If you want some DBZ nostalgia, but are not too much of a fan yes.I really like DB Fighterz, but haven't played many other great DBZ games.
Is this one good?
It's probably the most faithful DBZ action adventure single player retelling of the 3 original Sagas.I really like DB Fighterz, but haven't played many other great DBZ games.

So it's good?

The combat is the best part specifically and only at the highest difficulty it's easily the best 3d combat. Where the game falters is long load times side quests that are drawn out etc. I love the game adding things that didn't happen in the show like ssj2 vs spc as an actual fight or the offscreen elements like trunks talking with future chi chi about gohanPersonally I don't think the game is bad. Loved every bit of it, but I'm a huge dbz fan.
If you're a dbz fan, in terms of narrative it's the most faithful game you can get your hands on.
Combat is OK, not over the top, but it actually makes you feel like you're rewatching the show. So that's good imo.
But if you expect it to be an over the top fighting game you're gonna be disappointed.
They showed a video yes it's 60fps with brand new assets and likely much faster loadingAt last! Are there details about next gen update? With a 60fps patch I would be happy.
Im more partial spirit vs spirit, and *some* of the bruce faulconer tracks like perfect cell's theme, gohan vs freeza, ginyu's transformation. Oh, and his buu saga opening themeI just hope they throw in Solid state scouter into the ost.
It's legit the most banger theme on dbz.

this game does cut out some things unfortunately but your ignoring that this is the only game that adds things that weren't there like spc vs ssj2 as it's own thing with exclusive cutscenes and all we also get to see a lot of off screen elements from the show in this game usually in a quest or dialogue bitI'd say the best way to experience Dragon Ball Z is by playing Legacy of Goku, Legacy of Goku II, and Buu's Fury. They're the de facto DBZ experience.
I don't think this game is the "full DBZ experience" some people make it out to be. It may have the most arcs, but it lacks the charm the other games I mentioned have, and although "open world", it consists of small sections and none of them are particularly well done at that. The biggest problem is the side quests, which are about as bad as you can get. And it's also a grind feat, which if you really wanna feel like Goku, I guess it is faithful in that regard.

budokai cutscense are glorified text boxes where the people stand still here it was gohan exploding with anger after vegeta was shot with cell taunting him and they launch at each other even during the fight theres a lot of dialogue with things like why wont you die or i dont know if i can beat him etc.But it's not the only game that has done that. Literally the first Budokai game had that. It was had better cutscenes too. Budokai even had Vegeta going super Saiyan against Goku in their first fight.
I really wanted to like this game, and to some extent I still do like it. But there are some glaring flaws.
If someone has modded it though (assuming thats even possible beyond superficial stuff) so it gets rid of the stupid orbs, makes the sky "ceiling" higher, adds better enemies on Earth/Namek/etc., and makes custom maps then I'll probably come back to it.
DBZ Kai is worth rewatching, it removes all the filler. So for example instead of the first season (Saiyan Saga) going on for 35 episodes, it's reduced down to 17 episodes.I liked how comprehensively they retold the story, because I absolutely will not sit down and watch all of DBZ again in my life, but the actual game was very much of the sort where you figure out the one tactic that always works and just do it over and over. It's much more fun than Xenoverse though which I consider barely playable

About Kai I'm in animation program at my college and it's fun doing custom animations and edits of Kai with the FAULCONER score seriously gohans scream in Kai is horrifying when paired with scoreDBZ Kai is worth rewatching, it removes all the filler. No.
It's a basic arena fighter reskinned as a "RPG" by having a boring open world to fly around where you can fight the same 3 types of enemies over and over as well as do very basic and boring sidequest.
Admittedly, if you are a big DBZ fan there is some joy in getting to fly around these iconic locations. And at least some of the boss battles are decent.
But it's a 6/10 at best
Looking back on this game it really is a love letter to the DBZ series as a whole.
Everything from including the original Japanese OST, the "Z Encyclopedia" (w/an impressive relationship chart), the Community side stuff and the numerous side quests that give small insights to the supporting cast screams fan service. It really is a shame some DBZ fans seem to want to deliberately throw shade or outright hate on it.
I could understand if the gameplay was fundamentally broken or unfun to play but it's very much serviceable....go figure![]()
Yep.
My biggest gripe is the devs consolidated a lot of the iconic locations into various individual maps. For instance having Yamcha's hideout like a 1/2 a mile from Goku's house, and Goku's house like 2 miles from Gohan's school.
And that's one thing. But then you make the world feel even smaller, by making the sky have a relatively low "ceiling".
"Deliberately throw shade"
I'm sorry you have low standards. And that's the problem, is this is the "best" we will get because the devs will see people accept what they put out. It's not awful but it's not even the best DBZ game, and there are a number of things the game can improve on:
- Enemy variety
- World map
- Side quests
- Fight transition
- HUD/overlay
- Move set / combos
- Dialogue outside cutscenes
- Graphics consistency
- Collectibles (Dragon Balls, orbs, etc.)
- Leveling
- Animations
Started playing It again in my PS5.
Great improvement over my PS4 Pro version with SSD installed.
I still don't Like the fighting system in the game.
The constant flying arround in the fights Is not my style.
Forgotten about this upgrade. Is it just a patch or a separate download?
