Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

I'm pretty sure I'm heading into the final campaign mission and I'm only level 13. I've played some Crucible and done several public events as well. Is this normal? I was hoping to be 20 or close to 20 by the end of the campaign but I don't see that happening.

Ah, you are still early! Once you start getting blue rare engrams as rewards hang on to the blue scout rifles (doesn't matter if they are kinetic or energy) - you'll need them to complete the Mida Multi Tool quest.
Oh damn, wish I had known this earlier. Thanks for the head's up

if you just do the main campaign missions and not of the adventures, probably

You can't select the final stretch of missions until you're level 15. There's a small stretch around 10 where you typically need to grind a bit and one just before 15. This is normal. Just about everyone is finishing at level 20 around power level 200, just doing the story and a few pub events if you see them.

I'm at 254 light and the grind is really starting to get to me.

I appreciate the work they put into public events, but when grinding them is the best way to do raise your light level, you end up playing them so much that you sick of them regardless of quality. I know this is more on me for wanting to be raid ready, but I feel like the experience would be much more enjoyable if they would have made the raid a couple of weeks later.

I haven't been able to follow along in this thread, so I'll ask a question that may have been covered before. I know there's been a lot of controversy about the Eververse in Destiny 2, but how do folks playing feel about the changes to how it works?

Specifically, I'd like to know how ya'll feel about the decision to only allow the purchase of Bright Engrams which are the same as those earned via playing the game.

Personally, I welcome that approach as it makes me feel like I don't need to spend any extra money to get the loot I want. I didn't like knowing that I was missing some neat emotes in Destiny 1 because they weren't attainable via gameplay. I'm genuinely curious to see what people think of this as I feel like the conversation has been based around micro-transactions and how people feel about those in general.

Edit: Sorry if this sounds a bit like PR/Marketing research, it's not. I do not work in the gaming industry.

Thanks for the tip, man! Will do.

Am I the only one that dislikes scout rifles in this game? Granted I've only been using blues and greens but I've hated every single one I've come across.

I'm not a huge fan of a lot of them. The RPM on each gun dictates how fast it fires, duh, but is inversely porprortional to the damage it does. Most scouts are 200 RPM, which I don't like the feel of. I like harder hitting scouts generally, because it feels bad to not kill a dreg in 1 headshot.

Here are good hard hitting blues:
150 RPM - Trax Lysis II
180 RPM - Armillary PSu

I do like 2 of the faster firing ones.
200RPM - Madrugada SR2 (this is the same as Hung Jury/ Tounela in D1, just not as stable. Fingers crossed there's a good legendary version.
260RPM - Black Tiger-2sr This is so fast as to be nearly an autorifle and comes with a very fast reload. I like it.

Have you done all the Lost Sectors? They give blues and are very fast.
Have you done all the golden Zone chests? They give 3-4x tokens which are a great way to level up and get legendaries which are better rewards that public events.
Have you done the Adventures? They give great rewards as a combo of tokens and gear.

And nobody is talking about strikes, but they're good too.

This is the most diverse the leveling path has ever been in Destiny, so enjoy that variety.

Got wardcliff coil and it's kinda fun for patrol but sucks for anything at distance and doesn't really do that good boss or major damage even when closer up. Really thought this would be the new ghally but it really needs auto tracking.

Wow. I am 259 (a hair away from 260) and I haven't done anything that felt like grinding. I have just cruised around getting Lost Sectors, region chests, and public events as they happen, as well as ranking up factions. It's happened so fast and easily, that it's never felt like a grind at all for me. Might just have the RNG gods on my side for once, though!

I don't think there will be anything Gjally tier this time round. I am buying whatever Xur sells in his first week sight unseen though just in case!

Yeah. I've been doing all of those things. I've probably done around nine-ten strikes, and I hit lost sectors up to break up the monotony of chasing public events. I think there is plenty to do, but the power grinding has me burnt out a bit on all of it. This won't be a problem after this weekend when we get raid and trials and a reset of all the power engram events.

