Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Most important question ever...

Do those custom emotes come with the neon "air painting" that they display when you demo view them?

First story mission on Io:
Its weird that no on the else is really interested in how the player character got his or her Light back.

Yeah... this is the one thing I'll critique the campaign for.

You being the ONLY Guardian that got their light back really doesn't work when you visit the farm.

Looks like I'll be doing an offline single player game tonight. I was hoping to get through a good chunk of the D2 campaign. Unless PSN miraculously gets fixed within the next hour.

They spend a lot of dialogue establishing that the Traveler acts very freely. So there's really no explanation to be had, I guess. I guess everyone just assumes the Traveler really likes you.

Goddamn game hit sub 10 fps today in Titan when the Fallen Walker public event turned into a heroic. This Xbox version doesn't feel optimized at all compared to the Pro. Can't wait for the X.

Mario + Rabbids I assume? That's what I'll be doing if I can't get back in tonight.

Sony need to reset their router.

Is it just me or D2 have more obvious glitches and bugs than D1?

I encountered:

Hawthorne's eagle have a seizure when in Hawthorne menu sceen.

First time I started Titan story arc I was loaded into the zone interior instead of outside and there is no way to trigger enemies or doors.

Some enemies having seizure when moving around

I just hit level 7 and I'm starting to regret buying it I think. I thought D1 was good, but I guess I wasn't crazy about it. I bought into the hype for D2 and am getting the same vibes. The raid made the first game worth it for me so maybe I'll stick it out for that. Campaign seems on the level of something like Halo also, big step up from the first game, but I guess it doesn't wow or surprise me so far. Beautiful game though.

I've run into scripting errors and enemies not appearing for some people on my team. Definitely buggy.

Yeah, I had the eagle seizure happen as well.
Also, at some point, the last enemy for and adventure was completely passive and invincible. Went up close and personal to check out the model.
Had to restart the mission.

I know that the game resets characters/gear and stuff, starting everyone over from scratch more or less, but is there any kind of "legacy" bonuses or any connection whatsoever to Destiny 1 over to Destiny 2 if you're playing the sequel on the same platform? IE if I played Destiny 1 on PS4 but end up going PC for Destiny 2, am I missing out on any type of account transfer?

Completed the main story.

Overall much MUCH better than anything before it. My biggest issue isn't with the quality of the missions, the writing, or VO... It's once again the length. I liked Ghaul as a villain but I wish the Red War went on for longer so we got to see more development on his end. I also wish we got more main story missions on the other planets. That last fight was really epic.

ALSO THAT POST-CREDIT SCENE. O.O

Nice! I thought it would be like D1, having 25,000 was ridiculous to begin with.

You can't go over 99,999+ though, all that Glimmer is lost or I need to spend it on cheap blue gear and break it down hopefully for Gunsmith Rep

See if the + really matters

After a full day of playing, I can definitely say its certainly better than D1 at launch. The most notable improvement is definitely the story, in that there is actually one. Not to mention that incredibly powerful opening. Never would have expected to see that sort of thing from Bungie. The story missions are overall nice, but nothing too impressive from what I've played so far. There is some platforming and cool environments, but it's far from being as elaborate as, say, Halo. I was hoping for something along those lines when imagining an improved Destiny experience brought to you by a sequel.

Currently, I've hit my first moments of boredom when I began to explore Titan on Patrol (is it still called that?). Terribly dull environment to explore, with one of the adventures being D1 levels of dogshit in terms of backtracking the same linear area a story mission already took me through. The enemies being stupidly easier don't make things any more fun either.

Platform?

Yeah, it's taking minutes to match me on PS4 Pro, little disappointing considering how snappy D1 was even 3 years after release.

The difficulty is absolutely dog shit. That is my only complaint. This is the only AAA game in the past decade without multiple difficulties? They better put heroic or hard mode campaign in soon, but I would have loved to play through the first time as a "veteran" Destiny player.

Watched two reviews. The enemy AI looks non existent in this game.

Is this the case throughout the game?

I haven't reached the endgame where I'd imagine they're more difficult, but so far when playing through the story missions, they're pretty fucking dumb.

I played until I unlocked Titan area, so like 5 missions?
I'm not far yet but my initial impression is that it feels a lot like a big expansion, better story that's sure.

Destiny/D2 both fall for the MMO trope of increasing difficulty by simply adding more spongy enemies. If you take it with a grain of salt and just assume the difficulty comes from creative ways to burn enemies, then it's enjoyable enough.

They just seem to throw a lot more enemies at you and kind of brute force it. However, I have seen a bunch run and hide when their health gets low.

The AI have actually been pretty smart in my game. Notably actually. Was aiming down the sights on a Dreg and it looked and moved out of the way. Another one was actually pretty awesome. I went to shoot a grenade at a Knight and it shielded. The nade bounced back and hit me for lots of damage.

Unrelated impression: man, for a story about the cabal they really aren't very abundant lol I did JUST get to
Nessus
but still. Lol

Destiny AI isn't some crazy new thing

They've been like that since Destiny Alpha

I do like their more aggressive now and have different tactics of Flanking when they're in a group, but if spread out, yeah shooting fish in a barrel syndrome

I have to commend the designer that gave those Vandals that demon walk of putting themselves low floor and burst speeding like something out of a Horror film

First time it happened my ass puckered up, like the fuck is this!

The HVT Vandals do it the best!
