Dead or Alive 5 Last Round PC Information is Finally out

It's pure laziness if they decided to use an outdated Arcade version when a more recent version exists using the same architecture.

They're also releasing Last Round in arcades... wouldn't be surprised if the "PC" version is actually just that build of the game. It would explain why it was only tested on Nvidia GPUs.

This whole process just sound unnecessarily complicated. What is the Arcade version of DOA5 even using? Sega Ring Edge2? I wouldn't think it would be Taito Type-X, I'd think Sega having some sort of relationship with Tecmo for the Virtua Fighter characters to be in DOA5 to begin with, so that is why I'm assuming it's the Ring Edge 2 hardware.

And my God, that Avatar. It's the butt monster from Muramasa.

I did my part.

Don't know anything about the arcade build of Last Round outside of them doing a location test that's mentioned in this famitsu article- http://www.famitsu.com/news/201502/01070674.html

and yes... a Shirime I am ;)

Until somedays ago, there was a message saying that only pre-orders before feb 17th would receive the bonuses.

Now:
"At launch, all pre-purchase customers will receive all rewards."

I don't know this some sort of damage control to deflect people from canceling their pre-orders and simply not bothering with the Steam release due to Tecmo opting to give a last-gen port rather then use the PS4 and XB1 versions as a base instead.

Removing the pre-order limit to everyone who pre-purchases is not going to be enough to fix this.

When you don't give a shit as a publisher and do a halfhearted attempt. Don't expect your audience to give a shit either.

Looking at the comparison videos I am not sure its worth all the fuss...
I mean yes, the skin looks better on the ps4 version but I am sure with a touch of reshade we can make some adjustments there.

The content part is a shame but should not be a deal breaker.
I'd be nice if the game was tad cheaper because of it though and mabe add this stuff in as a DLC so that players could get the same content in the end at the same price on all platforms.

As long as the thing runs decently and controls work they way they are supposed to, I fail to see the drama...

Why not just port the best version? In fact, the PC port should always be the best version, since there is really no limit to computation power. There's no excuse to porting PS3 assets instead of PS4 ones. It reeks of low-effort cash-grab and doesn't inspire confidence in the port at all.

They've been removing topics on the Steam community forum too, pretty funny shit.
I understand why they do it on the official board/facebook but why are the Steam board cleaned from topics about the bad port? Are too many cancelling their preorders that it becomes a problem for Steam/Valve too? It just seems even more like a scam now. Or are they planning on adding the missing stuff in a patch and don't want to have a bunch of complaining about stuff that soon won't matter?

Honestly, considering all the other things wrong with the port i start to question the basics as well. I'm not hard to please, i was even fine with the online play delay, but at some point one has to draw a line.

If i get it, it'll be on sale and i'll have working online too by then.

The game was broken as fuck on ps4 and xb1, expect worse here. Also, who knows how they'll deal with dlc, since this is based on the ps3 version and that's not getting all of the dlc.

Shit ports should always be a deal breaker, especially when this is just as much as the current generation versions without all of the content. If you don't see why this is a big deal, you are willfully trying not to.

I could deal with the initial announcemen of no online for 3 months. But after a delay and this outright deception of what port we were getting until they received a majority of the full price sales is freaking just disgusting I hope enough people get notified on time to give these send these guys a message.

It's funny how this game was delayed, but there is still a 3 month wait on online play. The single most important feature of a fighting game this day in age.

Finally got around to canceling my pre-order. Its a gip that Steam doesn't actually refund the money, but this port is such a joke I had to do it. In a year when it has online play and is $5 might be worth it. I can't support PC ports of this quality at launch though.

I dislike how on the English website version, they don't list "yawaraka engine" (the soft engine) but leave it blank but still an "X". It's like oh yea "woops" we left out our selling point for Last Round on PC.

It does not seem like a "mistake", that was a selling point for the PS4. Dammit koei tecmo, I wanted to give you my money for a PC DOA...but now I don't wanna.

They only release the PC specs after ~4 months of pre-orders building up. All of us watching that pre-order bar on steam go up with our preorder money. Baka KT is baka.

This is hilarious.

"Let's just delete the feature name, they won't notice"

I guess I missed this thread when it went up.

I can't even say I am surprised. I knew this was already fucking weird with the 3 month delay for online and I thought it would be a mediocre port but this is ridiculous.

This is just down right scummy.

another example of consoles holding PC back.

This shit is all KT's fault. Can't even blame Team Ninja for this either.

Seriously the people who say "B-but it's their first fighting game on PC" I don't care, its a fairly large company that has now put multiple games on PC. This is down right laziness. "But you can buy titiez, look at the boobs! [Hawthorne Kitty's avatar]" and you people can go fuck yourself to since that's all KT expects to sell to. I buy DoA as fighting game and always have. My favorite 3D fighting game franchise can't even get a decent PC version in 2015.

