So being that I loved Steins;Gate (one of my favorite sci-fi stories of all times), liked Danganronpa, Ace Attorney and 999/VLR, disliked Fruits of Grisaia and thought that Chi Dengeki Stryker on Steam was meh, where would this fit in?

muv luv extra/chapter 1 is like a harem anime aka the odd piece of the trilogy but still needed for maximum effect of chapter 2 and 3 which is basically OH SHIT (with sci-fi) I'll always recommend this title, but i tell everyone that extra is definitely the weakest of the three. Unlimited and Alternative are the key story points.

If you like the themes presented in Uchikoshi stories and one of the central themes of Stein's;Gate, you will probably love this.

Well, wasn't too thrilled with Chaos;Head and Robotic;Notes anime, but loved everything about Steins; Gate, including time travel theory and attention to actual science and details.

Well, when I mention Uchikoshi I'm referring to his works like Ever17, 999 and VLR.

Between all the shmups and Muv-Luv, I'm really liking Degica right now.

Don't forget Remember11, which I'd argue is probably the best in the entire Infinity series.

Ahh. Never played Ever17, but did like 999 and VLR (Steins;Gate had better story and science, IMO). Hell, going to pledge $100, seems to be the best tier.

Well, I brought up Ever17 for a reason. It's the most well-known in the West. Not many VNs get physical releases outside of Japan.

I understand that. And to be honest, I really did enjoy Ever17, though I still enjoy Remember11 that much more. Shame the game was released unfinished tho.

Back in the day I remember people calling it the "Evangelion" of visual novels. Is there some truth to that or was just hyperbole?

MLA is kind of overrated in my personal opinion, but if there was ever a visual novel that was worth calling the "Evangelion" of visual novels, this would be it. Eva is kind of overrated too, so it works out in the end!

Note: I still love MLA, but it ain't perfect.

Lol, nicely put.

I'm kind of curious about this, but hearing from people in the know that the translation likely to be used here is pretty bad, I'm rather wary.

The original translation is average. It's not bad. I am assuming that it'll be cleaned up a bit before release, but there is absolutely nothing glaringly wrong with it.

Degica is being really evasive about what they are even doing with the translation. We don't even know if they are using Ixrec's script. They've been talking about using a native Japanese translator and then having it edited by fan groups, which is hardly encouraging either.

Hopefully once this initial surge is over Degica will bother to actually tell us their plans with more than vague generalizations.

One question, for the KS $150 pledge,

【Muv-Luv Trilogy Collector's Box】

Note: Pledging 150$ or above gets you ALL of the digital stretch goal items for free when they’re unlocked.

Does it mean that i will get the download code for the trilogy?

I paid good money for this Dynex!

Yeah, isn't the digital version of the games listed under the $150 tier? As far as I know, you get both.

Gonna back this, but anyone know if I opt into the $100 tier, will I get a physical copy of the vita version assuming it hits the stretch goal?

Oh you're gonna love Muv Luv: Alternative then.

Yeah, with the way they've been going about this i'm thinking they will use ixrec's script as a base and work off from there. But who knows, the second option doesnt sound much better like you said.

They'll probably confirm and give the option of a Vita tier whenever they hit the stretch goal.

Sweet, locking into the $100 tier then!

I hate Evangelion, but absolutely love this, so take it as you will. There are definitely some comparisons between the two though.

150 reward tier looks amazing. Hitting the last stretch goal doesn't seem likely but I'll pray.

People who liked Steins;Gate will love MLA (especially if it's the all-ages version). It's an amazing story

By the way, they're showing pillowcases, but are those actual pillows (as shown in the pictures) or are they proper dakimakura covers? It seems a little disingenuous to make a big deal out of those if they're just regular-ass pillows.

I wonder if they're being intentionally vague because of what happened to the Grisaia Kickstarter.

Alternative with all its mech stuff makes me hope we can get the other really big mech VNs. I'm of course, talking about GIGA's Baldr Sky series. One can only dream. :( My avatar in fact, is from that series. :p

I've been super interested in Baldr Sky after finishing Muv Luv, but don't think there's any translations for it. Hopefully if MLA does great enough we might get a Baldr Sky KS.

I can dream too ._.

There are translations, but they're in Chinese. :p

In for $150, but I might go in for the $50 goodie bag if it looks like they need an extra push for the Vita stretch goal.

Now bring on Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and Akane Maniax.

Well, I'm happy to be wrong. I didn't think there'd be much support for VNs on Kickstarter.

This is pretty cool, guys.

I'm shocked this Kickerstarter succeeded, much less in one day. Didn't know there were that many Muv-Luv fans out there. Heard good things about this VN, so I'm glad to see it's successful.

Done and done, backed at the $100 level. Speaking of ever 17, is that available for actual purchase anywhere? All I see is old physical copies which are seemingly crazy expensive or let's say alternate means.

As far as Evangelion comparison, love Evangelion (hate the MC) so cross of Evangelion and Steins;Gate would be quite cool. This is the 2nd VN I backed on GAF recommendation after Clannad, hope both turn out to be good.

I said it already, but have you watched Starship Troopers or any Gundam? You might as well mix those two in with both of those things.

Love Starship Troopers (book and movie, for different reasons), love Macross, probably watched majority of decent mech anime. For Gundam, I really like some of the series, dislike a few others, and have played whole bunch of Gundam (and some Macross) video games across multiple consoles.

Edit: However what really got me into VNs (well, kind of since I only played a few) was how unbelievably great Steins;Gate was in terms of its story and most of the characters. Watched the anime series (bought Blu-Ray), bought PC and Vita copies, watched the movie, read through bunch of supplementary materials. Hell, I would import Steins;Gate 0 if only the thought of trying to understand Kanji in that setting makes my head hurt.

Guys, don't count on the option of choosing a Vita physical version if you choose a physical copy, or even a separate physical Vita tier. Chances are it'll be digital-only, unless otherwise stated by Degica.

Fair enough. I think you're really going to like this, then. There's homages to a couple songs, like the Klendathu Drop from Starship Troopers and Gunbuster, in the soundtrack.
