Are story missions a one and done kind of thing in Destiny or can you replay them at a higher difficulty (with others)?

Yes you can replay story missions.
Also, destiny 1 had a random mission as the Daily. With harder enemies and modifiers.
I assume Daily missions are coming back.

So I just spent a few hours on the beta, and I have questions:

1) Do characters get abilities beyond their super and their V skill thingy? Like, more activated abilities.
2) Do you only get loot at the end of each mission? no drops or anything like that?
3) I accidentally right clicked on a weapon and there was a screen with mods and colors and bits! There's an Infuse option: does that mean I can keep my favourite weapon by just infusing it over and over until it's the highest item level there is?
4) The strike/raid/dungeon thingy felt pretty hard. Only did it 3 times, but boy did I see a lot of randoms die over and over and over.
5) Does the game have some kind of transmog system for ugly armor?

1) Only active abilities are super, melee, grenade and class ability. There is modifiers to them through passives in skill trees of sub-classes. Also exotic armor can have perks that alter how skills work.
2) In beta that is only source of loot. In full release you will get loot from chests, as drops from enemies and from completing more "minor" content like public events.
3) Yes, it's very likely scenario with infusion. Also you can change weapons element (kinetic, arc, void...) by swapping that particular mod. Also shaders.
4) And that was normal difficulty...
5) By what we know, no. Which makes me sad panda as I want FashionD.

1- There are perks you get from exotics that can change your playstyle in some ways

2 - You get loot from Engrams that allows to decrypt gear (It ranges from Rare to Exotic) and they often drop from enemies

3 - From Luke Smith's latest Q&A on Youtube, he confirmed that you can change your energy weapon's element using weapon mods. As for infuse, it allows you to dismantle a more powerful weapon/armor so you can infuse its attack/defense of the weapon/armor you are equipped with.

5 - Infusion is somewhat like that. You have a favorite armor piece you wanna keep using it, but you don't want to replace it with a more powerful but ugly armor piece, so you dismantle the latter for infusion

Excellent. Then I think I'm sold on the PC version. Runs like silk, latency is great, shooting feels decent and I only fell to my death 8 or 9 times so far.

damn this game is actually too good. i don't know what i'm gonna do once the beta stops. october feels forever away.

1 question. there are 3 icons at the bottom left of the screen. i know that the left one (Q) is the grenade and the right one is vault (V) but what on earth is the middle one? I can't figure it out. There were only 2 of these icons in Destiny 1.

Melee (C key).

That hunter class ability sure is hot garbage compared to the other two.

It's by far the most active ability, although I think they should speed up the cooldown even more. My guess is if you know how and when to use it it's pretty good. I always forget about it though because it's something you need to use during an encounter when it's all reaction.

For PvP I think the Titan shield is probably the best so far.

The animation takes too long, takes you out of first person and it gives you no i-frames so you're vulnerable during it. It's such an easy shot in PvP.

Compare that to a Titan shield that your whole team can make use of and warlock buffs? It's kinda silly.

This is all PvP I'm talking about.

AI is dumb enough for it to work in PvE.

Played during early access then a bit more during open. I enjoyed my first few hours, then felt the game was rather stale. I think having 3x2 classes is likely going to cause a very stale PVP meta (which is all I care for) and seeing all the super charges and not being really excited by them has left me kind of bleh.

Whats the total count in terms of maps, game modes, etc?

So I played through the tutorial mission and the strike mission and so far it feels like a slow Warframe without the depth or complexity with great production values and presentation.

What am I missing?

So I've played Warframe for 400+ hours in the past, haven't played nearly as much Destiny but played a good number of hours still.

It depends how you look at the longevity of each game. For me Warframe doesn't have the grab to keep me going. I wanted to get a certain Prime frame, and it was fun getting to that (I played with a bunch of friends), but once I got what I wanted I realized there's literally nothing else to do except get more frames and weapons. Some people are okay with that, but I didn't feel like I was really progressing or working towards anything, the game is just "get more stuff". In that sense Destiny appeals to me more the same way Path of Exile does where you actually build on a character, and have an end game goal that gives it purpose.

the beta only contains about an hour of gameplay assuming you don't replay anything or create more than one character. so yeah i imagine after a few hours it would get a bit stale.

most i'll spend with it is about 4 hours.

Yup this is really how it is Warframe seems to be just get this, and it's a frame/weapon collectathon.

There's not much else in Warframe that would ever interest me in it like I am with Destiny.

Destiny is in my opinion a much better produced game then Warframe.

Handgun + Controller on PC is pretty much Aim Bot currently...

Crazy times where controller is preferred method on PC. I'm a horrid controller player but did ok w/ controller. Autoaim much higher than console version. My DS4 didn't work w/ xim4 but got xbox controller to work. I would not play that way as its borderline unfair. Mouse and KB clearly third class citizens on D2 PC. I'd hate to come across the other 2 superior input methods if I was a mouse and KB player who plays Crucible.

They need to tone down the autoaim to make it more balanced like PS4. Nobody likes to get laserbeamed by strong autoaim. As a PvE only player this doesn't effect me but its no bueno for PvP players.

Aim assist feels exactly the same to me on PC as it does on consoles.

I'm beginning to see that this is an issue, though. As much as I like playing the PC beta on my gamepad, I would understand if they got rid of aim assist entirely.

But it is Bungie, and they like their console games so maybe they are trying to push more people to use gamepads on PC.

Yeah that's definitely the Destiny I remember playing on PS4.
I'm probably gonna buy it, I hope the story actually fucking makes sense this time around.

I also hope they keep some of the elements ingame more regularly than the weird rotation they did for Destiny 1 like racing and such.

