Dead or Alive 5 Last Round PC Information is Finally out

Pretty impressed by the performance. My 780ti can hold 4k + 4xAA most of the time. That does cause it to sound like an aircraft taking off though, so I stick to 2xAA. Can't tell the difference to be honest.

Make sure you set your DOA5 in-game res to 4k.

I did and nope.

What did I do wrong? (Used Jediyoshi settings and nothing)

The only difference I'm noticing with Soft body is more breast movement... Am I suppose to be seeing more?

Joints or whatever are supposed to be "more realistic" but yeah: Their main advertisement was "OMG BOOBIES" so yeah, a lot of perverts on Steam are all "OMG WE'RE MISSING THE BOOBIES" which is missing the forest for the trees.

(Not like the Boobies weren't already unrealistic with OMG or DOA mode)
BOOBIES

man im having major trouble getting the combo system down

You mean the PPK dial-a-combo or doing combos->linking moves?

Maybe is just me but this game seems really casual in the gameplay mechanics, at least compared to Capcom/SNK fighters.

...That's kinda the point. Easy to learn. Hard to master
according to FreeStepDodge
.

The critical stun system is kinda confusing, but it seems like the type of thing that basically boils down to confirming counter hits into a memorized combo. Confirming a high counter vs. a counter vs. a regular hit seems like it'd take more getting used to though. Not sure how off-base I am though lol.

All of this to say that I find the mechanics in this game more confusing than SF4.

Edit: The start/back buttons on my stick are mapped to LT/RT in this game for some reason.

Save replays and and take pictures from them with the camera options?

That's what I currently do, but the options are still so limited. You can basically pivot the camera around a circular point. You have 3 points to choose from - the mid-distance between the two characters, and each character's mid-point. If you can't get the angle and depth-of-field rotating around those points, then you're out of luck. It's a frustrating system. I also wish you could set shutter speed as well as aperture, that would be awesome. I love taking photos, and taking pics of real martial arts isn't happening any time soon, so if they buffed it up the photo mode in DoA could be spectacular, like it is in Infamous SS and Gran Turismo (the king of photo modes... though I haven't tried Driveclub yet). Man, I love photo modes.

Its easy to get into it but the matches can get pretty technical when people who know the game well play on tournaments. Some intense matches man.

Y->whatevernumberdirectionY+B->Critical Stun->Y->nY+B->Critical Burst.

It's that simple, really. You can literally do two hits into a critical stun, one more and then put someone into critical burst state. The tutorial in training will help you learn the systems.

So how does this port hold up? I am thinking of buying it. But the fact that this seems to be based on the last gen version makes me a bit cautious.

In DOA almost everything is a counter hit. So you throw out a random poke and if it connects you try to guess which way the opponent will hold. Of all the major fighters it's probably the least focused on things like movement, execution, and reflexes. You're mostly just memorizing strings and trying to predict randomly cancelled strings.

When downsampling to 4k does anyone get a few stages messed up?

Is the game supposed to support 4K? I know there was talk when it first launched that it gave an error about "not matching the desktop resolution" if you went over tried to downsample without GeDoSaTo

DOA is a great game. But some people just dont want to call it a good game. That said they said that about smash and now they have to eat shit. :E

Using GeDoSaTo and I get that weird visual error in a few stages. Game runs at perfect speed and looks good on most stages but kinda sucks some parts break like that. Game supports 4K.

So, uh... Are there any options for disabling bloom? Probably not? I don't have the game so I can't check, but it's kind of bothering me in screenshots.

Not in game. But maybe GeDoSaTo and SweetFX?

Seconding this. Was completely on-board before the downgradeathon happened, but now it seems like it's a half decent port optimization wise?

Just got the game downloaded. Damn, it looks good. Kept up 60 from the max settings that I played with.

The 30 fps with the character intros is so jarring. Is the console versions 30 fps or something? I see no need for the intros to be 30 fps at all.

4xSSAA w/ 4k + 4k shadow resolution does max out my 780 Ti so I might go down to 2xSSAA. With 2xSSAA, I was getting just over 50% GPU usage so I have no idea why 4xSSAA pushes it to 100% usage. I couldn't tell a difference honestly between the two.

Besides the obvious omissions, it's the best looking/performing version of the game I've played.

4K, AA... super clean image quality. Once online play is here, it will absolutely be the version to own imo. Plus the potential with texture modding in this game is a huge plus. Some of the environments would look SO much better with a bit more texture detail.

Let's hope the community is there to make it happen.

Impressively decent. I've heard people are running the game on Intel HD 4600s @ 720p60.
Really want the game, but I'm gonna wait for a price drop.

yup. i downloaded today at the office cause i was bored with my laptop and played it very decently on an intel hd 4000. now on y deskto its ez 60fps. but very well optimized and such a fun fucking game, i had no idea what i was missing.

Should've had faith in supporting Team Ninja like some of us did. ( ͡^ ͜ʖ ͡^)

(Kidding, but seriously. A lot of the backlash still going on is completely overblown over two missing features that aren't MAJOR.)

I'm just glad the pre-order outfits Tecmo provided also include the men. Them Rig outfits. Woof.

There are a bunch of actual PC port issues though, in particular the majority of XInput controllers being mapped incorrectly and the lack of resolution options.

Right. I don't disagree that the issues like Xinput and other such port issues need to be fixed. But it seems like half of Steam's population is still stuck on the Soft Engine omission which is just "WTF dudes, it's not that serious/needed."

It's difficult to rate a game that plays just fine, but is missing a lot of features.

Ultimately I think it's best that TK is held accountable for that. I think the Steam reviews are very overblown though.

Wouldn't 4xSSAA + 1920x1080 be similar to rendering 4x the number of pixels, basically equaling 4k resolution? If so, then 4xSSAA + 3840x2160 would be what? All I know is it brings my 780 down to its knees too in some stages lol

yeah

like PP ->PK ;/

its in the tutorial where you have to do the critical hits?

A lot of features? Particle Effects, Softskin Engine and 2 Stages? The only real damage to me was the stages. (Online is coming so I'm not including that here)

After looking at the comparison video the PC version looks better despite not having the new particle system. Also messing with GeDoSaTo, ReShader and SweetFx seems to have some interesting results. (I see some people using other tools on the steam forums like Skyrim ENB and some other stuff)
