De-leveling? WTF?

PLaying some Halo 2 multiplayer over Live with a buddy last night. Game is about to start up when one of our teammates says "Let me take the bomb! I know the best way to go!" Ok, whatever. Game starts, he picks up the bomb and drops it right away...picks it up again, then drops it right away...so the bomb is like a flashing beacon to the other team.

Run over there and hear him say to the other team "Come and kill me! I need to de-level!" He betrayed me not too long afterwards so I booted him when prompted. Similar thing happened in another game later on.

Why the hell do you want to de-level. Am I missing something?

*Also, unrelated to my title...to the guys on the opposing team who refused to score the flag for the third time after 2 of my teammates dropped out me just so they could act like dicks and gang up on me and my one remaining teammate THEN contested so the game wouldn't end...FUCK YOU!

Thanks. I feel much better.

you are missing something. anyone who is online that is not you or your friends is a complete cunt.

I've had this argument when I used to play halo and the kids would say smart shit like "well fuck you, this is my second account anyway" like they are some kind of genius paying double for the same experience. they are dumb morons and its not worth the energy.

QFT - 90% of the time anyway. I've probably never played any of you on Live because almost everyone I play against is a total turd. Every so often I find a good room though and can have a laugh with some strangers.

The problem is that people take it too seriously and nobody wants to just have a laugh and a bit of fun. I play competitively but it's all about having fun. If I'm not having fun with the people I'm playing against, then I might as well play offline

Yeah I don't get it either. I think they do it so they can drop down to some lame leveled people so they can demolish them and rise back up in the rankings. I dunno seems really stupid to me.

Dammit Xbox Live should have taken us out of the online gaming ghetto! ;)

Proof that people will act like assholes... even if they have to pay to do so.

Yeah, it doesn't get much better with 360. I had a moron that was hunting me down last night playing PDZ even though were were on the same team. He had a good laugh about it the few times he killed me over the headset.

At least on the 360 your feedback actually does something. Give them bad feedback causes their stars to go down (if you have high stars then Live will only match you with other high star people) and makes Live know you don't want to play with that fucker anymore. This won't solve the problem but it'll help.

Wait... if you have low feedback ratings, on the new Live you'll only be matched with others with low feedback ratings?

That's awesome. I hope it works as good as it sounds.

I wonder if it will make any of the mouthbreathers introspective. Or if they'll thrive in the stew of incompetence, racism and general apathy of the "chronically flawed personality" ranked games they are forced to play in.
