Delay a favorite game ending?

Have you ever done it? You are playing a game that you are almost living and oopps i think i'm reaching the end :(

A strange feeling that let you try everything to delay the end

With the extra long titles released today i think this is a extra rare behaviour now, or i'm wrong?

I did it in my two favorite games this year, E33 and Silksong.

RDR
RDR 2
Shenmue 2
MGS Rising
Cronos the new Dawn
Shadow of the Colossus
TLOU2 (laugh all you want 😁)
MGS 3
The Last Guardian
Alien Isolation
The Last Faith
Ghost Song

I used to more often. Nowadays, developers pad their games out to hit a playtime goal so much, it's very rare I'm not ready for it to be over well before the end.

...Ghost Song
This one the game itself did for me, as the last bosses were extra challenging;
being more skilled into it, surely, as i liked a lot too

i like when the games informs you about the 'point of no return', like big jrpg;
perhaps should be mandatory, i remember in The Last Remnant the messages, before changing the first to second gamedisk (as you could miss a lot of side quests), and before the final mission (main story), same reason

The Last Guardian, Braid... and maybe MGS2?

and yes, these day's it's rare to feel like it's over too soon. a lot of games now overstay their welcome a bit.

Yes, one of the recent examples would be LaD Infinite Wealth, not only because I loved spending time in Hawaii (and Yakuza games always deliver with optional activities), but also because of Kiryu's story.

>quest Meet Hanako at Embers.
>no thanks, I need to chill with Panam in every apartment for another 50 hours.
Hah, I put off the end for soooo long. I did every single quest and police report. Basically, I had nothing left to do, so I finally had to suck it up and end it. I did do like 6 different ending variations. Only, for me, I went with Judy and not Panam. My save file game clock ended with somewhere around 145 hours, but I noticed it would reset every time I would load back up that point of no return. I'm curious to see the myNintendo end of year report to find out how long I actually spent in the game.

My actual game that I put off for as long as possible was Xenoblade 3. I mastered all the jobs with every character, so that took some time. The bigger thing was actually the Future Redeemed DLC. It was pure fan service awesomeness that I didn't want to end, so I was really sad that I had reached the story end at 27 hours, so I spent another 13+ hours fighting super bosses and collecting all the best equipment before the journey had to end.

I'm not trying to judge, but what was it about Braid? My friend got it the day it came out, but we burned through it in about 2 or 3 hours. How exactly do you delay the ending of such a short game?

I'm not dissing the game; I actually really liked it, so maybe I should grab that anniversary edition that was released recently.

We're gooning games now?

Anyway, personally, no. I'll get to the ending pretty much as soon as one is available/feasible. If I like the game well enough, I'll replay it later with a more completionist mindset (as in, doing most of the content, not having a fake charity).

I mean yeah, if i like a game i do every sidecontent to prolong the fun as much as i can.

That's one of the reasons why i love open worlds.

Final Fantasy XII. Didn't want it to end. Especially now knowing its been years - and its the last game set in Ivalice.

Happens alot with JRPGs ive spent alot of time in. All that character building - intricate job leveling - and then its just...over.
