Dear GAF: Why didn't you warn me that Mr. and Mrs. Smith was crap?

I rely on you for all my movie reviews. Batman Begins was a great movie, I wouldn't have seen it without your advice.

So, I thought it would be a good idea to see this movie. Maybe it would be like 'Bourne Supremecy" with a married couple. I had heard some favorable things about it and really haven't heard anyone say it was bad. Good summer flick, right?

NO.

It was fucking Charlie's Angels 2 with a 'married' couple. But it was even worse than that considering you had two A-list celebrities in the movie with zero chemistry.

Remember 'War of the Roses'? That great Micheal Douglas movie where the couple tear each other apart and tear down thier beautiful house at the same time? This movie tries to rip that off, and fails miserably. Then after you think the movie is winding down, they tack on a rediculous "us against the world" shootout in a grocery store. Almost harkens back to the Joel Schumacher idea of "My movie sucks, so I will keep blowing shit up until you become numb" theory of movie making.

Garbage movie. Rent it to see Angelina Jolie in a dominatrix outfit and Vince Vaughn being awesome as usual.

i understand the beefs with the action scenes and all that, but how can ANYONE come from that theater and say that they didn't have chemistry? they had chemistry everywhere. If they DIDNT have chemistry, the movie wouldn't have been nearly as successful as it has been.

Ghost

Chili Con Carnage!
That zero chemistry couple are apparently having a baby together.

Just thought id drop that here.

And i thought the movie was ok, I thought Pitt & Jolie dealing with normal marriage issues while beating of hordes of attackers was pretty entertaining.

yeah, the chemistry was oozing off the screen all over the people in the front row.

Not so much Charlie Angels as Oceans 11. Lots of style + charisma and almost no substance.

Great popcorn movie, thankyouverymuch.

I agree. Stop your crying, because you can't have sex with Brad Pitt. =P

Yeah I thought it sucked too. The pacing was horrible (boring) and the action wasn't even that good. There were a few laughs here and there, but overall it was a disappointment.

Yea, it probably should've happened too. I couldn't stop laughing when
they were dogding ROCKETS. I was like, WTF :lol They also managed to kill all of the assasins with barely a clue as to where they were in the room. I could go on for hours about how unrealistic that scene was, but hell, the whole movie was completely unrealistic, so I just sat back, relaxed and enjoyed it.

I liked the movie. I wasn't expecting it to be so good, I had terribly low expectations and I enjoyed it a lot.

I thought it was pretty fun. :\ The ending was a bit too drawn out -- the movie could have been 15 minutes shorter, but it's a solid popcorn flick and Brad Pitt is hilarious in it. Plus Jolie looks gorgeous the entire time and typically I'm not a huge fan of hers.

I would have liked the movie if it didn't have those hyper-surreal comic book moments like the above mentioned. Another small annoyance was the car chase
where they shoot 10 million bullets into that mini-van, but never think to shoot out the tires
I know it is nitpicky, but there were at least a two dozen moments like that throughout the movie.

The action scenes were all very Mtv-like. It really reminded me of watching Charlies Angels 2. Oh well.

It was a movie about 2 ASSASINS who were married to each other and didnt know! how the fuck were you expecting it to be realistic?

the action was way better than batman begins and not even close to being as stupid and charlies angels 2.

Dear ToxicAdam,
For the same reasons that we don't tell people getting kicked in the nuts hurts. Some things are just a given.

Ya, I know. But every summer there is a good "dumb, summer movie" that I thoroughly enjoy. I was hoping this would be it.

Movies, in general, have been in such a rut that people now celebrate the below average movies as good or fun. Oh well.

Throw me in the, fun popcorn flick camp. That said, it could've stood to have more exposition and less action... some of the latter scenes were really... typically hollywood I guess.... whatever that is; catering to the lowest common denominator, failure to understand that holding back sometimes is much more, or whatever.

Which is precisely why I'm definitely not going to see it. For 10 fucking dollars, you better give me substance these days.

Good comedy and good action. The guy getting pulled through the minivan and under the wheels of the car was amazing. Brad and Angelina were aces together. I don't really get what isn't to like.
