You'd think so, but Tecmo probably paid for those commercials months ago, when it seemed like it'd be ready on time. That's why we've been seeing them for a month now with still no game.

I'm guessing i'm the only one hoping for a short delay. I don't want to get owned when I first start playing by being the newcomer.

Nope; they still had the ship date listed as 12/21 after everyone else had changed it to 12/28.

The way they've delayed it points to the game being a carrot dangled for December to keep interest in 360 high throughout the month because I think the game is a big enough deal that people were purchasing 360s to play it. Certainly in Japan that's going to be true. But I think it's a big deal here in the States too.

If they had announced a delay to Jan or Feb earlier this month when the first date came and went, people would've really freaked out given the Oblivion delay, short system supply, general grumbling about the launch lineup, etc. This was all a PR move IMO.

Game has gone gold, you can see MS people with achievements in it. Should be a good indicator on imminent release.

Now, the question is - should I get this? I love Tekken, but I'm not too big a fan of the Virtua Fighter take on the genre. My EB Games called me and said that I've got a payment down on PDZ still. I insisted that I got the game already from them, but they didn't give up, claiming that I've got still cash in and offering DOA4. Now that is customer service.

Get it. DOA borrows from both games. The button setup and strings are similar to Virtua Fighter but you hold back to block like Tekken. This simplifies things a great deal IMO. Plus I'm sure the online will be really good.

I checked with the EBGames close to where I live and they told me that the game wasn't expected this week.

More like "worst. lag. ever."

In any case, I'll be surprised if the game ships this week. It doesn't seem like anyone knows exactly when it's shipping and unless it's going to be some sort of a surprise, it's more likely to ship early next year. Gamestop still has the game listed as shipping tomorrow, but their website says it ships on the 30th, which means it would arrive on Saturday...which is highly unlikely.

My guess is next week and if not...February. Heh.

Tecmo stuff usually drops on Thursdays, so if it isn't in-store on the 29th (30th for Canada EB) then it'll be out next year.

That said, VGP still stands by the 28th release and they are 99.9% correct when it comes to release dates. But, I can definitely see DoA4 as the exception to that.