Yes, I didn't pre-order and I am still this mad.

Oh look they updated their English website a few days ago....now there isn't even an empty box or the "X" indicating something wasn't included in the steam version.

It's not about the soft engine being in; its about all these shady aspects piling up. Now including this one.

English website as of 3/25/15. Notice the lack of the soft engine box now. Your fans look at your website KT. Give us all the info straight up. I see nothing on the entire page to indicate that there is a lack of this feature on the page. And of course, all of the unsupported features are on located at the bottom. Tucked nicely all the way at the bottom. Can be seen with the link at the end of post.

English website as of 3/18/15. Note the use of checkmarks instead of circles, this is from the English site and not google translated from the JP one.

Japanese website as of 3/18/15. "やわらかエンジン" translates into yawaraka engine which is the soft engine. guess the guy wanted his claim to fame on this one. As of 3/25 it hasn't been modified and is just as it shown.

Below are the two websites I got the snippets from. I didn't take a full screenshot of the of page at the time because the soft engine was the only difference.

The official English site http://teamninja-studio.com/doa5/lastround/us/info_steam_spec.html
The official Japanese site http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/doa5/lastround/info_steam_spec.html

I want to make these 3 pics into one image and tweet it off to TK. Again this isn't about the lack of soft engine, its just another shady move they added to this port.

Well, this game will not be pre-ordered by me...I really love fighting games but I have to see what have they done with this one before getting it. Had really high expectations, now have 0 expectations...

I wonder if they even provide a demo or a core fighters pack type of thing.
Really worried.

If the eff it up and get shit sales its gonna be whining all over the place and no future pc versions. But if they eff it up but get great sales then they might be tempted to pull that shit again. Whats the winning formula here for us - consumers?

Wait for it to hit bargain bin, so we can get for like 10 € and so in the end the dev gets the sales numbers but not the profit?

lol, shovelware confirmed.

It really annoys me that unfortunately people will be duped into buying this without knowing its based on a version with 9 year old hardware and doesnt even have basic functionality like vibrate.

Junk like this gives PC gaming a bad name.

enjoy! http://teamninja-studio.com/doa5/lastround/us/info_faq_steam.html I'm also pretty sure you'll be able to choose only between 4 resolutions lol

Q9: Fullscreen mode displays strangely.
A9: Changing the display settings of your PC might help.
In the graphics settings of your OS, change the screen resolution to the same as the game's resolution.

What

Q2: Does the game support achievements?
A2: The game does not support achievements.

Damn

The funny thing is despite all these missteps I'd still prefer it over paying for online again lol

The game does not support Steam Cloud.
The game does not support achievements.
Currently the game only supports offline play.
One save data file for each Steam account.
The game currently does not support keyboard control customization.
Graphics options config in a launcher before start the game so no full controller support.

Everything about the game is really awesome, right?

I'm glad I caved and bought the PS4 version. I didn't cancel my PC version though since it is my preferred platform. Are they any comparison videos yet? I really like the skin shader on the PS4 version. I hope they didn't remove that in the PC version.

It's like they're purposefully minimize any possible sales

It's a C-O-N spiracy!

A threatening letter basically telling people not to mod the game and then an intentionally gimped version which is effectively a PS3 port with some Last Round minor additions thrown on top.

Tecmo is doing quite the job trying to establish itself in the PC gaming market.

They did.

Also missing stages.

As terrible as this port is, I do still wish it does well, if only to show more publishers that people want fighting games on PC. Though maybe that message has already been received and Tecmo and Namco are the only holdouts.

Wow... I got this cheap off Russia GAF, but in this state, it isn't even worth it. Only the mods could save this, but I'm not sure even they could at this point.

Jesus shit.
Tecmo is the worst.

I ain't even gonna say Tecmo/Koei, because Koei at least seems to have a grasp on what PC Gamers want. Tecmo is making the worst possible release so they'll never have to bother with the platform again.

This is a no-win situation for the gamers.

We cancell pre-orders, Tecmo spins it on gamers not buying and not adding further games to Steam.
We keep pre-orders, Tecmo takes it as they can release shit and people would buy it.
We mod it and Tecmo says "don't mess with the purity of my game" or something and uses it as a weird excuse to cut on future ports.

I'm keeping my pre-order but be sure I will mod the shit out of this game.
Steam friends be aware of a severe influx of NSFW screenshots on the following weeks >:(

I do want the game on PC. I'm less interested about costumes, achievements and such but having it look prettier and run well is something I would be looking at. The old engine is a poor choice but not truly a deal breaker, I'll still likely pick this up later because I enjoy DOA.

I'm waiting to see how performance goes, I'm skeptical at those recommended specs. I'd also like to hear how things are once Online hits. Honestly though, I am not hopeful for this game. The more I read about it the more disappointed I am. Seeing games I want dragged down by shitty practices is irritating.
