First tragedy, then farce.
Ok, so about 2 weeks ago I applied for a Line of Credit for overdraft protection with them. I was declined because they couldnt verify my address or my employer (despite my FICO score being a 715... a 715! and they wont give me a 200 dollar credit limit)... which is really stupid because they dont seem to have a problem mailing statements to that address..

In order to apply for my overdraft line of credit they had to turn off my current form of overdraft protection.. which was my savings account. My Savings account has about 11K dollars in it right now that I am saving up for a downpayment on a house... when I am declined for the Overdraft line of credit they never turned this transfer protection from my savings account back on.

Fast forward to today where they are trying to make me pay 800 dollars in overdraft fees because the fucktards screwed up my account. So, I call their phonebank and tell them the situation. They can see what happened and even agree with me, but wont give me my money back because I have to go to the branch that fucked up to get it fixed... which isnt open until MONDAY.

My checking account is currently overdrawn and I dont have access to my savings account until monday morning, so I now have no money for the entire weekend.. how in the fuck can they tell me that they fucked up, and agree that they owe me my money but still not give it to me? Im closing my account with them as soon as I get my money back.

I wish I can tell you the best part of this entire story, but I cant less I be tracked down and this get back to me.. but dont bank with Washington Mutual...

Edit: and it apears I too am a retard :( Self own3d.

Washington Mutual Rep: "But at least we know which forum to post stuff in!"

You know, more and more I come to realize that bad customer service experiences are caused by stupid policies, rules, or system limitations, rather than poor service on the part of the service reps.

So true, part of the reason I'm so mellow when it comes to dealing with mistakes by my bank or the payroll department or whatever. Drives my wife nuts, she's a big fan of losing her shit and getting bitchy at whatever poor slob is on the phone unable to fix a problem. I just find getting angry so pointless and almost demeaning to both sides, and I can almost always sympathize with the service rep since I know what that side is like too.
