It sucks that this alpha is ending so soon. I hope I get in the beta, but really, I just want the full game now. Just give it to me. Please. I'll beg if I have to.

For anyone worried about the size of this game.

Earth :

Mumbai Push
Old Russia ( alpha map )
Old Chicago
Twilight Gap
European Deadzone

Map of old Russia. Some of which is not even explorable in the alpha due to enemy levels and such. Looks like the whole Kings Watch area is not in the Alpha, along with that Dry Sea area

So, along with even more of Old Russia in the retail version, you have multiple other areas of Earth to explore. Along with of course the other planets.

I really cannot wait for the retail of this game man.

No, the Vanguard bounty's have to do with the Strike missions. Like, finishing the strike without dying will grant you a Vanguard award ... just don't forget tyo actually accept the bounty first lol.

Where did you get the info about the Earth locations and has it really been confirmed that we get to explore all those areas?

Where is this? I'd like to find it myself.

Just got up to 165 defense. :D

It's in the area past the first Hive Wizard you fight in Mission Mode. When you go through in Explore mode, it's off the side of the cliff near the helicopters.

Where is this guy?

It's in the area past the first Hive Wizard you fight in Mission Mode. When you go through in Explore mode, it's off the side of the cliff near the helicopters. Normally there is a lvl 16 Hallowed Knight there. This is the first I've seen the purple light-spewing ugly. After we pushed him off the cliff the Hallowed Knight respawned.

Just use the cryptarch. I'm up to level 3, he offers a lot more uncommon pieces now. Rares for a 1000 glitter but pointless because they all end up being a higher level.

Yeah I was waiting for him to refresh his stock before going back. Last I checked no uncommon gauntlet epigrams

so according to the alpha bungie.net page, since i've installed this game on thursday night, i've played a total of 1 day, 1 hour, and 31 minutes. Yeah, I'm addicted >_>

thats over 25 hours already...just into a freakin alpha :P

An alpha with a minimal amount of content at that lol. :P The alpha is already more polished than the beta of Battlefield hardline which is kinda sad, but not surprising considering the skill gap between Bungie and Visceral Games.

Not entirely fair to Visceral. Bungie has a team of close to 400 people and Destiny has been in development for 4 years.

I would hope to god it's polished.

Finally found the area from last year's E3 demo, it was totally empty.

Loved crawling around that area. Right before you get there you're in this dark. cavernous place where you can jump down onto the platforms below and it's not an insta-death. You can double jump your way to the opposite raised platform that is slightly lit up but leads to a completely dark room. Hopefully it's just another area cordoned off until the beta or retail (like those areas with the blackish 'mist'). It just a lot of fun exploring this space.

Preorder and it's a guaranteed beta spot.

So, did all of you that pre-ordered get some sort of beta invite notification? I pre-ordered Destiny along with FF XV through Toys R Us last December when they had that Buy 1 Get 2 50% off. I have my pre-order confirmation from the retailer but nothing else re: the Beta.

El Gato or another HD capture card. I really hope Bungie and Sony work out a photo mode for this game.

I have an El Gato new in box, guess I will have to initiate setup.

I tried that, the screens I posted didn't look very nice. Someone else commented that the PS4 screen capture compresses them. It does not due the screenshots justice whatsoever.

I was emailed my Beta code upon completion of my pre-order.

When you made your pre-order you should have received a code to enter on the bungie.net site to register your account for the Beta.

PS+ ran out, so here's what I got.

The Strike doesn't really leave a good impression of the PvE. Rank and file enemies barely require any thought. Boss is basically a gigantic health bar, just hoping it'll survive long enough for you to be killed by a squad of troops spawning in a monster closet behind you. Even on Legend, the only difficult thing was trying to make sure those monster closet spawns didn't catch you off guard. The dropship bringing in troops was nice, not sure why the rest just pop in out of nowhere.

Not a huge fan of the super long cooldown class abilities. Classes don't feel as distinct when most of the time you're just shooting things with the same weapons. But of course there are those other abilities we didn't get to try yet. And in PvP it just feels like you get periodically supercharged out of nowhere and there's not much you can do about it.

PvP is alright, interesting combination of control zones into an essentially DM gametype. Maps were enjoyable, and I at least didn't notice any glaring dominance by a particular weapon/class/ability. Does Bungie go in depth anywhere about how your gear/abilities get worked into their 'No Level Advantage' system? Even just playing over these few days, my level 8 character is WAY more powerful now than when I first hit level 8. If any of that transfers over to PvP, it's going to get real ugly.

Load times aren't great but that's likely to change. Game looks real pretty. Shame about Mr. Dinklage, must've sucked when they realized their stunt cast didn't really work out. Probably been mentioned a billion times, but using an onscreen cursor for a game that in theory isn't coming to PC is an interesting choice.

What i don't like though are the spongy bosses which aren't very challenging but are very long winded. Nothing says tedious like shooting something with 8 million bullets from all angles for 30 minutes (exaggeration) and that's with a team of alpha maxed players, with good weapons and focusing on weakspots. And then on top of that the bosses do something i absolutely hate...random mob spawns. I understand why they're there, to combat the games ammo system and counteract the loss of ammo that the boss is absorbing. Doesn't make it any less cheap though. So i'm hoping those will get tweaked. Maybe more attack patterns but a smaller health bar?

The monster closet spawns are annoying. Random mob spawns are fine, but they really should drop pod out of the sky, or telegraph that they are coming in some way. Right now on the strike if you are moving around the arena, they just pop out of a stupid black cloud door and shoot you in the back. I think it's poor design not to give me a warning to get into a defensible position or get ready for a spawn wave.

I think the Devil walker has more interesting tactics than anyone is giving it credit for. You really need to go in and try things out. If you dance in and out of trigger range for the emp blast, one person can lock it into doing the blast more of the time instead of shooting missles and you can get a lot of damage on it pretty quickly. You can also go all the way to the right of the map to get to a pretty safe spot to take pot shots and draw aggro safely to get it to expose one side to everyone else.

Hopefully encounters get more varied and interesting mechanics later on though.

I agree on the tank boss. On the first appearance it looks like a bullet sponge boss bit it's actually forcing gamers to learn how to coordinate and fight the boss correctly and not have 3 people shoot the boss constantly to win.

You need two people I. Each side working the legs and pulling the tank agro back and forth. The third should cover the middle, Work ads, and revive people if downed.

Then when a leg pops all people switch to heavy and pounce.

Fun boss

Hopefully encounters get more varied and interesting mechanics later on though.

It's going to be interesting to see what Bungie can come up with in their strike. Just how complex can the boss encounter become when there's no dedicated healer or true tank class? The titan is the closest thing to a tank since he's got a defensive super, but we will see. Bosses will eventually devolve into hitting and dodging powerful strikes since there's no healing outside of letting the shield and health recharge once you do take a hit.

Posted my feedback on Bungie.net!

Whoot! Whoot!

I wonder if there will be a proximity chat option. It's very limiting to tie you to chatting to only 3 people when there's a bunch of other people around.

Maybe have the proximity chat only work for people on your radar?
