Deadlock |OT|

quite frankly, it's just boring.

while it draws heavily from games like Dota, it does not have the complex systems involved and technical / rpg elements at the very least interesting team fights that keep it exciting to play. Most of the time it's just a spam fest and once one team gets even slightly ahead it's an absolute slog to come back as the underdog.

I think it has it's niche and potential. right now it's still in close beta (alpha?) stage anyway. still plenty of room to refine the matches and map and characters. once it gets a big enough roster and out in public, I think it'll do pretty well. not going to be for everyone but hopefully it'll find a good number of audience and keep it going.

This latest update got me to reinstall.

Map is much better. Store too. Visuals have been improved a lot. Liking a lot of the new characters. The hideout is cool and has lots of potential.

Going to watch some videos on current meta and play flow before hopping into a few games tomorrow.

Updated. Played about 170 hours previous but I found as the player count went down, you were teamed with generally higher level players who expected more, which I couldn't give, so dropped it for a while. It was definitely fun for a while there though. Update has really gone to town. Looks absolutely stunning. May set some time aside this coming weekend to get back into it.

Sorry but how do you install this, all I see is add to wishlist on steam page?

currently, the game is still in a close testing state. you will need to get an invite from a friend who's already in the testing and then wait for Valve to let you in the game. let me know if you need an invite. I can friend you and send you one.

I'm a VERY new MOBA player and have about 50 hours in Predecessor. Never played Dota, League, etc. I've been in the playtest for months now but only played a few matches where I was still confused as all hell in terms of how to play whatever lane I was supposed to be in, what upgrades to choose for character, when to push up, etc. I did the tutorial in game too. Are there any good videos or guides for someone new like me for this game?

there are not a lot of channels on Youtube covering this game yet since it's still in close testing stage, but I'll dig up a few later on for you.

as for learning, if you have time to kill, just go watch a few matches and look at how others play and what they buy. that's one of the best way to learn. either that or play against bots and try things out.

here are some videos that might help new players. but keep in mind some of the information might be outdated since the game had gone through a lot of changes in the last 6+ months in regards to the map and heros. but I believe most of these would still be useful since they're more fundamental knowledge.

Aside from the tutorial, the in game shop lets you select from upvoted builds that players have put together. This lets you easily follow the meta by just going to browse and picking one of the top 3 for your character to try.

The overall objective is easy, kill enemies, kill the minions, take the larger minions out, and push your lane up until you get to their base before they get to yours. Level up, build your character up, participate in team fights, and constantly try to farm minions to out level opponents.

The best way to learn a moba is just to play non stop for a couple hundred hours. Learn what characters do, how to avoid it, what synergies work together, etc. Watch someone good at the game play on YT with a character you like, watch guides on those characters too.

There is no shortcut. The meme in dota 2 is the first 1000 hours is the tutorial… except that's not a meme. It is true. The same for league.

The good news is once you learn one moba you can then easily jump into others.

Last bits of info:
-Do not engage with other players verbally or via typing. Either pre mute before queue or mute the second someone is toxic. DO NOT respond to them. You will tilt them immediately and they will throw the game.
-There is no reward the more and more you play. These games are best as you're learning, low elo, and having a close fought win. Once you play enough even if you win you feel like you lost. MOBAs are the biggest waste of your time in gaming.

sadly this is very true. just have fun and enjoy it as much as possible and don't worry about the win/loss and you'll be fine.

It's enticing to return, at the same time I'm not sure I'm ready for a sweatfest. Haven't played for a while now, so feels like I'm rusty going against very good players and teammates who expect me to be very good.
