And heres a link to the Breaking Point thread over on the DayZ forums. I really like the changes. And this, like origins, continues to get updates. Plus it has like 600 new guns with new sounds for just about everything. Oh and working dogs. Cant forget about those dogs.

So wait, which DayZ does everyone play now?

I just converted another console peasant, so we're playing vanilla Cherno (four of us total now).

We found a server that has lots of vehicles and loot drops, and AI bandits(!). It's also low population, so it's perfect to start on.

Peeking my head in after a session with Escape From Butcher's Bay...Now I don't know fi I should re-install ARMA II or continue?!

Breaking Point sounds damn awesome...Origins, awesome. Any of the OG DayZ crew playing them?

We played For a good while tonight. Ill try to get some video soon of our sessions. Biggest thing for me with Breaking point is that just because there are 600 new guns doesnt mean you are tripping over them. Just adds a variety of weapons at play. And tasers is one of the best starter gun ever.

Did Rocket say anything about non-Chernarus maps on the standalone? Taviana is about 10000000x better than Chernarus and I don't know if I could go back.

Finally got geared up - DMR, M1911, Compass, Map, with some nice camo clothes and enough food and water for a while.

Started running to Vishnoye so I could get a dog and half way through the woods a hacker teleports to me and shoots me in the back. I spin around and get a headshot on him and nothing happened, so he laid in another five or so shots in to my torso.

So I think I'm done for a while.

I would be happy if there was never any mod support for Standalone with absolutely no scripting abilities. I think it'd be worth it to get rid of this bullshit because it fucking ruins this game.

best hacking moment of my life yesterday: The bastard, puts everybody in the server on a fucking biplane. It was hilarious, an army of planes flying together in the sky and crashing on the ground, because not everyone can drive that fucking thing XD

New to PC gaming and I am extremely intrigued by the 'concept' of this game (LOVE The Walking Dead)... is there still a good community for it? Is the game still plagued by hackers? Most importantly is it noob solo friendly? (lol, no rl friends to play with).

I really want to try this game out and like it but at $25 USD for Arma II I want to be able to enjoy it.

Any advice appreciated!! :)

As someone who just started playing DayZ this month and is pretty LTTP, I can say that solo play will be pretty tough and discouraging for you.

For the most part, the plague of hackers can be sidestepped completely by installing Commander and sorting yourself into low population servers that give you some freedom from DayZ veterans. The design of the health system in particular encourages cooperative play due to the need of having a second player to administer healing items (blood bags/transfusions).

That being said, if you have a fairly experienced buddy and a low ping/population server then you can have a great deal of fun even if you die a bunch of times on your first few sessions.

SA cant come soon enough.

If rocket put out an Alpha right now Id be ALL over it. Just getting sick of the shit thats going on the public servers.

The more I see of Arma 3 the more I wish they used it as a base for the DayZ standalone.

I know that some of the features of Arma 3 were ported back to the Take-On Helicopters engine specifically for use in DayZ. I hope this is one of them.

Also quote to find my latest dump of stuff for anyone bothering to hop on Breaking Point.

Wow, that fog is a literal game changer. Completely changes how you navigate and could even make you feel a bit safer in certain situations. Hope it makes it to DayZ.