It doesn't help that I will be out of town this weekend for a wedding, and I'm rushing to try to make up for lost time.

Cost is is different per shader.

Armour
Common - 250
Rare - 250
Legendary - 750

Weapons
Common - 1250
Rare - 1250
Legendary 3750

Ghost
Common 500
Rare 500
Legendary 1500

I don't know if exotic shaders exist?
Doing your ship though is like 20,000 :o
Can't wait for someone or a group of people to create the website where you can color customize your Guardian/Weapon/Ship/Sparrow without having to spend a single piece of glimmer just to experiment.

Got my DGAF Xbox clan tag, woot!

I'm currently at 199 strength. So rule of thumb is to save bright engrams until I reach around 260?

Am I ok to decrypt legendary engrams? They're already telling me the power so I assume it doesn't scale it doesn't change the higher I get.

Why? They're mostly cosmetic shaders and low level mods that you can buy at the gunsmith. Feel free to open them whenever you go back. Really want an exotic sparrow. Seen lots of people riding the, and the particle effects and really cool.

And yeah open legendary and exotic engrams as soon as you get them cos the power level is already decided when they drop.

don't see why bright engrams would scale with your light. you're pretty much free to open all engrams since their value is determined when they drop not when you decrypt

Ah ok thanks. I was level 9 at the point where I was restricted to level 11+, now I'm 13 and restricted to 15+. I swear I've done several public events and a bunch of crucible. I just feel like I'm leveling was slower than I should be. So now I have to grind through another 2 levels to get back to the story. Wtf is up with this level pacing??

that's like 2 side story missions not really a grind

I bought 5$ of silver but nothing appeared In game. What can I do ?

Not sure if you figured it out yet, but you have to wait till you hit 20/finish the campaign. then go to the eververse npc.

Was Xur available this weekend? Im not at 20 yet, just curious.

Did a couple curcible matches and man im going to have to wait awhile before I go back. People have no idea what the objectives are or just dont care and ive failed too many because of it. The one where you have to pick up the item to earn the point after killing someone is so frustrating when your team has no idea lol. Ive seen teammates just running past the items all over the place.

I was level 20 before I was halfway through the story. Are you just doing story missions? Go explore some; do public events, find lost sectors and other things in patrol? You can hit 20 REALLY easily because there are so many activities.

As stated, I have participated in several public events and crucible. I'm beginning to wonder if my account us bugged or something. The leveling is just so much slower than everyone else is reporting.

I would second strikes as a good method for gearing up as well! Not only do you get blue weapons and armor to level up, but the vanguard token and gunsmith materials give you pretty decent venues for legendary from Zavala and the Gunsmith (roughly 1 level every 4 strikes?)

i only just got to lvl 20 (205) and i'm back at the farm after Io. did all the adventures in EDZ and Titan. Got 2 left in Nessus and not even started anything in Io yet.

did 2 Lost sectors. opened a few chests and did a handful of public events.

still got a few campaign missions left and once that's out the way i'll focus on lvling my power up by focusing on strikes, public events, lost sectors, etc.

Anything I can do to increase my chance of exotic drops?

Haven't had a single one

I hear you can get them from doing heroic version of public events on designated flashpoint planets. One of my buddies also mentioned that you can get a few, predetermined ones through quest chains.

Been using my shaders quite a bit to make my dude a bit more colorful than the generic grimy looking characters. I can see how annoying it is when you don't have enough for the full body set of armor.

Exotics will come in time. But there will be certain exotics that are valued about all else, and those are the ones that are a bitch to get.

Ballerhorn, Hawkmoon, etc. from D1 fit this bill.

Hm, I just got an exotic engram but I'm level like 12. Is it going to be shit

I think you can hang on to exotics and they will level with you - someone posted that a while back. You can also preview what could be in the exotics.

Edit: to be clear that's just the engrams, not the weapons / armor that level up, although you can always infuse.
