Me either, but this is the discussion thread for the trailer. Many people think that Bungie dropped the ball with this "reveal." This is the place on NeoGAF to talk about that.

Right, I just don't get feel the same urgency about it all that other folks seem to feel.

Honestly I find it extremely unlikely that I'll like Destiny 2, but I see so much potential in the series and I just really want to like it. So I guess I'm in this weird mental place where my expectations are really low, but my openness and curiosity are pretty high. That might explain why I'm not too bothered by the reveal trailer.

Man, Destiny threads are always such a mess. You got people who (understandably) feel burned by the first game and are critical of every detail about D2 that doesn't meet their expectations, fair or not. Then you got the people who loved Destiny and (understandably) get sick of people ripping it apart. And worst of all, you have the people who complain about how everyone else conducts themselves.

Especially coming off the first game where so many people felt burned. Bungie does not have the goodwill afforded to studios like Naughty Dog or Rockstar. Not anymore. They've got something to prove now.

They should show some of it.

I think a lot of this is over blown though. Sure there are people who felt burned but Destiny is still one of the highest grossing Ips this gen and the current game still has a very strong population. I mean all Bungie has shown is a cgi trailer and people are hyped. Preorders for the LE and CE are selling out.

Bungie could go complete media blackout till release and people would still preorder the hell out of the game. Destiny 2 will most likely be one of the highest selling games in 2017 if not the highest depending on if RDR2 comes out this year.

I'd be shocked if Destiny is 60 FPS.

Personally, I would rather them push the visuals further and have a solid 30 than 60. I know many others would rather have 60 though.

I watched some Destiny 1 gameplay footage for the first time in a while recently, and man, I forgot how slow it is. I hope they bump up the base movement speed a bit, and (like I said earlier in the thread) make the movement penalty for using ADS less severe.

Bungie tweaked that kind of stuff pretty dramatically between different Halo games. I'm curious to see what they do with Destiny.

we want to see the game, not a teaser, for an announcement of the game we already knew was coming out.

Who is "we"? Me and my friends who are burned out on Destiny have been pretty optimistic and midly satisfied with the barebones stuff we've got right now as we know that we can expect a lot more in the future.
Yeah sure, gameplay would be nice but shit won't change as this is Bungie and they will always do whatever they want.

This 'reveal' does nothing for people who are no longer involved, or don't even care about the game at this point. It feels like they made this for the /r/destinythegame subreddit, and everyone else who is still playing this game.

Who says this trailer (or whatever some of you wanna call it is) is directed at those who played the main campaign or the first 2 DLC's and bailed out after that?
This whole thing was just made to gain some attention from the main gaming public and build some hype for those who have been playing for hundreds of hours (and perhaps still do).

Destiny's movement is slow and clunky. The pace of the game was way faster in Year 1 than it is now though.

Increasing FOV alone will make game look and feel faster. TTK is surprisingly low for console FPS so it should be already okay for PC crowd.

First year player here (platinum'd + first 2 DLCs). I loved both the teaser and the revealtrailer, but it was just too comical for a game that is supposed to be about saving the universe...or something. I could never tell.

Nathan Fillion is amazing though. I don't even know the character's name but I'm instantly interested in finding more about him.

Yes, I'll clarify: I know it's on the slower side but I don't see it as a negative. It's part of what Destiny is. Some might not like the slower pace I guess, which is understandable.

The game feels like ass now compared to what it did when it launched.

Destiny is slow compared to Arena shooters. It was faster than whatever CoD iteration released along side it by a long shot. But it's slower than stuff on PC like Overwatch, Loadout, etc.. that control way more like an Arena shooter due to M/KB.

If Pro version was 60FPS then OG version needs to be 60FPS too, meaning graphics cuts so they can double FPS from current 30. Sony doesn't allow Pro owners to have FPS advantage in PvP games.

They needed to do that to cut the dependency on Aim Assist and Rush Down. They can't cut Aim Assist because of the sticks and the Rush Down was way too powerful combined with Titan Charge, Shotty + Melee, etc... that mutilated the gun game once people figured it out.

Yep totally agreed, Bungie has done a lot in the past 3 years to slow down Destiny's gameplay significantly.
Starting with the increase of the general TTK, especially weapons which are meant for close quarters encounters. Then there's them rewarding long range combat and passivity after having a full year of fast paced combat. The slowing down of abilities' speed or their cooldown time (blink has become the laughing stock), the nerfing of exotic armor pieces which enhance the player's speed (Twilight Garrison, Gravitron Forfeit) and lots of maps are just simply too big for 6v6.

I just hope Bungie has their stuff together for the sequel, I liked Y1 (of course stuff like the Vex Mythoclast, SUROS Regime and the Pocket Infinity needed its nerfs) but all it really needed were some Y2 adjustments.
Their design philosophy of "every weapon needs its time to shine" is horrible, make sure everything is competitive, this meta thing needs to die already.

The only reason they would force that version down such a path would be because of cross-platform play. But it also may be too costly to do the extra animation work for 60 frames per second (if they are targeting 30 on console) as well as overhauling the aiming and movement systems to adjust for mouse and keyboard.

Again, there's nothing Destiny did or their Halo games did that would indicate they were constrained by the hardware.

It was simply their call to make their games capped at 30, when other FPS's were standardizing higher framerates.
