Two years after the destruction of the TriTower, headquarters and symbol of DOATEC...
Helena Douglas has begun the task of rebuilding DOATEC, this time with the aim of using its technology for peaceful ends. She has ordered the dissolution of the Biotechnology Division, the indefinite suspension of the Military Division's Projects Alpha, Epsilon and Omega, and the expulsion of all members of the Donovan faction from DOATEC's offices around the world.
Now in the same position once held by her father, DOATEC founder Fame Douglas, Helena has announced that she intends to hold the fifth Dead or Alive tournament, to show the world the principles and philosophies upholding the new DOATEC.

BASIC GAMEPLAY
Triangle System
The game uses a Triangle system where strikes beats throws, throws beat holds and holds beats strikes. Practice well and you’ll be doing a beautiful choreography online or offline.
Sidestep
A way to escape an attack from the opponent and have an opening for your attack learn how to properly use and you will have a nice advantage.
Holds
Right when your opponent throws a strike use a hold to deflect it and attack back for a lot of damage in one move.
Danger Zones
These are special parts found on most of the stages where If you knock the opponent against them it will cause heavy damage. To mention a few there are cars, Walls, tanks and even some floor areas are danger zones.
Cliffhangers
Newly introduced on DOA5. When you knock the opponent now they might be able to hold of the ledge before falling to the other tier of the stage. Here you can strike or Grab if you are at advantage and if you are the one in disadvantage block or counter.
Power Blows
Also new mechanic introduced in DOA5. Power Blows is a powerful move that lets you set the direction to blow away your opponent. Aim left or right towards the area you want to blow that character away. Want to knock them out of the stage? Go ahead! Want to knock them into a Danger Zone? Just do it! The move is slow so you need to know how to set up in order to use it properly. Power blows can only be used when you are at 50% life or lower (Signified by your life bar flashing red)
CRITICAL SYSTEM
Critical Stuns
By landing specific moves, you can put your opponent into a Critical Stun state. The opponents on this state can’t block but they are still able to perform holds.
Critical Combos
Strike the opponent while they are in a Critical Stun state. Here you can prolong the amount of time they will be remained stunned. You can attack with various moves but there is a limit of damage that can be inflicted by Critical Combos. If you reach the limit of damage you will not be able to land additional attacks.
Critical Burst
By landing a specific strike that takes you over the damage limit of a critical combo you will be able to cause a Critical Burst. This will leave the opponent completely defenseless and open to land juggling combos, Power Blows or other high-impact moves.
