I'm sad to hear that Glory is selling incredibly poorly.

You guys need to help my brahs Joe Keating and Ross Campbell out and buy Glory!

The stank of Liefeld is keeping retailers away from ordering it, and it's a really damn good book! >:|
 
So, not exactly current comics, but I'm looking to get a Christmas gift for a friend, and I was thinking maybe the first new 52 Batwoman. Is it good? He has the pre-new 52 Batwoman trade and enjoyed it, so I thought maybe this'd be a good idea.

Alternatively, any suggestions? He has most of the big Batman trades (Dark Knight, Year One, Long Halloween, Hush, etc), and has enjoyed stuff like All Star Superman. Maybe something Powergirl? Is there any particularly good trade for her?

Batman: Thrillkiller

This is one of my favorite Elseworld's Bat stories and it puts a female lead twist on the mythology and is just plain fantastic.

Sadly it's back out of print again, but used copies aren't unreasonable on Amazon.

You might be able to find a better price shopping around.

New 52 Batwoman is totally fucking awesome, definitely get it for him.

I really like the 2009 Power Girl series, here's the first trade. The first and second trades are particularly great and the rest is still okay. Here's the second one.

I expect there will be at least one offhand comment about why it worked since in the previous panel Wolverine was about to say it isn't supposed to work. And agreed, good issue. The development of past X-Men's reactions to Hank and the future was nicely written.

That said, I cannot deny the smangability of Darth Talon.

Though I've always had a soft spot for Twileks ever since Oola's titty popped out in Return of the Jedi. Oola > Slave Leia.

Got the first trade, really great stuff. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. That and prophet should be checked out by everyone

I started both at the same time but stopped Glory just because Prophet was running so many rings around it. I'll probably catch up with G during a sale or some such.

Yeah, Glory delivers.

Sadly Prophet isn't for me.

It's trying to channel the spirit of Heavy Metal / Metal Hurlant; but sans to most crucial benefit of the European comics - fantastic art. The art on Prophet just doesn't float my boat and the writing. . . yeah.

Feels more like stream of consciousness ramblings than anything coherent.

That said would there be any parties interested in an Image Comics 2012 sample pack - $30 shipped:

Get New 52 Batwoman, but only the first trade/HC. When J H Williams isn't drawing it, it's just not close to the same. Skip the 2nd trade and wait for the phenomenal 3rd trade that is coming next year.

I always have mixed reactions about DH Star Wars. I like the fact that they do mostly miniseries so no commitment to an ongoing, but a lot is low quality and samey. For every good mini there's plenty of mediocre ones.

There isn't a lot of sci-fi choice but we're starting to see other companies make some damn fine sci-fi so Dark Horse needs to step up their game and make their Star Wars stuff better. A focus on quality instead of quantity would be my preference, but that's not exactly a money-making strategy for DH.

I have the Morrison Batman and Robin trades and the first volume of Batman Inc. sitting here. They've been sitting here for weeks. Just can't bring myself to read them for whatever reason.

The 100 plus ages on CBR are hilarious for Avengers Arena. I don't know ow this Songbird/Damondback poster gets out of bad each morning.

If it does though....that's neat too. I enjoy books where Marvel doesn't know what to do with characters so they just have them kill each other.
