It's gross but people just accept these kind of things nowadays. "You don't have to buy it" or whatever thing they say. Capitalism is great!

There is nothing, and I mean nothing better than knowing a game I'm going to sink 150-200 hours into before December has planned DLC that I don't have to wait forever for, knowing that I'm going to keep getting a steady stream of content is amazing, especially for a game like destiny. They are probably months into development on DLC 1 because that's how far ahead they have to be.

I've only played vanilla Destiny ...guessing this would be a bad time to finally jump into the expansions.

Actually there is no better time, you can probably get the latest physical disc for $40 used with all the content from the last 3 years.

I actually really really liked the trailer. I felt like they were appealing more to the "player" guardians rather than a strict in-game representation of guardians who just had everything destroyed etc, but I get why people don't like it because of that disconnect.

I always enjoyed the setting and characters more than the actual plot per se so it's also entirely possible I just don't care about the context!

60fps would be awesome across all versions, though I don't see that happening without XB1 and PS4 versions being slightly gimped

It is when everyone cheers, despite having their friends killed and homes destroyed. That action only makes sense if they are responding to "loot" the way the audience would, rather than their characters.

If you're going to try to take deeper perspective, walk it the whole way through instead of just stopping where it's convenient for your point.

The people who were cheering are Guardians. Who were dead for who knows how long before being revived by their own Ghosts. They have no family. They also die routinely. And are brought back. In fact, they kill and revive each other repeatedly when they train in the Crucible. Guardians who die truly die happen less often but it does happen constantly. The very nature of Guardians lives is kill and be killed over and over fighting in a virtually unwinnable war against groups of enemies they have barely any understanding of.

They would be deeply, deeply, screwed up beings. And deeply screwed up beings in a permanent war choosing to focus on something shallow and tangible isn't all that out of order. Vets use dark as shit humor all the time to deal with stuff.

Or, you know, you can accept that it's a humorous spot in a trailer for a video game and stop being so offended that the pixels on the screen aren't more sadface about the destruction of other pixels.

Two extremes, I know, but you have choices.

This is bungie we're talking about. The same people who cosistently over-promised on aspects of D1 and failed to deliver on most of them other than the core gameplay.

There's no disconnect. Guardians are semi-immortal goofballs. That's canon.

Bungie has definitely been listening and learning from the community over Destiny 1. Hopefully communication will be open and seriously looked at during the beta.

Hopefully they don't listen to the PVP comp tryhards community only.

Odd trailer but kind of liked it. Not sure message of mixing classic destiny 1 - this it's s all very serious and solem stuff - with reality of much of destiny 1 experience - its all about shooting stuff for loot - makes much sense but I guess it summed up the two poles of the orginsl's experience.

Guess this explains lack of carryover - our stuff got blown up. All of it.

After Destiny 1, I'm definitely gonna be much more cautious. They swore there was more to Earth in the full game compared to the demo. And there really wasn't much. There was so little to the initial game. And the whole "the real game doesn't start until you're level 20" or whatever. Hard to trust devs when they say stuff like this and it turns out to be nothing.

I'll wait for reviews and probably rent even then. I'll definitely watch the gameplay trailer. They got the controls/combat right. Just need good story, missions, and actual exploration.

Same boat. PS4 exclusives luckily aren't a year long again but still. That and PC has more potential for looking nicer but PS4 is where I've met a ton of my crucible/raid buddies. Decisions lol.

You raise a good point. I'm not into the tone at all, personally. Cayde was perfect in the teaser but in this... it was trying way too hard.

Agreed completely. It's not that there shouldn't be any comic relief, or that Cayde's character can't be a great source of humor. It's just that, in the trailer, it was so on the nose.

Whatever though, mostly I just want to see more about the gameplay and the story.

I'm not. It never amounted to much in my experience. A strike, a few guns, a couple armors. Nothing I think will be hugely missed.

The only thing keeping me from getting the PC version is the thought that most of my original Destiny crew will likely be playing it on a PS4 otherwise the PC not having that exclusive content wouldn't deter me from getting it there.

I'll probably pick it up on PC. I played on Xbox for D1 and I guess I never really missed that strike or one weapon, so it kind of didn't matter.

I was a day 1 Xbox player, I never really missed the PS exclusive content. I had a bit of a moan but ultimately I had more than enough to do.

I think a lot of people, including myself, just thought the severe juxtaposition between Cayde-6's goofball antics and Zavala's speech about people and families dying created a strange tone, especially when presented in a short 2 minute trailer. I feel like Bungie should've just leaned one way or the other, like with their teaser trailer.

I don't find your in-universe explanation to be very plausible, because it's too flexible. It feels tantamount to saying, "Well, they're fucked up beings, so they will (fill in the blank)". That could be used to justify almost any response to Cayde's speech, including laughing uproariously to every one of his bad jokes. It's also not clear why we then have a contrasting serious and solemn speech, as though Guardians can expect to have a standard human response to these events.

As to your comments above about "offense," if you can't respond to someone's critique of a game trailer without trying to paint them as angry and unreasonable, there's no reason to participate. And I don't plan to respond further if you add on personal attacks.

You know what after BF1, Battlefront, Titanfall, Halo 5, every COD ever, I agree entirely. 60 fps is king and sacrifices will have to be made on consoles regardless but I'm still okay with 30 as it's not the end of the world if it's a solid 30. Or maybe they may do 60fps MP/ 30fps for PVE like every other shooter.