Lordy lord, they need to nerf the hand cannon. I like the PVP but hate that I feel like I HAVE to use a hand cannon because they drop people so quickly. Most of the time everyone on both teams is running around using them.

SMG's close range will beat a hand cannon, pulse rifles will beat them long range. But that mid range zone, yeah...

And Scout Rifles ain't doin much for me at all right now. Auto Rifles are decent, but with hand cannons for the mid range territory it kind of renders them useless.

Does the auto aim work the same for kb/m? It seems like everyone I'm against kills me in 3 shots but I'm struggling to even register a critical hit

Didn't Overwatch start out with heavy aim assist with controllers on PC, until it was abused? I would imagine D2 will follow the same path.

It's a shame, as I prefer playing all games with a controller at this point in my life and anything to level the playing field would be nice, but I understand.

Yeah I love my scout rifles but the one in the beta kind of sucked compared to the other weapons. Hopefully MIDA Multi Tool and Hung Jury make come backs in D2 they were a blast to use.

With only a few exotics and no real gear to speak of though I think the beta isn't a great place to judge gear balance and such.

Am I the only one that wishes the shield bar for enemies was back above the health bar like in D1? Something feels really off about working from the bottom up when killing a player.

Played a bit of PVP on gamepad... and that was actually ok. Not the last one at least and i have not played Destiny since RoI launch.

People who asking to remove aim assist from PC version altogether or mess with gamepad users in any other way: FUCK NO!

Not sure how Bungie/VV will balance this but they definitely should not mess with core gameplay on controller. Create separate lobbies for PVP or some kind of gamepad filter toggle in menu( like original Crysis did for example ) if needed but do not mess with gunplay on gamepad ffs. Yes there will be people who will cheat and play with M/KB in controller lobby but there are always going to be cheaters anyway even on consoles( XiM )

Agreed. The exotic hand cannon is probably the most powerful weapon in the Beta, which is probably part of the reason everyone is complaining about them. The other one I've used is good but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's OP.

Also, Super charge time is perfect where it is right now after the change from the console beta, although I fear with gear that enhances charge time it's going to be a Super fest just like the first game. I kinda hoped Bungie would have stuck to their guns, pun sorta intended.

As long as they protect the game from exploits of AA (like that 'controller' KB+M from the Overwatch controversy) they will never remove it, it's core to the Destiny feel (and it feels magnificent, and just like the PS4 version on controller currently).

I think you would be surprised how many people will play D2 with a controller: the pull of your 4KTV/HDR is strong with this one (I got an Elite controller just for this and ESO btw).

To be fair, with the whole vibration thing from the controller there's a sense of feedback clearly missing when playing with KB + M

Would be surprised if they changed the whole auto aim on PC, if its the same than on PS4 / XB 1

Played the opening prologue and I like the feel of the game. I never played the first - it looked a bit too run of the mill and like a slightly generic Borderlands for my tastes, and the review scores didn't exactly persuade me. Would people say the sequel is a substantial improvement so far?

Damn, going from the beta for the original on the PS3 to this on PC.XD Running on medium/high settings, this game looks pretty nice and smooth. Went with Warlock first, and wow that fiery sword special attack.

Don't have interests in PvP, but will look forward to the Strike and probably the Farm later tonight.

Loving Destiny 2 Beta on PC. Tho I've been playing on a same map (competitive mode) the gameplay loop is fun. Looking forward to the full release with tons of maps and stuff. Kinda glad I've never played the first Destiny game (I'm a PC guy, consoles a no no for me) cuz the second one is more polished/better crafted apparently, so people say.

Two months is gonna be a long wait.

Gameplay is as fun as ever.

And the writing is as shit as it ever was. Holy shit was this game written and directed by a 12-year old.

Yes! My muscle memory is so trained to look above the health bar and sometimes it throws me off when I dont have that feedback. Armor below is kinda awkward, not sure why they changed that.

Aim assist is not stronger on PC, it's the same as consoles (Devs have confirmed that).

KB+M is still easily the best way to play, but for once controllers actually are kind of viable and everyone's having a fit SMH....XIM4 though, well yeah....that's a whole other story: I'd ban it personally if it was possible lol.

One thing I've noticed: Snipe and SMGs are god tier with KB+M, nigh on unusable with controller now - so there's advantages/disadvantages both ways: ARs feel really good on controller: Scouts, not so much and Pulse /HCs are good on both.

Indeed. The story is shit thus far and I wish my ghost would shut the fuck up. This is why I prefer 0 story in games (especially loot based because of repeated playthroughs)...it's just too much of a risk for the vast majority of developers who make great games but can't write a script for the life of them. Millions upon millions of dollars wasted on a poor story-line and bad voice actors to match.

Beta sold me on the game, runs like a dream and even upscales, looks gorgeous.

My only gripe is 4v4 PvP. I'm debating if I should buy the game+expansion pass code. Is there anywhere I can get it at a discount?

Maybe it's better to let the console players let me know if the PvE content is any good before I buy in though...

Only way to use OBS is Display Capture? one day i'll have porn open and tab out to it LMFAO.

i tried window capture but that didn't work btw.

Think GMG did have an 18% discount.

It's one of those occasions that review scores got it wrong.

In fairness, that was Destiny's fault - they presented the game wrong.

For those who stayed with it, D1 turned out to be one of the greatest games ever made.

It's certainly many people's favourite - mine included

I'm not talking about the strike, I'm talking about the beginning of the game and the voice acting throughout? The most important parts of a story are the beginning, arc and end. So far, not so good. I'm still buying the shit out of the game don't get me wrong, it just doesn't bode well that the cheese is already seeping through every orifice.
